Nicolosi's Italian Restaurant is the worst!

by Becky T.

My husband and I dines last night. The service was friendly and fast. The restaurant is worn-out, old with dirty dusty plastic flowers decorating the interior. The food, I ordered baked rigatoni, dry, sauce is way too sweet and the ricotta was only on the top, no mozzarella cheese throughout. The salad the was served pr-meal was torn lettuce with 1 tomato wedge and drenched in salad dressing - no croutons, or color! My husband had the anniversary spaghetti and meatballs - same sweet sauce, he couldn't;t even finish it, the sauce was so bad. We used to frequent often, and last night is definitely the last. The rigatoni was served in a gratin dish and is $14 - there are many other Italian restaurants with nice ambiance and food quality that don't charge $14, and that's where we will be dining from now on - goodbye Nicolosis!

Excellent Food

by Jeremy W. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,494

A friend of mine told me about Nicolosi's a while back and my wife and I finally tried it out. We found the food to be excellent. The salad dressing, bread and of course the entrees were all awesome. Portions are huge. You can definitely share with someone or get your own and have some left over for lunch the next day.

super delicious

Nicolosi's is an amazing restaurant. It is on the hidden side, but once you get there it is worth it. Homemade fresh bread served at your table, with quality Italian food. If you are looking for some great Italian food, check this place out.

Nicolosi's Italian Restaurant

by Carol M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,840

This is a second generation, family owned restaurant. The food is wonderful, home made bread, etc. I have never had anything that wasn't excellent! It is a warm and friendly place.

Not bad...

by Rochelle C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,092

My husband and I went here with friends for dinner one night. It was an okay place for Italian food. The food was your basic italian, but it was good. Would recommand this place for a family, doesn't really have a romantic vibe.

Best Pizza Around

by Polly S.

My family and I have been going to Nicolosi's for probably about 28+ years and we have never found another pizza that is quite like what they offer. We don't even need menus any more once we arrive. Its simply, "We'll take one large antipasto salad and one large pepporoni and mushroom pizza." And then mom always adds, "And lots of bread too!"

I've had friends try their pasta as well and loved it. The flavor is delicious, the staff are really nice, its a nice, cozy atmosphere and overall, very family oriented.

Try it out, you won't regret it!

Tasty Italian food, long standing San Diego business.

by Catherine T. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,474

Nicolosis has been around for ages, formerly located on El Cajon Blvd., before the I-15 displaced it! A delicious Italian menu, from the basics to a few more intricate dishes, they always shine! Each meal we have ever eaten there has been fantastic, from Torpedos to pasta, pizza to salads. Their original Italian dressing is delicious and available in take-home bottles. Excellent bread and a complimentary relish dish with each meal. Fun for a casual date, also very family friendly. Moderate prices.
