Pros: not expensive

Cons: not cheap either

.

I remember going to the beach in the morning in the north of Bali and buying nasi bungkus for 500 rupiah from a woman sitting at a wooden table. Nasi bungkus is rice, vegetables, egg, spices, meat wrapped snugly in a banana leaf.

I have been disappointed by most Indonesian restaurants in the U.S., making gado-gado out of Skippy peanut butter and using powdered turmeric instead of fresh. At Simpang Asia, I'm back in Indonesia at a warung, roosters crowing and kretek smoke drifting into the air. Ikan pepasan. Nasi kuning. Bakso. The fragrance and textures of the food, beautifully presented, bring back memories, right here in LA.

Pros: Wonderful flavorful Indonesian food

Cons: Can't think of any

Being half Asian and a passionate cook I love this place.
A lot of grocery shopping will take place at Simpang Asia after which I sit down and indulge myself in one of their tasty platters or little snacks.

Staff is friendly and helpful.

In fact: this little shop has great food, better than the Indonesian restaurant on the opposite of the street Indo Cafe.

If you don't mind sitting at a simple table, then you can enjoy good honest food here.

Great tasting indonesian food, friendly service, relax and casual environment and reasonably priced.
Incredible choices of Indonesian food. Cool selection of hard to find Indonesian and other asian groceries.
We had a great experience in simpang. Can't wait to come back.

Pros: Great place to eat.

I love visiting Simpang. They offer small treats for folks from that part of the world. Their dinner menu is delicious and nicely priced too. Thumbs up.

they have a great service, everyone seem to know everybody by greeting their name. They have really good food too. If i can say they have better food than food itself in Indonesia.

A cool little place set among other stores and little restaurants at the corner of National that suddenly goes haywire (if you know what I mean!) In addition to being a store that sells mostly Indonesian goods (mostly things to cook with or eat), you can also buy Indonesian food here.
