Water Babies Swim School, Gina is back. She is the 1st Water Baby and will be back in the pool giving lessons in May.

Swimming should be fun, not a bad experience.

Just had to share.

I wish I believed what was said in the bad reviews. I took my 13 month old there and the instructor would drop him in water and my son was so scared of the instructor that he would cry so bad. Once my son kicked the instructor as he was scared of being dropped in water. The instructor got so mad that he let my son drown and told me not to help him as he has to "LEARN that he cannot kick". I cried so badly seeing my son drown like a stone, then picked him and came out of the pool. That was the last time I went there though I paid for 6 classes, I would never go back there again. I also want to mention that my son fell sick 2 times out of the 3 classes we took...

The kids that learn to swim here learn not only swim strokes but floating, breathing, treading water and how to safely rescue themselves if they fall into a body of water accidentally.

My children are both confident little swimmer now who know just what to do if they should accidentally fall into a pool or other body of water. While I still keep a close eye on them at the pool and beach, I no longer feel like I have to be right on top of them to make sure they are safe.

We did three sessions in total this summer, with the last one being a semi-private (both my children with one instructor) to cut down on cost.

I purchased private lessons for each of my two children for the first two sessions which, while pricey, were well worth the extra money. The one on one time is really important for establishing trust and gives your child the best experience, in my opinion.

Yes, they do "push" the children, which is not for everyone, not letting them back away from the lessons they need to learn in order to become confident, capable swimmers.

My 4 yr old son cried at the beginning of every lesson for the entire first session, but the instructor he had was patient and persistent which is what my son needed to get over his fears.

If you take the time to discuss your expectations, and your child(ren)'s needs, with the staff they will try to work with you. They have some very good instructors and, if your child is not meshing well with a particular instructor, Water Babies is willing to change up instructors if need be. This is in contrast to some other places where you are stuck with whatever instructor you are assigned, even if he/she does not have a good rapport your child.

I tried several different "schools", but Water Babies was the only one that I saw getting consistent results (children actually learning how to be water safe vs. just getting wet). I highly recommend them if you are committed to your child learning to swim and being "water safe".

If you are just looking for some fun playtime in the pool with a chance that your child(ren) might pick up some water skills there are cheaper options.

I also agree with the review below "waste of money" I had the exact same experience as she did. EXACT. I was super disappointed with the time they spend with you (5 minutes...if that...seemed like a total of 2) I didn't like how they forced my daughter to go with them, and to be dunked under water (at 9-12 months) even after she HATED it. They did it every time for the 6 week sessions I signed up for...she never got used to it, yet the insisted they keep trying. It was very expensive for what appeared to be worthless. I could take my kid in the pool for 5 minutes everyday force her underwater and leave for FREE.

Influenced by its good reputation, i joined my daughter here.we are totally unhappy and disappointed with our experience.I would not recommend this place for the following reasons...- VERY UNPROFESSIONAL- its very hard to talk to someone over the phone.Even if u get lucky enough u'll be kept on hold for at least 15 min.Nobody will be there to greet u or direct u to the class even for the first time.I waited outside for 15 mins wondering where the class and instructor would be.By the time i found out and got into the pool, instructor said i'm late and the class is over.Instructor was also not that great. She always seemed to be uninterested and was constantly forcing my daughter to go underwater which she didn't like. She used to cry hysterically every time the instructor was holding her and it continued even after 2 complete sessions(12 classes)..we should have listened to our daughter from the beginning..our big mistake. Now thanks to water babies...my daughter now doesn't want to go underwater anymore!!!- NO RULES- They say they have rules..but no they don't.They say all the kids under 4 should wear a swim diaper(not disposable). But no one really cares..i saw most of them were wearing disposable diapers.. i even saw a gentleman getting into the pool wearing cotton shorts and a shirt! And don't expect a 20 min class as they say...it'll be only for 3-5 mins per student.-FACILITIES ARE FILTHY- Bathroom is very dirty and they have only two showers which sometimes doesn't work!- VERY EXPENSIVE-This is at someone's house so parking is very difficult. My friends had the same bad experience...i absolutely doesn't recommend this place to anyone.

My son loved learning to swim here. He learned in just 1 month.
Before my eyes, he was jumping in...and had a love for the water
(in which earlier he was quite scared).
The pool is heated, and the ratio of children to instructors is different depending on the age of the child.
Parking is quite difficult, and the school is quite pricey.

Great place with heated pools, indoor and out. Instructors are gentle and patient with your little ones and with older people too! :) Class includes a last day "emergency" lesson where you jump into the pool with all of your clothes on and learn to swim as you would in a real emergency. Great place to learn.

PROS: fantastic facilities
CONS: a bit pricey
