Country Wood Furniture is Horrible
by skylar k.
My Fiance and I went there and werent greated once while in the store. The store was small and the furniture was tacky, all of the furniture had knicks in the wood, which suggests to me that it had been used or poorly taken care of. The owner is a lazy and terrible salesmen, just because my Fiance and I look young he completely ignored us even when I looked over at him when I had a question he looked at me and looked away going back to reading the paper. IF YOU OWN A BUSINESS PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!! I wouldnt go back to that store if they paid me.

Country Wood Furniture is worst!
I already filed a complaint to the Bureau of Consumer Protection. It would take less than 5 minutes to fill up the complaint form. I strongly urge you to fill up the form. You're helping everyone. You're helping the consumer.

Crazy Wood Furniture
by LuAnn C.
These people are the worst on God's green earth. I bought my sister a jewelry armoire for Christmas in October. When it finally arrived, after the royal jerking they always dole out, they placed it in my car. I didn't notice the leg was defective. When I attempted to get it replaced, let the jerking begin. Finally got a new armoire in March. Then, not thinking clearly, my sister went to get two television stands...again they are SO HELPFUL until they get your money. They arrived approximately four weeks after the promised date. When she got them home, one of them is hopelessly damaged. She called the store and the guy that answered told her to bring it back. She explained that she could not bring it back and he went psycho on her and hung up. Then he tied up the telephone lines so she could not call back. Finally...and I have advice for anyone who does business with these idiots...she had paid with her American Express card and guess what, they don't take crap. She disputed the charges and THEN the woman called...she left a message that she would call back later to resolve and we have not heard from her since. IMPORTANT WARNING - always pay with American Express if you must do business with these loons...

OWNER SCREAMS AT 2 YEAR OLDS! STAY AWAY!!!!
by Maren S.
I would give this store NEGATIVE STARS! The owner SCREAMED "NO" REPEATEDLY at my 2 YEAR OLD, because he was opening and shutting some drawers while I was writing down model numbers from a catalog. He didn't ask nicely (which my son easily responds to), or even give me a chance to talk to my son first - although really, it's not like he was hurting anything. When the sales lady who originally helped me came over and asked and why son was crying, I said "he screamed "no" at my son and scared him." (Terrified him really.) The owner overheard me and screamed at me "GET OUT OF MY STORE!". When I commented he should let parents know if he was unhappy about something so they could discipline their own kids, he screamed "GET OUT OF MY STORE NOW!"
WOW! Never had a more horrible experience in a store in my life!!!

Insulted by owner
by Eva V.
One star is way too many. How this person can still be in business is beyond me. Stepping into his store without reading the reviews here was one of the biggest mistakes our family has ever done. If I just copied and pasted all bad reviews this would exactly describe our experience with this creature. It all started when we realized some pieces from the furniture we ordered is badly manufactured and the assembly not possible. We called the store (at 10 am), the man on the
phone (later we found out it's the owner himself) said to send pictures of bad pieces and they would call us back.
They never did so we tried to contact them that same day four times hoping we could get our answer. In our last call (5 pm), after the man said he couldn't open the pictures and that we have to send him the pictures again, my husband told him he should have called us with this answer 7 hours ago.
The man started to be unbelievably rude, insulting my husband on many levels including, and I quote "Foreigners are destroying this country.". After that the man hung up. So we decided to go to the store personally. When we said who we were, his first words were "Get out! Leave the store! Get out!" We refused trying to explain we need the furniture and we
just want to hear the steps he's going to take to solve the problem. He didn't let us finish one sentence,
he was sarcastic, verbally abusive and he threatened us with calling the police holding his cell phone pretending to
dial the deputy sheriff (he never called anyone even though I asked him to do it). The whole time I couldn't believe I'm talking to a grown-up man. He obviously has some serious issues and he should be under close psychiatric supervision.
BEWARE
In the contract you are signing the furniture is NON-RETURNABLE. Once you put your money in their hands, you're doomed.

Unbelievably bad
by Anonymous A.
I bought furniture online through sanjosefurniture.com and it was delivered from countrywood furniture. I am not sure how the two businesses are related, but they are both unbelievably bad. The furniture was delivered damaged and missing parts. They did replace the parts, but it took a long time and they offered me a credit for the furniture which i never received.
My dealings with both the man who runs sanjosefurniture.com and the woman at countrywood furniture were completely unacceptable. I was simply shocked. They lied to me and gave me the run around. I have to say, this was one of the worse customer experiences I have ever had. It simply amazed me that people can run businesses in this manner.

NEVER GO HERE
by Anonymous
Don't even enter the store!
Like the other posters, the manager/owner threatened me numerous times. He stole a lot of money from me and has refused to attempt to resolve the issue with me.
Is there anything we can do as consumers? I honestly fear for my safety, and this sounds like a common problem, how can they still be in business?

Owner is Psychotic
by Anonymous
I really wish that I had checked Insider Pages before ordering furniture from this operation (they also have an online presence at SanJoseFurniture.com. My scheduled furniture delivery was very late, and when I called to inquire about it, the owner started screaming at me over the phone, making insulting comments and actually threatening me. I couldn't believe it. In the end, even the bed that was delivered wasn't the bed I ordered, but I simply don't have the time to deal with it. Needless to say, I will never purchase from this company again.

CONSUMER ALERT!
by Anonymous
Consumers need to know what they are faced with when shopping at Country Wood Furniture. My story - and I didn't purchase a thing. I was in the store with my friend who decided to buy a recliner, the one exactly displayed in the store, and added the matching couch. We approached the owners mother and she thumbed through catalogs to get the order number. She said she could get it before Thanksgiving and they would remove the old couch. She paid for it and we left. (It was delivered to her, but the recliner was a chair and she returned to discuss the mistake-she will be posting her experiences shortly Also, they refused to take the old sofa). My story begins 12/21 when I went to pick up the chair for her. I walked into the store and greeted by the manager, while he was on the cellphone. I mentioned I was here to pickup a recliner for my friend and asked to see the packaging to see if I could fit it in my car. On the way back to the front of the store he mentioned there was additional charges. I said I wasn't aware and I would call my friend to see how she wanted to handle this. I was not able to reach her and went back into the store. Immediately the guy was agitated and explained the extra charge. I kindly said to him I know there was a mix up from the very beginning. Well, within seconds he turned into this psychotic man sticking his finger in my face with my back against the store door and screaming "Get the hell out of his store before I kick your butt out of here" I asked him why he was so upset..and he got uglier. I left as he kept screaming derogatory statements about my friend. I called my friend, who still wanted the chair but we decided to get police escorts to be present when attempting to pick up the recliner. The police arrived and escorted my friend into the store. We were shocked to hear this is a habitual problem with this manager. Well he ignored my friend, but the police did have a conversation with him. We drove around the back to pickup the recliner. It was no surprise to us that this 6ft plus man that was so belligerent, demeaning, and threatening when no one is around to cower like a dog with his tail between his leg. Never made eye contact or mentioned a word to us. Apparently he has a history of issues with women customers. If you go to the superior court site and look up Case name, click on business, then enter country wood furniture, you will be amazed of all the cases against him. Check out the Better Business Bureau, too. I am still deciding whether to press charges against him for threatening me. If anyone has been threatened as I have, please post and maybe we can have the legal system deal with this guy so consumers will be protected. He and his mother desperately needs anger management classes. You never know when this guy will snap. ...LF

Stay Away from this NUTJOB!
by Anonymous
I wish I had read these reviews before I went brought my furniture.
The owner is a liar and when caught confront you like a rabid animal foaming at the mouth. His mother is just as bad.
I had the exact same experience as most everyone else posting here. He told me he had been to court seven times in the last year to settle customer disputes. Wow, who needs to go to court seven times in a year. I'll tell you a liar and a cheat.

CWC Anger Management 1:0:1 (Customers get abused bigtime)
by Concerned C.
BUYER BEWARE. CONSUMER BEWARE. SHOPPER BEWARE. I went to Country Wood Furniture on an attemp to ask a simple question about a product that they have there and get some parts for a table. My first 2 seconds in the store should have told me something (perhaps maybe to leave). The owner/person behind the desk greeted me with a cold stone "yeah, what do you need, what do want?". I proceeded to ask him (I believe his name was Mike and he is the CWF owner) a simple question about a wood product that I had seen there before, he went off the handle asking me the specifics of the item in a very agressive manner. Before I had a chance to finish my inquiry he started pulling the wood table catalogs off the shelf and telling me to look through the books with the "don't bother me attitude". He was aggravated from the get-go for reasons I have no clue. He was belligerent, irate, impatient, rude beyond belief and is in need of some serious Prozac or something equal or greater. I simply requested to look around instead of thumbing through the catalogs because he was unable to comprehend a simple question. He then starts pacing and then shouts out "get out - just leave, you don't even know what you want!" and continues with "most people know what they are looking for before they enter a store!". I sort of laughed because I though he was joking, then I realized by the bulging artery pounding out of his head that he was fatally serious. I asked him if he was serious and he blurted out "yes I am serious, go away, most people when they come in here know what they want and you are clueless". Hmmmmm, ookay I suppose when you go into a store asking about the store's products, there is supposed to be this thing called Customer Service - this is clearly not evident at this establishment. Quality - there is none either, in fact the table that I purchased from them over a year ago had warped so badly that the top is askew and the legs teeter side to side based on the mis balance of the warp... I did not even get to mention this to him because he proceeded to call me names like idiot and freak as I was walking out. I told him to *blankety blank* himself and he ran after me threatening me and yelling at me as I walked to my car. I thought he was going to hit me, in fact at one point I thought there had to be a hidden comic camera somewhere, because this was waaaay too bizarre for anything normal and that maybe I was being Punked ??? How can anyone like this have a business? One of the first things I did when I got online today was to check out the reviews for this place. Based on the poor reviews on InsiderPages and Yelp was CWF it's a wonder that he can run it and has not pissed off the wrong person. I won't feel for him at all when he does because he will deserve it bigtime. If I can give a minus zero rating I would
Describe your experience. HORRIBLE
Did they meet your expectations? NO THEY DID NOT
Do they specialize in anything? BAD ATTITUDE
Are they a good deal? NOT UNLESS YOU NEED TO GET KICKED
Would you recommend them? NEVER.

Stay Away from Country Wood Furniture!!
by Anonymous
I wrote this same review on yelp.com and want to spread the bad news about this company to as many people possible
If I could give zero stars, that would have been more appropriate.
I like Matt T. unfortunately found Country Wood Furniture by searching online and finding San Jose Furniture, which is an online store that uses local vendors to fulfill their orders.
My wife and I purchased a bedroom set and dining table from Country Wood in August. At the time of purchasing our order, we made it VERY clear that the dining table and chairs were the most important part of the order. Considering my wife at the time was 7 months pregnant, the last thing our family needed was to be eating on the floor for an extended period of time. A very 'nice' sales rep (what a fake she was) promised that we would have the table in a week, and guaranteed no longer than two weeks. She also promised to call us the next business day (Monday) to give an update on the order....never happened.
Almost two months after our order, the table still had not arrived. Each week I would call them (b/c they're customer service is nonexistent - you'll never get a call from them), and each week I was told the same thing, "It should be here this week." I finally told them to cancel the order and was told they couldn't do that. I have since contacted my credit card company and now they are getting involved with this transaction from Hell.
Stay away from this company is the best advice I can give to anybody. They'll take your money immediately and treat you like crap once they have it. Oh yeah, did I mention the bedroom set came with multiple large scratches and chips? I decided to deal with that on my own rather than dare try to get help from the helpless.
I have since purchased a dining set from a company called Hoot Judkins. The name sounds a little odd, but the company and customer service has been astounding. I can only wish that I found them before doing business with scamming Country Wood. I believe they have been in business for 40 years which is a sign of a good company. I have searched them on Yelp and found good reviews. So if you want good wood furniture at good prices, go to Hoot Judkins and DEFINITELY steer clear of Country Wood Furtniture!

Horrific customer service
by Anonymous
Ordered 3 chairs 7/17 with promised delivery date of 8/7. Had to call the company for 5 weeks to get status updates. When we went to pick the chairs up 9/14 we found one chair to be damaged. Instead of sending the chair back and getting another one, the owner took all three chairs back and ranted about how customers complain about every scratch or poor paint stain job. He then proceeded to threaten to charge us for them anyway. Rude owner and will never do business there again.

Very Rude and suggest you carefully consider furniture you can't see
by Anonymous
Not only are they very rude (especially mike wilson) but they attempted to deliver a damaged piece of furniture to my house and when I refused to let them set it up because of the damage they refused to take it back and left without setting it up and took pieces I would need to set it up. It wasn't a flaw in the wood it was a big bubble in the stain applied to the furniture which will pop and expose unstained wood. There is also a big saw mark on the piece of furniture. Instead of simply taking it back and sending it to the manufacturer for a replacement they are refusing to help me. I tried to dispute on my credit card and Visa says that even though it's custom furniture, when I signed my credit card slip (even though sight unseen) the transaction was complete. I'm stuck with a $2K large piece of wood compliments of Country Wood Furniture. I will not do business there ever again, my friends will not do business there ever. Oh, and did I mention how rude they are? They are even visually rude. If you go into their store check out all the "funny" cartoons they have on the shelves behind the cash register. ha ha. I should have seen this coming.
Will I list my name? No I am honestly afraid of mike wilson. He knows where I live.

Verbally abused by owner
by Anonymous
I just had the most unbelievable, unpleasant, disturbing phone conversation that I have ever had with a business. I called to ask about the status of my order (which is late) and the young man who answered the phone was unable to help because I didn't have my invoice number available. I asked why, when the previous time I called without the invoice number they were able to pull up my order before I finished spelling my name, that this time they couldn't find the order. He then put the owner on the phone, who began verbally berating me without even saying hello or asking what the problem was. I barely got a word in edgewise but was basically threatened over the phone. I tried to calm him down and ask a couple of questions, but he continually cut me off, told me that I was lying, and then hung up.
One quote that was particularly amusing coming from a business owner, "Don't call back. Maybe I will call you back."
Wow.
I will obviously never do business here ever again.

Terrible customer service-RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!
by Lisa D.
If I could give less than 1 star I would. I called to ask about an order and was treated worse than dirt. These people are rude and completely inconsiderate to the customer. I have never been talked to or treated in such a way by a business person in my life. Please avoid this store if at all possible, the furniture may look nice, but the people behind the furniture are truly poor business people. I will never shop at this store again and I cancelled my order. RUDE PEOPLE=POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!
BEWARE: Also Called "San Jose Furniture Outlet" on a web search!

This was a great find! My husband and I found the perfect dining room table set for an affordable price. The delivery process was easy and we received our table in just a couple of business days. Since then, Ive gone back to purchase some bedroom furniture. We continue to enjoy the pieces that weve purchased at Country Wood.
