    INFECTIOUS

I have lived in Mill Valley (Marin County) for over 30 years. I have travel the country, even visited Europe and Asia. I have never in my entire life seen customer service so poor as i have in this county. I ask myself, is it the generation after me, perhaps they just do not know any better? Is it they are having a bad day? NO all of this is a cop out on my part, making excuses for people who should know better.

NO all of this is a cop out on my part, making excuses for people who
should know better. Did you know that one person can effect another person for over 24 hrs.with a negative attitude? It's true...for instance-- E.g. you walk into a store, and naturally the clerks are either on the phone, or talking amongst themselves, you have to walk over to them, wait for them to finish what THEY are doing; only to be treated as if you interrupted their busy day, and what an inconvenience it was for them when they had to place their hand over the cell phone receiver and ask, "yes can I help you?". "OH yeah it's over there." The clerk points in a direction indistinguishable, but has given no indication as to where "it" might be, BUT before you can ask again, she/he/the clerk is already back on the phone only this time they've conveniently positioned themselves so now their back is to you and anyone else who may need
    help.

WHAT IS THIS ABOUT? I think it is time to put a foot down. This is a
beautiful place to live, we pay dearly to live in the land of sun and fun. the police and CHP ruin my day on a regular basis, I down. certainly do not need a 15 to 25 year old's treating me like I should just go home and order everything i need via the Internet. I do this enough as is. And I am just not the type of person to make a scene. I could complain, I could write a letter, I could yell at the next guy who cuts me off. And essentially this is what happens. (Do you now see the spread of unnecessary bitterness)? The robotic mannerism has now effected my entire day.

I know I know say what you will, I should not let some person I don't even know bother me. BUT IT JUST DOES. If it happened every once in a while, fine. If it happened every other store I entered, fine. But it is EVERY SINGLE DOCTORS OFFICE, MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL, STORE CLERK, CAR REPAIR MEN, PHARMACIST, SUPER MARKET PERSONNEL, AND SO ON WHO SHOW ME LITTLE TO NO RESPECT. If you are still reading this, you too are obviously effected by what I am talking about. I think it needs to end.

Let's bring back the days when a plane landed safely; the passengers
clapped, thanking the Captain (Jesus, when did that stop and why?) Bring back the days where tips are left for the mail person, garage person and other hard working individuals They need to be thanked (appreciated) esp. around the holidays.

I guess what I am saying is, no matter how hard it is to not to get angry at the little self consumed, underpaid, over spoiled Marin County youths
around here, at least something little can bring us back to the good old days of appreciation. And I hope like wild fire it spreads. Smile at everyone, and I mean everyone, be conscious as to how you may look to others. Pretend all are watching you so you can give them a contagious smile, perhaps even chat and share a story. I promise you...it will make your day go by faster so you can get home to the one(s) you love; bringing with you feelings of
    pleasant-ness and not dread.
