I looove the Coffee Table  4 Star Rating - Very good

I think all you guys who wrote a bad review of this place really need to get over yourselves. I come to here all the time and always love it. Granted the food is a little pricey, but hey it's LA! All the food around here is over-priced. The menu is not super original menu, but there are tons of variety and choices and everything I have ever had has been great, especially the pies. mmm I love the pies. The service can be a bit slow, but the people have always been really nice and the food is good and plentiful enough that it's worth a small wait. I have never come for breakfast, but I really recommend lunch and dinner!

Nice Cafe to the Neighborhood  4 Star Rating - Very good

Great selection of food with good coffee drinks and even beer and wine (none on tap unfortunately). I recently ranked the best NELA study spots. See where The Coffee Table finished at www.yorkblvd.com

Food is awesome here!  4 Star Rating - Very good

Hi, I've never written one of these before but just wanted to let everyone know that I've been enjoying the food and service and all the dessert goodies there at the coffee table eagle rock! I am new to California and now reside in burbank. My first time at the Coffee Table.... I was waiting for a friend after I got off work and I was starving!!! The lady at the counter offered a free pastry to me to tie me over til my friend got there. I guess she felt bad for me....anyway, I thought that was generous of her to do.

I wanted to refer someone to this restaurant so i could get an address so I googled and came upon this site. I read a few reviews and coincidentally the last review that was written I happened to be there eating with my husband. Apparently the lady that worked there was just doing her job cleaning tables because the people that just walked in asked if they could sit there. She looked over and saw that there were a couple of things left on the table a sippie cup and a kids notepad or book of some sort. While she was picking up the last few things, the lady that was sitting there came back with her 2 kids and started yelling at the lady working there. I personally have worked in restaurants during college so I completely understood that people do leave personal belongings behind. It was a simple misunderstanding, Things escalated and they both went at it but the lady kept insisting she was owed an apology but when you start yelling at a person that is working and just doing their job and calling her names, you have exhausted your right to an apology at that point. No job is worth letting someone yell at you like that for. Also, I was bothered that the lady wanted her fired. I would never wish upon even my enemies to lose their job. And the whole time this happened her kids were just standing there being subjected to all of this.

I didn't want to comment on that but i thought it was necessary that even though you rarely get 2 sides of a story I wanted to put in my 2 cents as a satisfied customer.

By the way, you MUST try their pasta it's awesome! This weekend I am looking forward to trying something different!

don't waste your money to go have horrific service!  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Let me start by saying that I've been a customer of the Eagle Rock Coffee Table since they opened a few years ago. When they first opened I was delighted, the service was fabulous and the food seemed to fit the needs of my family. As time has passed the service has gotten worse and worse and worse. Tonight was the LAST time I brought my kids to eat there! On ordering service was fine. But, after a small amount of dinner was eaten by my two children and myself, my four year old announced to me that she had to use the restroom NOW! Anyone with small children will understand now means now. Anyways, we left a book and sippy cup on the table, were gone less than 5 minutes and when we came back our food had been cleared, by a girl who was completely unapologetic, said she needed the table and it was my fault for not announcing our trip to the restroom! My hungry children (in tears) were not EVER apologized to, but instead the nasty young woman was blaming me! When I commented that we had left things on the table she just insisted that I should have told her. I asked to speak with a manager and she said she is one! When I asked how long she'd been a manager, she told me 7 months (I've been coming almost 4 years and was never treated this badly), and that she wouldn't get in trouble because she's a family friend. So, if the mediocre food wasn't enough, know that the restaurant is now being run by rude, insensitive people who could care less about anyone!

This table is wobbly  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Do not eat here. What's wrong with it? It'd be quicker to write about what's right with it, but far less fun, so let's move straight to the downside. This restaurant/coffeeshop is a by-the-numbers quasi-independent pseudo-hip bore. The interior is totally from the manual on old-buiding restoration, with the standard threesome of high ceilings, exposed brickwork and polished concrete. Those three features, by the way, amplify the combined noise of customers and staff to a level that might well violate several city ordinances. With conversation lost amongst the din, your eyes will wander to the local artwork that, inevitably, adorns the walls: but don't expect much from that either, since we're unfortunately talking more Laguna Beach than MoCA. The food is standard, and you should not assume you'll get what you actually ordered. The service is slow, subliminal and rude. I never thought I'd toot the horn for capitalism, but the only reason this overpriced and surly place remains in business is that there's no competition in the local neigborhood. Please, someone, open another restaurant on the same block, and soon.

Please don't waste your time or your hard-earned money here. The service my boyfriend and I experienced Sunday afternoon was atrocious. The woman who took our order wore a sour expression and was not welcoming in the slightest. While placing our order for two burgers (one with everything and one with only lettuce and tomato), I was told in a snotty tone, I can only do one at a time. I apologized and repeated the order one at a time. When our lunch arrived, the lettuce and tomato burger only had lettuce. I didnt bother asking for a tomato, but when my boyfriend asked the waiter for a bottle of ketchup, the waiter pointed to a station where the ketchup bottles were stacked and said, Its over there. Other than delivering our meals, that was the only interaction we had with our waiter. Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt the wait staff supposed tooh, I dont knowwait on you? You know, ask if everything is okay. See if you want another drink. Don't hold your breath waiting for that here.

As for the food, both the onion rings and the chocolate strawberry cake were delicious. My burger was a bit too charred and dry for my taste, but the ketchup made it edible. The restaurant is very aesthetically appealing. The cement flooring while beautiful, made for terrible acoustics. The volume in the dining room increased to such a degree as to make conversation nearly impossible. Needless to say, we do not intend to return to The Coffee Table.

not as bad as they make it sound  4 Star Rating - Very good

i've been coming to the coffee table in e.r. and the food is pretty good. awesome tuna melt -- there tuna salad is fantastic. often very good lattes, there's lots of stuff that i end up craving if i haven't had it in a few weeks. the service isn't always great, it is hard to get take-out and they do mess up your order more times than is acceptable, but i enjoy the food enough to keep going back. and no, i don't work there.

mixed feelings  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

First of all do not get take out food! You have to wait forever and the preparation is horrible. Also, I tipped the register person and he could'nt have cared less. I have to admit eating in is much better. The food seems to have more care to it and the building is cool. Since my last lunch experience I will not be back for awhile though and of course will NEVER get take out from there again. Waste of time and money!

This place is jive, but do try the cake.  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

i was just looking on the net for the phone number for The Coffee Table. I found this site. I feel funny to be writing a bad review about a restaurant that i just ordered food from. My excuses: laziness, mainly. Also, I love Sweet Lady Jane's desserts and they have them now--even if they do allow them to get stale before replacing them with fresh. There are only a few places in Eagle Rock that serve food that's casual and supposedly a little extra nice. Also, the soups and some of the food are often good. These are the nice things about a dining experience that, if you expect to get a great deal out of a meal that's gonna set you back 10 or 15 bucks, will still ultimately let you down. I've enjoyed the Coffee Table in Silverlake for years and keep thinking this one will somehow snap into its counterpart's level of quality. After all, the prices imply a promise of quality, as do the descriptions of the food. Still, I've been to the Eagle Rock location many times and can promise you this: There will never be a time that you order food from the Coffee Table where it gets to you the way you ordered it. The staff is slow, apathetic, and unhappy. It's obvious that the reviews listed here are peppered by Coffee Table owners writing stock praise about their own place because it is simply not possible to have these experiences in a place so consistently inept. That said, I have to admit that because of the convenient location and my dislike of the extreme attitude at Fatty's, I eat at the Coffee Table a lot. I guess it's my business if I want to support the joint. The food just arrived. They forgot the bread and gave my friend onion rings instead of fries.

I'm a regular, I love the Coffee Table!  5 Star Rating - World class

The staff are ALL very friendly & efficient, I LOVE that the coffee is ORGANIC & they have soy milk. They have THE BEST veggie bean burrito
around--the red (tomato flavored) wrap spoils you for any other type of wrap, and the beans & rice are so fresh. They make the best fries, and they have a nice variety of vegan soups. I enjoy the art which changes monthly, and the photos of Eagle Rock of yesteryear. I always find parking. The restaurant is very spacious, the neighborhood is great (as is all of ER IMHO!) plus I've met alot of nice people there. It's a great place
to use your laptop or have a meeting, or sit & eat outside with your doggie.
The vibe is great, the staff is great. They now have beer & wine. If you are one of the few people who hasn't tried it out, get your butt over there!

Lazy staff and crappy food  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I have been to the coffee table several times, giving it numerous chances. I have gone on Sunday mornings, when the place is packed, hoping maybe I could get some fresh food- nope. The place is filthy, the servers are slackers, all they want is their tips and give you horrible service if you don't throw a five in their tip jar... why the hell would i tip someone to bring me my food and never be seen again? Everytime I have dinner I either get the wrong food or something is wrong, and for the price I shouldn't have to wait 40 minutes to get the wrong order!! The chips are stale, meats are dry, mashed potatoes are fake, veggie and fruit sides are skimpy, coffee tastes like crap, you have to get EVERYTHING yourself, if you so much as hint you need more dressing for the brown lettuce and tasteless veggies they call a salad, their employees shoot you a dirty look. And last of all, all the girls that work there are fat and ugly and hit on everyone that walk through the door. I will never return to this circus that fronts as a restaurant.

PROS: non.. leave eagle rock
CONS: the whole place!

The Coffee Table Eagle Rock - is 5 -star in its class!  4 Star Rating - Very good

The atmosphere is super-relaxed - I never feel rushed or un-satisfied after a meal! The club sandwich is the best -- and they don't skimp on the portions either. This is a great spot for a casual date at night or a quick business lunch. The coffee is acceptable.

PROS: Portions, Atmosphere, Staff, Clean
CONS: No Waiter Service, No Juke Box, Don't like the condiment area...

Great for a late breakfast- hard to find parking  4 Star Rating - Very good

They have fast service, great "from scratch" soups and serve breakfast everyday until 2PM. The food was quite good and the service was very friendly. Only negative - parking! Parking is extremely difficult if you go on a street cleaning day (Wednesdays, I believe).

The Best Mashed Potatoes ever Tasted!  4 Star Rating - Very good

I went to Coffee Table in Eagle Rock. Pleanty of seats and artsy tables. Excellent food and various of cool bottled sodas. Warm enviornment. I wish Coffee Table has its own parking lot. I constantly remind myself to bring some quarters for metered parking but it doesn't stop me from going there. They have excellent desserts. Their coffee taste good, remind me of home made coffee.

PROS: Excellent food especially mashed potatoes! Wonderful desserts to choose from!
CONS: Meterd Parking

Nice Look - Poor Food - No Parking  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

When I go to eat, the appearance of any location is helpful. However, no matter how nice the place looks, it does not make up for bad food. I have ordered the steak, bagel sausage sandwich, breakfast burrito and the oatmeal. -- p.s. I have no idea why I keep coming back here. Every meal was poor - too dry &/or too oily. There is also no parking. You are forced to park on the residential street behind. There are some scary looking places. I would never park there at night. All and all - do not recommend. I reluctantly admit the coffee is good.

PROS: Looks nice - retro cool. Coffee is good. Staff is nice (sometimes)
CONS: Food, parking, food, tables (made of glass mosaic and black grout - I am afraid I am eating on a culture of bacteria)

The coffee table is new to Eagle Rock. It is more of a restaurant then a coffee shop. You can order steak for dinner and a lumber of sandwiches during lunch. It is huge inside and there is patio seating. Never worry about finding a seat. The coffee is ok and they have a cool selection of bottled soda.

Good food, ok coffee. Meals are good. There is no parking. If you do not feed one of the 5 metered spots, then you must park in front of residential homes. The street does not look safe. For this reason I only go here durning daylight hours.

A little classier and less "arty" than a typical coffee house but not a full on starbucks with with a pre-fab personality. Anyway, they have a full menu...more than just nominal muffins and pastries. Good for lunch, brunch or dinner. Chase it with espresso.

More of a restaurant than coffee shop. Good breakfast menu. Endless seating. Outside patio seating closes after 7:00pm.

Love the projection TV 5 Star Rating - World class

my sister and I came by for the grand opening and tried the wine and beer as well as some appetizers. The place looks inviting and cozy, nicely decorated with darker colors, but lots of light comes through the glass walls that face Colorado Blvd. It is very tastefully decorated and as a woman, I appreciate a clean, yet hipster bar as opossed to those that cater to rough necks. Mike, the owner is truly such a warm and approchable guy, and the staff is very knowledgable and friendly. I really liked the big screen projection TV that takes up a good 125+ inches on the wall above the bar area. There would be no better place to go watch sports events than at this lounge. I heard they were having movie nights on Tuesdays (?), but the rest of the week, check out their I-tunes device for a HUGE variety of music. I really enjoyed the lounge and intend to go back there with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. I wish I lived closer, I'd probably be there at least once a week! why can't there be one of these cozy, clean, classy places in my neighborhood?

Pros: Big screen projection TV; parking; huge beer variety!!!
Cons: Bar menu, only...
