Best Hawaiian food restaurant I can find. I usually order the 442 combo to get two types of meat. I recommend the galbi, sesame chicken, and pulled pork. If you're in the area, make a stop and try it out. They also have Hawaiian shaved ice.

Shaka's has been around for quite some time. They have a wide variety of Hawaiian foods, but seriously...
Nothing beats the heat of their Shave Ice!
They have a long list of flavors with many ways to customize the order (i.e. ice cream, condensed milk, etc)
Go if you have a chance :)

We love Shaka's. The kuala pork bowl is to die for, as well as the chicken salad. The shaved ice is so refreshing and they have a lot of flavors to choose from. The staff is very friendly.

Shakas on Garfield and Riggin is a decent spot for Hawaiian style food. The kalua pork and loco moco is good here. The dish that I like the most from this Shakas is the mochiko chicken. And the window display of the large stack of Spam cans makes me feel like I've reach luncheon meat heaven.

Pros: Good Japanese Hawaiian Food

If you are in the area of Monterey part, the food here is great. The best part about it is, after you are done eating, you have to get a shaved ice on the way out. They have about 25-50 different flavors to chose from. I am sure it is less than 50, but the board is so huge, it seems like 100. But anyways, their kalua pork is to die for. Whether you have it in a bowl or plate lunch, you have to try it. If you love chicken, try the sesame chicken, it's also too good. If you are in for a drink i suggest a Hawaiian sun.
The only downfall is that it is quite a drive, although they did expand to the OC area, but the parking is hard. If it is busy there, you have to park on the street. But go, it's worth a visit. It's even worth the drive.

The good thing is they just opened up another business in the OC area.

Shakas use to be one of my favorite restaurants to get chicken katsu or kalua pork, but ever since they increased their prices on the menues, i rarely go back. i think it's pointless to have the idea of served dinners at your booth in the evening time. They should just stick with self serving like a fast food joint. When ordering food via phone, they are usually quick in making the food for you, which shortens the waiting time. Other than that, the food is okay.

PROS: good chinese chicken salad
CONS: too expensive

Shakas is a great location for a high school hangout. This is mainly because the help consists of younger workers. The food is consistantly good. Great hawaiian atmosphere that matches the food. Shaved ice is wonderful on a hot day. The table and chair could use some updating, but otherwise decent. Nice place.

The sweltering San Gabriel Valley summer is beating down on you and you can't find solace in boba. Where do you go for your Hawaiian shaved ice and Japanese Hawaiaan home cooking? Shakas answers this question. Nestled on the corner of Riggin and Garfield Avenue in Monterey Park, Shakas serves up tvs, air conditioning, and good food at decent prices ($5 average). If you like pork, try the kahlua pork bowl. If you like salads, I highly recommend their "Chinese Chicken Salad" with their own punchy red salad dressing. If you want to go to town, there are specials like the 442nd (named after the famous Japanese American regiment in WWII) which includes a number of the popular items. If you just want to cool out, there is the shaved ice. Be warned, parking can often be competitive.
