This Chinese restaurant, Hunan Home's Restaurant can hold upto 80 people in their banquet room. Serving appetizers, soups, fowl and beef entrees, this restaurant also serves seafood dishes. Guests get a choice of different kinds of fried rice, ranging from chicken fried rice to shrimp fried rice and a selection of chow mein dishes.
The orange peel beef is the best! And the "String beans ala Hunan." And while you're at it, try the succulent home-style bread, but have it steamed so you can feel extra-healthy.
Pros: free parking!

Great food...and consistently good service. A great place to bring friends and family. The honey walnut prawns are soooo fine and the potstickers melt in your mouth. Go for the spicy eggplant or snowpea leaves wth garlic. We've never had even a mediocre meal at this restaurant.

Hunan Home has become as much of a San Francisco tradition as Pier 39, The Presidio, Golden Gate Park, and "the bridge".
I never give family or friends the tour of San Francisco without including a trip to Hunan Home in Chinatown. It features exceptional food -- the very
best Prawns in Honey & Walnut, incredible Sizzling Eel, awesome Orange Chicken. The service is very fast-paced, yet not rushed, friendly and attentive.
Hunan Home is The Best Chinese Restaurant in the entire Bay area -- bar none!
Pros: great value, authentic flavors, awesome service
Cons: none

I have been eating at Hunan Home for over 15 years. This restaurant has an exceedingly high standard of friendliness and service set by Mr Cy Yuan (rest his soul). This standard is honored by James Yuan and his entire family and staff. The food also is consistently excellent. This restaurant is one of the true gems in Chinatown. There are those who say all the good restaurants have moved to the avenues and to other bay area locations. The those I say "Try Hunan Home's"
Also of note: the Yo Nan Tarng Mien (Beef Stew Soup Noodle) is the best this side of the Pacific!!

My favorite Chinese restaurant. Great food, service and value (especially on the daily lunch specials). It's no wonder I go there at least once a week, sometimes more. I've already been there twice this week and it's only Tuesday.
Pros: Food, Value, Service

As an Airline Captain, I eat 'out' far more often than I eat a home. Lunch at Hunan Homes has been a once or twice weekly experience for me for the last 5 years or so, Can I call it the Worlds best Chinese Eatery (!?)..I Have a few absolute favourites ( Honey Walnut Prawns, Beef with Orange Peel, and various 'Soup Noodles', and of course, the perfect potstickers) but suffice to say, ALL his dishes are excellent. Freshness & Cleanliness obviously top James & Lillians list of priorities, and the simple decor of the restaurant is a very suitable venue for anything from a quick lunch, to a family dinner. Service is efficient, a plus for work-force types with limited time, but one never feels 'rushed'. I just left Hunan's a few hours ago (lunchtime)....and regret that since duty calls later today, I can't get back for dinner too!!
Pros: Excellent Food, Clean Surroundings, Fast Service
Cons: None

We have been eating at James' restaurant for many years. We frequently eat Chinese, often experimenting and trying new restaurants. Our goal is to find a restaurant better than the last. We ALWAYS come back to see James and his superb waitstaff. Of course, we come for the food, but it also happens to be a very clean, very traditional, very friendly and the food is very fresh. Within the last year they started validated parking. There's no excuse to not drive anymore!!! Good luck to you. With warmest regards, Marc and Margi (from SF)
Pros: FRESH FOOD, FAST, FRIENDLY STAFF, VALIDATED PARKING
Cons: NONE
