Good sandwiches, ridiculous wait. They have you order by filling out a form yourself and leaving it on a stack on the counter. That is fine, however you could be waiting a very long time since they don't make them in order. There were about 20 slips on the counter when I put mine on and I had to wait like 30 mins for my sandwich. I also bought these local SLO tortilla chips that were delicious!

All I really have to say is this place has B O M B sandwiches, only downside is the place is too small and too crowded, but man is it worth it after you get that delicious sandwich. Can't wait to go back!!

Great Sandwiches! We come here alot- they have a good selection of beers and chips too- the vintage decor is kinda fun... the sandwiches are thick and you wont be hungry when you are done! Not much seating so we take out alot.

Good food, great location, always busy! The sandwiches are worth the wait if you have time! Tough to find a place to sit, but you can always walk to Emerson Park a few blocks away to sit and enjoy your food.

I have never been disappointed with High Street and I've tried almost everything they have. The sandwiches are well sized (although Kona's are bigger but not as quality) and have a good amount of meat on them. All of the ingredients are quality and you can really taste the difference from other, less reputable sandwich shops. I'd highly recommend the daily special, although you generally have to get there early to take advantage of it. The best deal is the $4.20 special where any sandwich is only $4.20 after 4:20pm. Some of the specials run over $7 so you really do get a deal on it, but you have to be quick as they're only open til 5. The place is really small so if you go at prime eating hours (lunch or 4:20-5), don't expect to get a table without a fight.

High Street Deli has terrific sandwiches. The sandwiches are custom made to order, as you get to pick what goes on yours. I usually get turkey on sourdough and the sandwich ends up measuring about 6-7" high. (I'm not kidding.) It's just crammed full of meat and yumminess. The only downside is the place gets PACKED with locals, mostly Cal-Poly students, and the wait can easily take up to an hour after placing your order. So, go before you even get hungry, or you may just eat every chip in teh building before you get to your sandwich.

Pros: Great, reasonably priced food

I live just a hop, skip and a jump from High Street Deli. My favorite sandwich is the basic turkey with provolone on a french roll with the works. Yum! What I love about this sandwich is the french roll. It's soft and always fresh tasting. I'm sure they serve more adventurous sandwiches, but I'm a creature of habit. The counter persons are always nice and the sandwich makers are quick. Trust me, this deli is worth taking a short walk away from downtown.

Rumor around town is that Brad Pitt once ate here. The sandwiches are good, but kind of expensive. Everybody buzzes about their sandwiches and chances are you won't be disappointed. But in a town FILLED with great sandwich joints, this isn't really the end all be all of sandwich places.

PROS: food
CONS: small, don't expect to eat there

its been a while but I wanted to drop a review on this spot. High st's got some of the best deli sandwhichs in town... great spot but a little off the downtown path. It's got that small town local feel with the antique decor and even a small bench out front to catch some sun, snack on the grub because you can't wait to get it home...
