I had a really bad experience after being a customer for over 8 years. The front desk and the on-duty vets showed total indifference to my dog - who was in such pain and distress that she could not walk or even stand on her feet - and because I had not made a prior appointment I had to wait for about three hours for the first available appointment slot. I NEVER went back and found another vet that day (who saw and treated my dog immediately) with whom I am VERY happy.

A vet who truly only cares about money. I took my dog, who was the happiest dog you could ever meet, he LOVES people and the vets office and petco and all that jazz...I took him there to get neutered and never again could I take him to a vets office. When I went to pick him up the next day he was crying and screaming, for the next week he wouldn't let anyone touch him without crying and he'd bundle himself in a ball in the corner. This is a dog that never ever seemed to run out of energy and happiness. After that, whenever I tried even walking near a vets office he'd crap himself. On another occassion my other dog was throwing up/diarrheaing blood, I called them early in the morning and told them it was an emergency and explained her symptoms...they told me "they didn't consider throwing up/diarrheaing an "emergency"". Never again will I take a pet there, NEVER!

I have read all the reviews and I disagree with the ones who posted negatives...Honestly this place is one of the best Vets we have come across...The place is ALWAYS spotless and the staff has always been very nice to us. Dr Cisneros is there every Saturday now and we have to say that he is a Dr. who listens and understands and has a genuine love for animals. He has always been honest with us about our Kenny (Canine) and has given him the best possible treatment. In 13 years we have been to several Vet's and this Dr. is by far the BEST!!!

To Victoria...
Actually, a dog CAN die from eating a foreign object, even a sock. I have seen socks become unraveled and stretch throughout the intestines. If one part of the sock stays while the other part continues into the digestive tract, it can bunch the intestines, therefore cutting off the blood flow to parts of the intestine. Once that part of the intestine starts to deteriorate due to lack of oxygen, then you will get a hole-punch effect on the intestine. When digestive fluids leak out into the abdominal cavity, it kills the dog.

Debbie did the right thing in bringing her dog to a vet, and thankfully a less expensive one.

You Got Jipped
to Debbie B and anyone else who thinks that a dog needs surgery after eating a sock... just wanted to inform you that any dog will not die if he or she eats a sock. i have a runt rottweiller and ever since she was a puppy (4 years old) she has been eating socks and rocks and tissue and gross things in the trash... it always came out the other end no matter what. i feel really sorry forr debbie b for spending any money at all for a surgery that was completely unnessesary. the only thing i would be worried about is if she or he eats something poisoness for example like rat poison just take he or she to saugus vets animal hospital and they will just make the dog vomit it out no pointless surgery. :]]

My dogs go to the vet often, and we have tried many vets over the years. I found that Dr. Barrera is very honest, like a country vet. He's very personal, and cares about his patients. (He often helps animals from the Castiac shelter at no charge.) He solved many medical problems that arose, and did so with compassion. All good veterinary care is expensive, however, I know for a fact that Dr. Barrera is reasonable compared with others. Dr. Barrera has performed numerous surgical procedures that have all been successful. That says a lot to me! He's humble enough to admit when a problem requires a second opinion, or a specialist, and he will recommend someone. His staff is dedicated, and though they may be busy at times, and may not give the warm welcome that customers want, the staff is on top of your pet's medical needs.. For birds, turtles, and other creatures, I recommend finding a specialty vet because the care is so different for these species. Dr. Barrera is excellent with dogs and cats.

I have always received great care at VIP. Always given a written estimate before any major surgery on my dogs.
We had to put our 17yr old dog down due to illness and Dr. Barrera came to our home to put him to sleep. Dr. Barrera was very compassionate and understanding.
I would highly recommend VIP to anyone looking for a doctor who takes his time with the animals and is always willing to answer any questions you may have.

We should have listened to the other honest reviews and known better. We had our dogs teeth cleaned and they quoted us a price of $150 on the phone...needless to say we walked out with a bill of almost $400. Be very wary of the price they quote you and get it in witting...LOTS of 'nickel and diming' here. Additionally, the receptionist was very short and the Vet seemed to try and guilt trip you if you didn't get every last treatment our dog apparently could really use. We definitely won't be back. Not a good experience at all.

I think this place is great. Friendly staff, the Dr. is great and the office is clean. They were the cheapest place when calling around to get our dog fixed. The only complaint I have is that our dog is currently being kept there for three days and because they are closed there is no way of calling to check on him. They need to have a separate phone number so that I can call after hours or weekends to check on him. I have to sit here and wait three days to hear back cause I have no way of calling.

We took our dog here because he swallowed a sock. After spending 500.00 for x rays they quoted us a cost of 2500.00 to 3000.00 more! When we said we could not afford it there was no compromise on the price. We were left with the thought of putting down our 1 year old mastiff. They then told us we could take him to the pound to put him down. The Dr. did not budge on the price even with our crying children in the room. Luckily we found a caring vet in Semi Valley ( Dr. Ron's Animal Hospital ) who did the surgery for 1000.00. Amazing price difference. Ii is obvious to me VIP cares more about money then the animals he is supposed to help.!

The most striking element of our experience during a crisis at VIP was how generous both Dr. Barrera and his stand in Dr. Hircshbein (as well as all the staff) were with their time. They all were extremely patient and helpful with all the difficult decisions we had to make concerning the care of an eleven year old St. Bernard mix. I was always pleased with the care she received during regular visits but I was overwhelmed by the compassionate and generous care she received during the crisis. After surgery she survived this one. No matter the outcome I couldn't have asked for more from a veterinarian and his staff.

I would highly not recommend VIP to anyone looking for a vet. We took our tortoise in with a slight cold and they did not only kill it but didn't even call to tell us he had died. I do not trust their vets or staff.

I highly recommend VIP Vet Hospital. It is very clean facility. Very well equipped hospital, they took care of my little cat immediately in a fast and efficiently manner. Dr. Barrera is always there and he takes care of the pets in person. The staff is bilingual and they are courteous and nice. They really met my expectations.

The doctors & staff are just not the same since
Dr. Cisneros sold VIP to Dr. Barrera. It has been awhile now and there is still no improvement. They don't even know who you are when you walk in the door.

TOTALLY DISAPPOINTING!

This veterinarian is caring and has a nice and friendly staff working there. The office is clean and is usually not that busy. I have had to take a friends dog there for her and they were always very nice to me. They can keep your dog or cat overnight if need be and are always very good at keeping you up to date on the status of your pet.
