4 Stars: Good choice for touring San Fran (by Kevin K.)

Right on the Powell St. Cable car line, so easy access to the Warf. Right in the heart of the shopping district, a very cool area and an old and majestic hotel. The lobby is breathtaking. A good spot all in all.

5 Stars: A great treat (by Priyanka D.)

I had the opportunity to stay here for a day and it was truly a wonderful experience. The service is great and the rooms have a beautiful view overlooking the Union square. On the Christmas eve, the hotel was beautifully decorated with a huge cake castle in the lobby. The in house bar has a great ambiance and food was pretty good.

5 Stars: Reliable. Great service (by liam m.)

It's always a toss-up where to stay in San Francisco but the St. Francis is one of my preferred choices. You can take a wonderful evening stroll after work, enjoy a number of restaurants within the area and, if you prefer not to walk, take the cable car. A cable car stop is located right outside the hotel. Also they have some of the most beautiful suites in the city. Also there are chandeliers - yes, chandeliers. This hotel is older compared to other hotels in San Francisco.

At my first stay, the room that I initially booked was too small. The management took care of this immediately. They had no problems upgrading me to a suite instantly and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. The views of the city below is spectacular. The decor is a bit boring. The look of the lobby and rooms seems uninspired (in a "stately" kind of way), but certainly, this is not a "boutique" designer hotel, so it doesn't make that much of a difference.
