Almond Tile Cookie
We were out shopping and decided we wanted a little sweet treat. We stopped at Sogo Bakery and couldn't believe the assortment of cookies to choose from. The best for me were the coconut macaroons and my friend really enjoyed the madelines that came in all sort of flavors. Great place and prices.

I loved the Fruit Tart. When I use to live in the area, I would always get my birthday cakes from Sogo. I would say its like a Hong Kong style bakery, with its fluffy cakes, and sweet tarts.

STRONGLY suggest you try the fruit tart. Its like a tart, with no so sweet custard with fresh strawberries, kiwis and berries.

Also, you have to try there chocolate cake, the cake itself is fluffy, and the icing isn't super sweet, but more coffee flavored.

I always go here to pick up a birthday cake whenever the occasion demands it. Their fruit cake is something to behold - a not-too-sweet cake layered with frosting, coconut shreds on the edges, and a beautifully arranged top layer adorned with peaches, kiwis, and strawberries.

The cake costs ~$20 but is well worth it.

Sogo bakery is in the Lion's complex as well as Bijon. Sogo is connected to Lion's though and is right next to the chinese food place (also very good). They have the traditional asian bakery style, where all the pastries are on display and it is up to you to choose your treat and just take them up to the counter to pay. They do have sweets (of course) but they have great little snacks as well, such as hot dogs wrapped in dough or pizza like snacks that have sauce and cheese. If you go in the morning or at lunch you can find most of their snacks, but after work, most are sold out. They do have cakes as well and I think they can make specific ones for you, but I have never asked. I love their lady fingers. All snacks and small treats are very cheap (1-3 dollars).

Mmm...Sogo bread is fantastic. Just the right amount of tenderness and density. This place is a must for bread lovers. It is really hard for me to choose a favorite pastry here. I have different phases. I was very attached to the mexican bun for a few months; it is a baked bun with a crispy sweet layer on top, chewy middle, and buttery cream custard in the center. It is pretty filling for breakfast and only $1.00. The staff speaks conversational English. It's pretty much 'in and out' over here, buy and go.
