Sushi Sei is a Hermosa fixture. I've been going there for over 20 years.\r
What can I say. Great fresh sushi, interesting combinations of flavors, new specials every weekend and an amazing sake list. How does a small local place do it so

I'm surprised in reading very old reviews. Sushi Sei is under new management for about two years. The Restaurant went through total transformation. They remodeled the interior, expanded their menu. What really draws me in coming back over

I go here every time I'm in LA. I ask the sushi chef to make me whatever he wants and it's all very good. Nice master chef too. Can't go wrong and if it's happy hour the price is right.

While the sushi chefs are delightful, the onwer (the WARDEN who guards the door) is not friendly at all. If you go for "happy hour", but sure to arrive promptly at 5:30 or you will not get a seat at the bar. And heaven-forbid you SHOULD sit at the bar and ask to save a seat for your friend who is parking the car! You will immediately get a scolding that they "do not save seats!!" OH.. better yet- sit at the bar, and order a beer while you're waiting. That really irritates him. Quite honestly, I have enjoyed this restaurant for many years now, but lately I have been very disappointed in the treatment I have personally received (again, NOT referring to the sushi chefs). Maybe I'll just take my $150 cash down the street to Club Sushi instead.

Pros: delicious specials, great head chef

Cons: small bar, unfriendly owner

This place was ok. I just moved to the area and have been trying few places from Manhattan Beach area and most of the sushi place in Hermosa. They are just all about the same. Service is ok, food is ok. Ambience was just alright too. Sushi seems average. I can go back to pick up food-to-go, but I don't know if I want to sit and wait and tip. Maybe I expected way too much?

This place has good sushi, but I always like to try New style sushi too..so I mayyyybe they can get more creative and do more of the special rolls.

I mean, they're sushi's pretty good, decent. =)

But I usually end up having to wait ..cuz not to be mean, but this place is a bit small for a restaurant so close to the beach. =\
