Bijan Bakery & Cafe is not so great

by Amanda G.

I think it's funny so many people mentioned the female owner in their reviews. Mainly, it was the owners' attitudes that made me quit. I worked there for a short time and things are not how they appear from the front of the store. I definitely would not eat there.

Here's some examples of why: some of the things in the display sit there from open to close, the tools for making sandwiches are not washed throughout the day and have old mustard, mayo and avocado on them, the milk for espresso drinks is sometimes left sitting and is contaminated with other milks because some of the employees don't wipe down the steamer, and the espresso machine things usually have old grounds caked in them.

When I worked there, I tried to clean things before I used them, but I was not trained to do so.

Impressive Bakery - No Issues

by Michael P.

After reading the preceding reviews, one would truly wonder about this establishment. From our experience, the owners were courteous, polite and very attentive. We went into detail as to the type of wedding cake, decorations, and presentation. To say the least, we were not disappointed. In fact many of our guests were very impressed and asked as to who did such a fantastic job. I agree that the price is premium, but the taste and quality exceeds. All I have to say is what comes around goes around. We were extremely impressed by the service and the quality of the cake. No delays here.

BUYER BE WARE

by Anonymous

After ordering a birthday cake for my daughter's 7th birthday party from Bijan all we got were promises of "the best cake you will have" Except on the day of they didn't have the cake ready, wanted me to wait 2 hours until they baked me a new one! HELLO? This was after I called and CONFIRMED with the owners wife that the cake was ready?? She was rude and insulting, telling me that it was the detail of the design that had the cake delayed? well, why not call me then I asked her, why tell me it is ready? She had no answers, all she did was insult my design (a simple barbie cake that you can get at safeway was too hard for them to "design" WOW! she then mumbled something in her native language(they are Iranian) Good thing our good friends are persian and i understood her insults! Needless to say I stormed out of there! Went to Safeway got a delicious cake for 1/5 the price and NO rude, bitchy attitude. Now to get my money back was another ordeal! yeah they make you pay before you pick up!(well at least the owner's wife did) I wanted to tell her to shove her Louis Vuitton she has displayed out there up her behind! But I didn't
BUYER BE WARE! RUDE, INSULTING, LIARS!
Oh and the cakes are not that great! Copenhagen In Burlingame makes WAAAAAY better cakes and has been in business longer!

Do not go to this bakery

by Anonymous

If the bad service was the only issue i could have dealt with that but i think the health department should close this place. I have seen the owner and the employees handle money and food when i brought it up to their attention i was told by the same women that everybody is complaining about i can go ahead and shopp somewhere else I have also seen rats in the back.No way will i ever buy from them again.

Bad Customer Service by the Owner

by Anonymous

This place was awful. After waiting in line for about 10 minutes, some rude lady helped up to pick a cake for our daughter's birthday party. She brushed us off so quickly and was so rude that my wife asked to talked to the owner. Only to figure out SHE WAS THE OWNER. We have not set foot in that place since 2005

Fine bakery but poor attitude

by Anonymous

I came to this place with a recomendation I got from a local residence of San Jose to get a Birthday Cake for my son. It is truly a fine french bakery, I would say. Except a bad attitude of the lady owner I witnessed on my own self.

Great Cakes!

by Heather C. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 760

I love the white cake with whipped cream frosting and different fruits inside! This place has the best cakes around. We almost used them for our wedding, but it was to pricey to get cake there for 250 people. But for a birthday party or when you just want something yummy, this is the place to go.

Delicious French Bakery

by Josiane S.

If you like French Bakeries this is the place to go. It is a small place but the pastry is delicious. They also have sandwiches hot and cold drinks but the best is their cakes. My favorite pastry is called Napolitan it is an individual piece and it is also known as Mille Feuilles in France.

PROS:
CONS: I wish it was a bigger place, sometimes it is packed

Great cakes for a special occasion

by Anonymous

Bijan is an Iranian bakery I believe (they have newspaper articles all over the walls stating this), even though they are in the lion's complex. I've had their morning pastries as well as the cakes all are great. The only thing against them, the price. I think the pasteries were 3-4 dollars each and the cakes are around 25 dollars. But they are very good. The strawberries on my birthday cake were very sweet and a perfect compliment to the light cake and frosting. There is a line at this place and they have a good efficent number system, but go early if you have to rush.

Bijan Bakery & Cafe

by ida o. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,693

Oh my God - you have to try goodies from the Bijan Bakery & Cafe - they are delicous! I bought sooo many cookies there and I share my passion with all of my friends - they too buy their staff all the time there. The lines get large often but you really can't beat the quality. Prices are on a higher side as well.

Bake me some

by Elaine Z. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,273

When you walk in the friendly smell of coffee greets you, also the really sweet taste of baked goods. This is a great place to have breakfast or a quick bite on the go. They have tons of different kinds of pastries (variety is always good); fruit filled, cheese, meat. They even have a pizza pastry, kind of weird but still edible. This is a Chinese bakery and there is a Chinese supermarket right next to it too.
