At the foot of one of Joshua Tree National Park's entrances lies the unassuming, quirky yet completely unpretentious Crossroads Cafe. Their organic coffees are strong and tasty, and the staff is easygoing and ready to veganize most of their sizeable yet totally affordable plates if you desire. I went for both dinner and breakfast during our brief stay in town, and it was great both times. Help yourself to the silverware, and don't forget to bus your own plate at the end of the meal.

But, to be fair, it' s one of the few restaurants in Joshua Tree. Located conveniently near the front of the park entrance, Crossroads Cafe attracts tourists, rock-climbers and artists to its pleasantly bohemian domain. Great breakfast food, including a fair array of choices for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. No fried food (I don't think they have a deep fryer) so you won't get fries with that veggie burger -- but the omelettes are good, and the sandwiches are always hearty and tasty. Friendly service, with microbrews on tap and a full array of espresso drinks available too.

Pros: Good food 'n drinks with a bohemian twist

Cons: No fries, chai tea is a little watery

This place has a great feel the minute you walk into the door. I love how the place is decorated. The food is outstanding, especially the TBA. They have coffee drinks and smoothies. What a delight to visit this place.
