While it's definitely gone downhill since Emeryville has developed more shopping centers, this has always been a favorite place of mine. It's fun to walk around and choose a different cuisine, and the atmosphere feels really open and neat. It's a great place to go to after you've finished watching a movie, and afterwards you can head over to the arcade!

This place at first glance is fun!! It is so hard to find parking, and you may end up driving around a few times before you find a spot. This place is a fast food heaven. Everything that I have ever eaten had been fast, and piping hot. The food has not always been good, except for philly cheesesteaks. Most of the places are Asian, Mexican or Middle eastern there are a few places in which they have american food. It is kind of weird to find mexican people making thai food. Or Chinese people making Indian food. I find that really bizarre, and the food is decent. I actually found the prices to be quite high. For a dish with a drink is about $7 and the quality is not really there. If you are looking for something quick and decent its a great one stop shop. Be prepared to wait in long lines and get there early between 11:00-11:30 to get the fresh food, and not stuff that has been sitting out for long!!

PROS: Fast
CONS: Parking is horrible

My kids thought they walked into heaven the first time I brought them here. They're both open minded foodies who love to try new things. Their favorite is the Afghani food with the chicken kebobs and tofu curry. The fact that everyone

Pros: quick, cheap, great selection

Cons: some places are cash only, can be hard to find seating during weekday lunches

So many nations represented under one roof, in a food court style - where the excellent food is only surpassed by the incredibly low price.

Go here when you can't agree with fellow diners on the type of cuisine. Under one roof, you'll find Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, Italian, Mexican food, and more. Food is cafeteria-style at most places, but some is made to order. If you linger at a counter, someone will stick out a toothpick with a piece of curry chicken for you to sample. Theoretically, if you were poor and starving, you could probably walk around and linger and eat at each place. There's also videogames and a Borders on premises. Large parking lot.

The highlight of the Emeryville Public Market is its giant "food court" type area, which specializes in ethnic foods. There are many different food counters (each is a separate business). Each member of the family can pick their favorite; each of you can eat food from a different country all at the same meal. Overhead you will find many international flags displayed. One of the businesses is a salad bar (you make your salad and pay by weight) for the more health-conscious.
This is NOT a fine dining experience, but its a fun place to eat because of the variety. You take your tray and find a seat - just like you might in a mall food court. The chairs are those white plastic lawn-furniture types and the tables can be dirty at times. When it is busy you will probably have to share a table with strangers (each dining group will stick to its own end of the table). The food is not exactly cheap, considering the budget-style atmosphere of the place but it IS reasonably priced and a decent value. (Similar price or slightly more expensive than a typical fast-food meal.)

PROS: My wife gets her gyros fix but I can eat something else!!!
CONS: Noisy, tables dirty at times, may have to share table with strangers

As a graduate student at Cal, I don't have that much spare cash to go around. So, the Public Market is perfect for good food at low cost. The food court has an excellent variety of cuisines to choose from: French (crepes), Chinese, East
