Our family loves this place. Quick, easy seating, standard issue good chinese food, reasonable priced, get in, get out. Chop. Chop. No pleasantries, and I am fine with that.

A friend recommended Taiwan a couple of years ago and I've been going back ever since. Their food has been consistently tasty and they have a very good selection on their menu. It does get crowded, so takeout is also a good option.

The food and atmosphere are both great. I usually get take-out from this place as its easy & always prompt. Food is outstanding; a little disappointed that they charged for rice... but seems to be happening at a lot of places these days.

Try the walnut shrimp & Mongolian beef.

Taiwan has been in Willow Glen for as long as I have and it now qualifies as an institution. This family owned and operated restaurant serves the finest in Chinese cuisine in an unbelievable atmosphere. The restaurant is just gorgeous with incredible floral arrangements created by the owner and beautiful original oil paintings created by his wife.Luckily this restaurant is now passing on to the second generation. It is so popular you may want to get there early in the evening especially on weekends.

Probably the best Chinese food in San Jose, certainly Willow Glen. I've never had anything I didn't think was very good here. The take-out is good and pretty quick. The service is usually good but can be slow. The place gets very busy on weekends.

The atmosphere is pretty standard Chinese restaurant. It's an OK place to bring kids if they can stand the occasional wait (or just bring it home). Parking behind the restaurant is OK but not great.

Located on Lincoln Ave. in Willow Glen, Taiwan always serves great-tasting Chinese food--Szechwan, Cantonese and Taiwan specialties. Inexpensive and a great value. Nicely decorated with pale-pink linens and large, dramatic and beautiful floral displays, as well as many original paintings. Always busy, especially on weekends, so reservations are recommended. They also do take-out. Favorites are Szechuan shrimp, Changsha chicken, hot and sour soup, many others. Always tastes great.

Do not go to Taiwan if you are a party of two. You risk being seated in the center bank of tables, where there is 1/2 to 1 inch of space between the tables. It is impossible to carry on a conversation without listening to your neighbors' conversations. You also have a not-so-lovely view of the waitress as she tries to angle into the minimal space between the tables to deliver your neighbors' meal.

My friend and I will not return there as a party of two until something is done about the seating in the center bank of tables.

Cons: 1/2 to 1 inch of space between the tables for two in the center - no privacy, conversation impossible, food delivery impossibly difficult

Nestled in Willow Glen is the Taiwan Restaurant which offers classy California-Chinese cuisine equal to Mandarin Gourmet (in Cupertino) and PF Changs. If you are looking for authentic homestyle Chinese food from a distinct province, search in San Francisco, Milpitas and Cupertino. If you are looking for a fresh, friendly, well decorated, and refined Chinese restaurant created for a California palette, go to Taiwan Restaurant.

My recommendation would be to start with the Mu Shu Salmon as an appetizer, rather than a main dish. It is a symbol of everything special about Taiwan. The Salmon, as opposed to the more common Mu Shu Pork, speaks of the restaurants freshness and creativity. The salmon is perfectly cooked and the dish is filled with crunchy cabbage, soft eggs, and Hoisin sauce, that will whet your appetite.

If you prefer a soup, the Hot & Sour, Won Ton and Sizzling rice soups are all cooked with perfect consistency, clean sharp flavors, and with a light fresh feel. Everything tastes exactly the way it should.

As a main coarse, I would suggest: the Changsha chicken (chicken and bamboo shoots - spicy & perfect, served in a foil swan); Firecracker chicken, Wok Seared Scallion Beef filet (tasty beef morsels infused with a diliciously balanced marinade with fresh scallions); and the Honey Walnut Shrimp.

The only other thing that I must mention is the decor. The owner is a master artist who loves to create large, dramatic and beautiful floral displays. There is a multitude of original paintings and terrific newspaper food reviews on the wall, but its the floral displays that will wow you. The bottom line - great tasting, creative food, with classy & fun presentations in a restaurant with beautiful decor. Treat yourself and vist Taiwan Restaurant.

Though I love Chinese food, I am a stickler for quality. Taiwan is great! It is family owned and delicious. Service is friendly, food prompt, and taste delicious.

My friend and I recently had dinner here. The food and service was below average. The food was way too sweet! We also felt rushed. I do not recommended this restuarant. I hope a good chinese restaurant opens in the area soon.

My husband and I were strolling in Willow Glen one evening and decided to try this restaurant out because there were so many people inside. The ambiance is nice, but all of the dishes we ordered came with sauces that were laden with sugar. This is definitely NOT authentic Chinese food, or even particularly good Chinese American food, but food for people who like whatever they eat sweet and swimming in sauce. We won't go back again,

Taiwan is always busy because the food is just outstanding! The service is excellent and the prices very reasonable. Due to its popularity, it can at times be crowded and noisy. My favorites are the Mu Shu Pork, Hot and Sour Soup, Cashew Chicken - well, I guess I've never had a dish here I didn't like. And the fresh floral arrangements are magnificent.

If you're hungry, this restaurant located in the cozy Willow Glen neighborhood isn't bad for American style Chinese food. I would not consider the food authentic Chinese/Taiwanese at all.

However, the prices are cheap and portions generous. Waitresses are rather attentive and helpful even during busy nights. The decor is attractive with fresh bouquets of flowers everywhere. The food is satisfying and not prepared in a sloppy manner.

Taiwan's graceful interior has half-mirrored walls, large flower arrangements, and red tablecloths on the mahogany-stained tables. All the popular Chinese restaurant favorites are here: lemon chicken, moo shu pork, meat and vegetable…
