Excellent Spa

by Calendula S. | insider Insider | Rank: 31,903

I have always had wonderful experiences at this spa, it is little, and it may not be an overpriced, way too fancy and big spa, but that isn't what really counts, now is it? The person who wrote the review that said they walked in and then just walked out is missing out.
The massage therapists are the best in town. They are proffessional and listen to their clients. I too will be back.

Loved This place!

by betty n.

I had the best experience here. I found this place while driving around my neighborhood. It is very cute and cozy. I booked a massage and was very surprised by the therapist. His name was Jimmy and boy did he give me a great massage. I definately would come back. By the way, I got on their email list and man, they send me half off coupons. I'm so happy I can get a massage every week.

Happy Returning Customer

by Maryberry

I am a very happy client. I've been to this place many times and have had nothing but a great experience every time. I'm writing today because I see the previous review seems highly unfair. I do not know who (****) in her corn flakes but this place is not even close to her review. The owner is always friendly and curteous to her staff and she has very little staff changes. In fact the owner is there at the spa working and I like that. It seems like she has great quality control.
Anyway I do recommend this place and I will continue to support this business.

Pros: Prices, Services, & Friendly Staff

Cons: Not open Sundays

Great Gift many years in a row

by ebndrn

For the past 4 years I have purchased a gift certificate for my sister to this spa. She says she enjoys it and keeps asking me for more gift massages every year. I have to assume they are doing something right! Thank you for making my gifts a great experience.

Long Time Client

by yoman111

I'm a long time client and I think this place is great. I've always gotten quality service and very resonable prices. I see other people knocking this place and I don't get it. I believe that after you try them you will be among many of their satisfied customers. I can't wait for my next visit.

Happy To Have Found This Gem

by SecretSquirrel08

I am so happy to have found this gem of a place. I was given a certificate for Christmas of two years ago and I finally got around to using it. I was sorry to have waited so long. I had a wonderful massage with Junien. She found my knots and took care of them. I was so relaxed that I fell asleep. I highly recommend this place and I plan to return.

don't see what people are complaining about

by allya2

I saw a special in the news and review for this day spa and decided to schedule a facial and massage. I went on this website and found out that people were complaining left and right about this place. I'm not really sure what all the complaining is about. The owner was friendly when I walked in and escetician and massage therapist were great. They were friendly too. The place is in an older building and the space is small, but it was clean and comfortable.

Beautiful pedicure!

by jamcrysha

I googled "Best pedicure in Sacramento", and came across Blue Sky Day Spa. I read the reviews, some great, some poor, and decided to check things out for myself. I was a little apprehensive, based on the negative reviews about the owner, but was pleasantly surprised. I received a relaxing and wonderful pedicure from Nora, who I found to be very personable and pleasant. Only upon leaving, did I realize the person in the reception area was the owner. I found that she too, was personable and nice. Perhaps the negative reviews were based on a bad day or misconception. I came in a critic, and left as a satisfied customer. I think oftentimes, satisfied customers don't think to take the time to write a review.

whoa.

by happy4509

wow. logged on to check out a good place to buy a gift certificate, and these reviews are just plain scary. How is this place still in business? It is also interesting that all the positive reviews are written by people whose screen names all end in "01". Very suspicious.

Pros: nice name

Cons: too scared by reviews to even call

Very Professional

by calzone02

I came here for the 1st time because my husband gave me a certificate for Mother's Day. I was a little hesitant because I've never been to a spa before. But all I can say is WOW! I'm so happy my husband gave me this present. From the moment I walked in everyone treated me great. I had a massage and a facial and really enjoyed them. I would definately come back and I would say you should give them a try too. I found out they also offer email discounts which I signed up for. Great savings!

Uncomfortable Atmosphere

by abcustomer

When I was at Blue Sky, I walked in as a first-time customer and was ignored by the owner. She then made a phone call and argued loudly and aggressively over the phone for more than 20 minutes . She then looked at me and said, "Yes, what are you here for?"
I went in feeling good and left feeling lousy.

Comfortable and Welcoming Place

by sally01w

I've been a client here for the past 6 months and I just love it. My hat is off to the owner. Cindy has always greated me with a smile and makes me feel comfortable. Her staff is so professional and everyone seems to get along great. No negative vibes. I've read some of the reviews on this site and I can only tell you DON'T BELIEVE THESE NEGATIVE PEOPLE. Blue Sky Day Spa is great and I wish I was rich so I could afford to go there everyday and have services.

Pros: Service, Prices, Staff, Atmosphere

Cons: Parking

Exceptional Pedicure: Best in Town!

by hamandcheese

I have been a regular customer of Blue Sky Day Spa for several years and this is why - Cindy hires only the best therapists, period. Nora gives the finest pedicure I've ever had; they last for weeks-and-weeks. She doesn't just give you a quick soak and polish job as many places do for a lot more money; she is very thorough & maticulous. Her manicures are exceptional as well. When it comes to massages, some of the best therapists I've ever experienced have been at Blue Sky. True, the place could use a little TLC but, the staff is what really counts and these folks are tremendous. I know too well what it's like to enjoy the ambiance of a place, but not the service: No thank you

The Best Place I Love it.

by cheri01

I want to tell everyone how great this place is. My friends bought me a gift certificate for my birthday and I just had a facial with Danielle. Wow, it was so good I fell asleep. She even told me about some products that would help me at home. The front desk was very friendly and I felt welcome. I highly recommend.

I read the reviews but i decided not to be judgemental...Because it was recommend on yahoo i thought i'd try it out. WeLL it seems that all the reviews are out numbered..this place is horrible, they need an upgrade of friendlier staff. and better policies..thats a definite!! You would think with all the reviews that the owner is getting she would make some changes. I would never recommend this place to anyone..Word will spread eventually and she will not get much business if she does not do something right away...With a business you should accommodate your customers, that way they will want to return ..not frown and remember an awful experience....

Bad management

by nkang81

I went to Blue Sky for a facial, and although the woman who did my facial was very nice, I was completely turned off by the owner of the spa. She was not warm or friendly at all, and was extremely rude to the lady that was before me. I see that most people who went there received the same kind of attitude from her, so at least I know that she doesn't discriminate: she's an equal-opportunity offender.

Cons: Owner is terrible

Very rude customer service

by dianesmith74

Well, out of 35 reviews almost half are 1-2 stars. I think that there's a reason for this. I've called and spoken with the owner a few times and every single time that I've called she has been short and rude. The first time that this happened I just figured that she was having a bad day. Well, she's now obviously had three bad days that I know of. The unfortunate part is I have a gift certificate that was given to me so this business already has gotten their money. I should've listened to the few friends that told me how terrible this place is but instead I asked for the gift certificate from here because of the "Best Day Spa" awards it has received. I see now that the customer service seems to have slowly gone down hill as it seems that the longer she's been in business, the more negative reviews she's received. I logged onto here to see if my experience was isolated. I see now that it isn't and I won't be using my gift certificate here. It's just not worth the negativity and the owner seems to have a lot of that (just look at her responses to people's complaints on here - very passive agressive and catty. Cindy, why don't you just apologize for your terrible customer service and try to fix it?) A dayspa experience is supposed to be relaxing. Why would I go to a place where half of the people that have reviewed it have had stressful experiences. The sad part is that the owner is obviously in complete denial about it. I have to agree with another reviewer on here. If she keeps it up she's not going to be able to stay in business as long as she'd like. Just the reviews alone should be a wake up call. There are a lot of other dayspas in the area with GREAT feedback on this site. My advice to you is look for one of those. If my experience was as bad as it was on the phone three different times, imagine how bad my dayspa experience would be. Plus you just can't argue with all of the customer reviews on here. A 50% disatisfaction rate is terrible.

Pros: It has a nice name???

Cons: Rude owner/terrible customer service and complaint rectification

Worst experience

by marie1206

I had a horrible experience here. At the time I was about 17 and had recieved a gift certificate for my prom. Upon going in and getting started for my massage, I realized my treatment was going to be done buy a man, who was in his mid thirties. I was unaware that I needed to request a woman. I apologized to him and told him I was uncomfortable with the fact that he was man. He then sent the receptionist into my room. She then scrutinized me and insisted I was wrong for feeling that way. After requesting a woman instead, they told me there was nobody else available and also said I would still be charged if I didn't want to continue with the man. Upset, I shared this with my mother and she then spoke to the owner. The owner told her that I was discriminating due to the fact that he HAPPENED to be African American. I was apalled that they, as women, could not see that as a young woman, and minor for that matter, I was uncomfortable with a man massaging me in general and offered me no other option. It's been a few years and they never apologized and made me feel like I was wrong.

Cons: Employees and Owner express no concern with young women

Great Place

by estella01

I've been comming to this spa for awhile and have never had a bad experience. In fact it has always been great. I have had several massages and facials from different therapists and they all seem great. I notice how some people on this site like to write bad things that seem a bit exagerated and unfair. I would say don't pay attention to their comments and judge for yourself. I will continue to support this business and recommend it to all.

Pros: Fantastic prices and great service

Cons: none

Unbelievably a disheartening experience

by vkurowski

I wrote a review and tried to remove it because I felt my experience is one I really didn't need to share with others - and City Search would not let me remove the review. Now after 9 months I will share my unbelieveable experience as I still can't believe this happened to me.
- It has been over 9 months since I had my "experience" at Blue Day Spa and I have to tell you - it just was not right.
I bought some gift certificates 2 for the price of 1 thinking that was a great deal. I went to use one, had a massage (that was supposed to be deep tissue but was not). When I handed my gift certificate to the owner she told me it had already been used. It was clearly an error on Blue Day Spa's part as I had the gift certificate in my hand. Cindy started yelling at me, told me I was a lier, that I probably had given the certificate to someone else and then am trying to use it again. (How could that happen?) We had a yelling match for about 10 minutes. She told me to get out -I am a horrible person and a lier. I was in awe- shock. I just went in to use my cerificate and am blamed for cheating. We came to an agreement and split the cost. I still have another gift certificate but will not use it because I don't want to relive that horrible experience. HORRIBLE. I feel very badly for Cindy as she obviously is having hard times. But taking it out on clients - who like to spa alot - is not good business. Sorry Cindy - the experience is a hard one to forget.
This experience was truly unbelieveable. And the "good deal" was not so good. It ended up costing me extra in the long run.

Cons: Doesn't honor their mistakes

Cute Little Place

by bonney

I've been coming to this little spa for a long time. The decor is cute and charming. I like this place because it is small and the prices are great. The people that work there are always top notch. This place is in my neighborhood and I would recommend it to you even if you do not live nearby. I'm sure it will be worth your drive.

I read the previous review and it is a shame the person just walked in and out. Didn't even give it a chance. I would recommend the old saying to you that "Great Things Come In Small Packages". You just do not know what you are missing.

Fantastic Find

by duckie01

I love this little spa. I've been a client for the past 4 years and have never had a problem. I read some of the reviews on this site and have a hard time believing some of the things people have written. Anyway, I just want to say I love this place and everyone who works there is great. I had an especially great massage the other day with their therapist Jimmy. He really knows what he is doing. If you are looking for a big fancy place this is not it. But, if you are looking for small, cozy, great service, great prices...well this is your find. This place is definately for real people. I will be back.

DON?T GO TO BLUE SKY!!!

by rogersld

This was the worst spa I've ever been to. The atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming. The window in the room that I was in was open, which was both cold and allowed the street noise to overwhelm the music. The masseuse was sick and kept coughing, just disgusting. And to top it off, the owner/receptionist was very rude. DON?T GO TO BLUE SKY!!!

Cons: Service, ambience, quality

Don't make the same mistake I did!

by benibriak

I've made the mistake of going twice to Blue Sky. The first was for a truly sorry pedicure, done in a cramped, closet-like space right next to the receptionist desk. Not at all relaxing, and fully subject to all the conversations going on by the technicians and receptionists. The second was for a foot treatment - done by a very young man who had obviously no training whatsoever. The treatment was for a foot massage, and what I got was a poor, brief, foot massage, a very awkward neck massage that I wasn't expecting and didn't really want, and a full leg (thigh, included) massage that I finally asked to be discontinued because it was so bungled I was embarrassed. He then told me that I should have told him in advance if I didn't want a full leg massage. I was there for a foot treatment - why would I even think that it would include anything other than that? When I came out, he was whispering about it with the receptionist. I told myself the first time that I wouldn't go back, and then I did. My mistake - won't happen again.

Pros: none

Cons: too many to list

Hey Everyone! I've finally found a place that is diverse in this city. This spa is great. The staff is great at what they do. I had the BEST Massage at this place. It seems like their therapists are superior to places that I've been. The atmosphere is cozy and cute. And, their email coupons are the best ever. Anyway, you can probably tell that I'm extremely happy I found this place. I would give it TWO THUMBS UP!!!!!

Pros: Great Prices, Cute Atmosphere, Central Location

Blue Sky Day Spa

by mjellis2000

I was extremely unsatisfied with Blue Sky Day Spa. It was beyond horrible. The service was exceptionally bad. The owner should take a few tips from other Spas in enhancing their ambience and servicing their clients. They obviously paid somebody to get a ?best of? rating unless I went to the wrong place. HA!

How did this place receive a "Best of? review? I was given a gift certificate to this ?spa? by a friend. The ambience is horrid, and the service is marginal at best. There are way better spas in the area or close by. I though I was the only one with a bad experience there until I came to this site and read the reviews. My jaw dropped to the floor when read how the owner treated that poor pregnant woman. Come on City Search?.pay attention to who you hand these ?Best? rating out to!!

Pros: like the neighboring area

BLUE SKY needs a little TLC

by drm1978

As a former manager of a very successful day spa in Folsom, I was very surprised at what I walked into at Blue Sky; it was not what I expected AT ALL! The spa staff was very sweet and helpful and always made sure that I was comfortable, the owner however was less than personable and the most disturbing thing about her was when I was getting a pedicure, all I could hear was her crunching her potato chips. (the pedicure station was located in an area open to the reception area, which was sort of annoying) In addition to that, the walls were filthy. The lunch was not what I would have wanted and I think that they should offer some choices to their clients as far as the lunch goes. I have been getting massages for years and have always felt great after, but this time I could not move my neck for three days. I was less than impressed with the atomsphere of the spa; it actually was more like a "make-shift spa" (like it was once a doctors office) rather than a relaxing, luxurious environment. As of right now, I would not recommend this place to a friend nor would I go back or give it as a gift. But, I think that with a few adjustments to things like the pedicure station, maybe replace the carpet with a nice tile throughout, move the reception area to where the eating area currently is, keep the spa all on one side and the reception/retail area on a separate side . I would recommend having a designer who specializes in day spas come in, or even tour some day spas on line for inspiration and this place could get out of the below average state that it is currently in. When you have a good staff overall, and a true desire to please your clients then the rest is easy. I look forward to going back sometime and enjoying a whole new experience at Blue Sky. Good Luck!

Pros: The spa staff was very professional

Cons: parking, atmosphere, lunch, the owner seemed stressed (maybe she needed a massage)

Satisfied & Relaxed

by good2go

I have been a steady customer of Blue Sky Day Spa since its inception. I have had the opportunity to be serviced by several different quality massage therapists. I prefer a deeper touch, hence I request male therapists. My experience with massage treatment has always been very relaxing and professional , to the point of zoning-out into a light sleep.
The establishment is well-appointed and charming, with friendly and courteous staff. In are world of franchises and glitz, Blue Sky has its own special appeal. Another added bonus of Blue Sky Day Spa is that the owner/manager offers discounts on services on a continuous basis.
I would suggest Blue Sky Day Spa to anyone for a relaxing comfortable experience.

i just came on here to search for a day spa and noticed the reviews. it amazes me that this place was rated number one for anything. who is writing these reviews???? i am a past client of this spa and would not return. i got a gift certificate for my birthday last year and was very disappointed with the services. i was expecting a nice classy place but when i walked in it was not. whomever is at the front desk was rude and the technicians weren't very friendly. in the future, before you go off these reviews and book an appointment, visit the spa first and get a tour. my cousin who bought me the gift certificate trusted these reviews. The owners could have posted them. Take my word for it, this place is NOT a spa experience you would be happy with.

A blissful experience

I discovered Blue Sky Day Spa through a friend, who has been raving about this place for years. It was my first visit to the spa, and I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly, attentive and the surroundings were lovely. My treatments, from my pedicure to my hot stone massage, were exquisite...I don't remember the last time I felt so pampered and relaxed. My only regret is that I didn't try the spa a long time ago!

I am from Monterey and was visiting a friend and we decided to get a massage. Boy did we pick the wrong place. The manager was a rude B----! Do not ever go there if you live in the Sacramneto area. the facility is a dump and the prices are high for such a place. The masseuse was not very good. Over all, the service was terrible. When I TRIED to bring it to the managers attention she blew up at me. If you're reading this please learn how to serve people and take some zanax!!! Your business will go downhill if you continue this way.

Great Massage & Assistance

by maddog40

I have been going for massages at Blue Sky Day Spa for the past couple of years and have only had great experiences there with the friendly staff and management and very good massage therapists. This is a great place to relax after a hard workout at the gym or anytime you just want to relax. I highly recommend this locale for great massages and to be treated well as a customer. I also purchased my girlfriend a massage there for her birthday and she loved it and also the way she was treated by all. Once again, if you are looking to get a very good massage for yourself or for a gift to someone, I would highly recommend Blue Sky Day Spa.

Pros: Ambience, staff, service, quality of massages.

Cons: Having to leave

WORST SPA I'VE EVER BEEN TO

by maralexa

I WENT WITH A FRIEND FOR MY BIRTHDAY AND I WAS VERY DISAPPONTED. WE WERE 15 MNUTES LATE BECAUSE WE CAME ALL THE WAY FROM STOCKTON AND WE GOT LOST. BY THE TIME I GOT ON THE MASSAGE BED IT WAS 30 MINUTES PAST MY APPOINTMENT TIME. I WAS CHARGED A FULL HOUR FOR SERVICES ANYWAY. I WASN'T TOLD THIS UNTIL IT WAS TIME TO PAY. I DID NOT MAKE AN ISSUE OF IT BECAUSE IT WAS MY B-DAY AND I WANTED TO HAVE A GOOD DAY.MY FACIAL WAS GREAT BUT I FELT AS IF PRODUCTS WERE BEING PUSHED ON ME. I HAD NO IDEA THAT MY FRIEND WAS KICKED OUT OF THE SPA BY THE MANAGER BECAUSE SHE REFUSED TO GET THE MASSAGE. SHE DIDN'T WANT TO PAY THE FULL HOUR IF SHE WAS ONLY GETTING 30 MINUTES. THE MANAGER WOULDN'T EVEN LET HER GET THE 30 MINUTES. MY FRIEND WAITED FOR ME OUTSIDE FOR 1.5 HOURS. SHE SAID NOT A SINGLE PERSON WENT IN THE DOOR WHILE SHE WAS WAITING OUTSIDE. THE MANAGER COULD HAVE OFFERED HER 30 MINUTES. ISN'T THE CUSTOMER ALWAYS RIGHT?? THEY SAY WITH EVERY CUSTOMER THAT HAS A BAD EXPERIENCE ANYWHERE, THEY TELL ATLEAST 10 PEOPLE. I GUESS THE OWNER ISN'T INTO KEEPING CUSTOMERS COMING BACK. SHE WAS RUDE EVEN WHEN I CALLED TO MAKE THE APPOINTMENT. I INITIALLY ASKED HER WHAT A SWEDISH MASSAGE WAS AND SHE MADE ME FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT FOR NOT KNOWING. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RED FLAG.AS FAR AS THE ESTHETICIAN, SHE WAS AWESOME. HER FACIAL WAS GREAT.. SHE DOESN'T BELONG THERE! I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND I WILL TELL EVERY PERSON I KNOW ABOUT THE BAD EXPERIENCE I HAD THERE. I WORK IN THE DENTAL FIELD AND KNOW ALOT ABOUT SERVING PEOPLE. THIS WAS NOT TOP NOTCH SERVICE, IT WAS BELOW AVERAGE. THE PLACE LOOKED LIKE WHAT IT WAS...A DOCTORS OFFICE WITH SPA DECOR. ..OBVIOUSLY THE MANAGEMENT DOESN'T CARE. I WILL ALWAYS HAVE A BAD MEMORY OF MY 40TH B-DAY AT THAT CRAPPY PLACE.
3/12/07: in response to the managers response:
. IT'S REALLY SAD WHEN PEOPLE HAVE TO LIE TO MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK GOOD. I WISH YOU THE BEST AND I WILL PRAY FOR YOU.

Pros: ESTHETICIAN IS GREAT

Cons: MANAGER/OWNER IS HORRIBLE & RUDE

Relaxing and Fun

by abbilene

I have been a repeat customer of Blue Sky Day for over a year. My first experience with them was when I receive a gift certificate to use before my wedding. I got their package "Two Hours of Bliss". It was so relaxing and great. Since that first appointment I go just about every month for various spa services. In addition to going myself, I send all the members of my staff there frequently as an employee benefit. I have heard nothing but praise for the Spa from my staff. I have noticed that productivity and moral have increased greatly since initiating this employee incentive. I would highly recommend this spa as well as to encourage other employers to send their staff there to relax. Enjoy!!

Pros: personnable

blue sky is a breath of fresh air =)

by anaka07

i have been a client of blue sky's for almost 10 years since i found out they were the only spa in sacramento that used the dr. hauschka line of skin care products. the fact that they even knew of this brand told me they cared about quality...and they do! since then, i have enjoyed the services -- massages, facials, manicures, and pedicures -- of many of the professional and personable staff. the owner, cindy, has always sought out opportunities to diversify her spa's services and to appreciate her popular employees. and, in ten years of knowing her, i have never known her to be anything but accommodating and sweet to me. there are so many spas in sacramento, but at blue sky, they care about their customers... they make me feel like they care that i have an enjoyable experience. and, i do! =) and, what makes blue sky even better for me is how reasonably the services are priced, especially the discounted happy hour! i have referred many friends and family to blue sky, and i refer you, too. blue sky is a breath of fresh air! =)

Pros: quality servies, affordable prices, package dicsounts

Cons: space is a bit small, but cozy and comfy

Wonderfully relaxing spa ! Ahhhh!

by xpctsxs

I just wanted to say that i have been inside Blue Sky Day Spa a number of times and on each and every visit I have felt like a welcomed guest. Not only is the staff really gracious and talented but the owner, Cindy, is ever-present and involved.
They have a killer line of branded products - love the Invigorating Mint Sugar Scrub - and Cindy recommended a product that has greatly improved my sleep!
You MUST go yourself or give someone you care about a gift certificate - you and/or they will be very glad you did.

Best Place For A Massage

by financialman

I am a business owner and am very active playing tennis, golf and working out at the gym seven days a week, so the stress and sore muscles add up. I've been getting massages for over 25 years and can honestly say Blue Sky Day Spa is the place to go! The staff is very friendly and organized. I never have to wait when I arrive for my appointment.

Best massage

by sacborn

Blue Sky is the best hands down. Cindy is personable and is reasonable. Her massages are fantastic. The place is clean and you instantly are greeted upon arrival by staff. If you are looking for an intimate place to have your worries drift away then this is the place.

Pros: Great massage. Best investment in your mental health.

Cons: none come to mind...

Queen for a day

by suzon19

What else could you ask for? A champagne lunch with a massage and facial and then to have my feet sculpted. The staff was great and I really enjoyed the experience.

Pros: Staff was great

Cons: Parking was tough

Disappointing!

by mamass50

First, I was chased off by a lady for parking in the wrong spot. I was told the spa parking was on the street-- IF you can find parking. Second, if you're looking for a good brazilian wax-- don't go to this spa. Without going into details, it was very disappointing, especially for the money paid. The lady working on me confided she usually does facials-- a lot different from what she was attempting to do. I'll find a different place to spend my money next time!

Pros: Timely appointment

Cons: Poor parking, Unskilled staff
