Haven't been to too many vintage/thrift stores, but I can say that this has been the best I've been to so far. The selection and the store itself is really small, but I found quite a few pieces that I picked up, or wanted to buy. You can tell the owner, who is really nice btw, takes the time to chose only clothes/accessories that people she is marketing to would actually wear. With that said, prices were surprisingly affordable. I'd be there every weekend if I didn't live so far away.

great finds

I only went here once when I was in Los Angeles, but I just remember being overwhelmed with a ton of cute clothes and accessories. Some of it was kind of pricey, but they had lots of one-of-a-kind items. They have vintage dresses with beautiful fabrics and a ton of intricate earrings that my friend buys.

Owl Talk is truly an original. It's very tiny much like all the shops in a cluster on Colorado Blvd (in Eagle Rock). They get "new" shipments in all the time so there is always a surprise lurking when you're shuffling through racks. They also have some really interesting jewelry, some of it antique. Once I hesitated in buying these antique fold out opera glasses for my Mom and the next day they were gone. So, if you see something, POUNCE! Everything is fairly reasonable and it's just an all around fun place to check out.

I love Owl Talk! In my experience, this small, unassuming second-hand shop has yielded several good finds...a turquoise 50s-style dress, a long sleeved knit from Banana Republic, boys' shorts that fit great... The selection is not very flashy, but if you comb through you'll probably find something good. The owners are kind and give Oxy students a 10 or 15 percent discount if you ask.
