Pros: Sincere personal attention, love the tea at the end !

I've tried a lot of things before, but the thing I like about this place is they don't seem to be stuck on the technical side of things. Most places I've been to, the postures or technicalities seem to be the main focus. Here although they have a system and techniques, it seems like you can adjust it to your condition without worrying about "am I doing it wrong" or what not. They emphasize that the most important thing is feeling your body, not trying to stick yourself into some posture. I was impressed with how much personal attention you get as well. I heard people say it's very expensive, but it's similar to other yoga places I've been to. It's may not be the traditional Indian yoga you're expecting, but I personally like it much better.

Pros: atmosphere, staff, program

Cons: they need to open a center in Florida where my friend lives

After a lifetime of bad habits, in 2001 I got severely ill. After not being able to work because of a series of viral infection problems, I looked for a yoga/fitness program that I could really commit to and that would be flexible in meeting my schedule. I found all that and more at the Dahn Center. I've been a member for over 5 years. 3 at the Torrance center and now 2 years in Glendale. The masters and other members are some of the most supportive and loving people I've known. I've now been basically health problem free since I joined. It's not a traditional yoga, but more like pilates, kundalini and mediation combined together. Make sure to check out Friday's vibration classes.

I moved to a different part of LA so started looking into yoga studios in my new area. After reading the only citysearch review on Dahn Yoga, "Nice but Costly" I checked out Dahn's website & calculated that the cost per class would be comparable to the other places I was considering.
I called them about taking a class for the first time, thinking they would offer to let me do so for either a single-class fee or even for free (many studios offer this.) I was told I could either try a class or come in for an "energy evaluation" but that the evaluation was recommended b/c they could assess my individual strength & flexibility.
Neither the website nor the person I talked to mentioned any fee so assumed it was complimentary (my mistake.) When I arrived I was charged $29 to spend a half hour doing breathing exercises & a few yoga poses. I was then told my chakras were out of balance & that I had some "blockages." He then presented the membership rates which started at $130/month + a $40 non-refundable activation fee.
He did tell me that as part of my $29 I could try out a first class. I got a weird feeling from it though so I came home & googled Dahn to find reviews other than what I found on this website. I will not be going back. You can form your own opinion by reading what's on the web but I urge you to do so before going in there!

Staff is very nice, peaceful atmosphere, emphasis on brain respiration, it's a blend of yoga and other disciplines, like Tai-Chi. Improve of eating habits and adds lots of flexibility. Improves your attitude 100%. The only drawback may be the cost. Need to make it more affordable to the public
