Excellent Appetizers, food & especially the dessert. My husband & I went for our anniversary and the food was beyond delicious. Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and the service was excellent. We will most definitely be going back.

After reading several online reviews, I found it hard to believe that some of these reviewers know what good French food tastes like. I wanted to like this restaurant and I did like the setting and the people there. However, I cannot say that I would eat there again because the food was at best satisfactory and certainly not worth the cost. I ordered the duck in orange sauce, a mainstay in French restaurants. There was no crsipiness to the skin and although served with a few orange slices and zest, the actual sauce lacked flavor and was globby, not a reduction as it should have been. The duck was overcooked and tasted like it was reheated. I was disappointed. Again, I cannot believe all the glowing food comments I have seen. Perhaps I happened upon a bad night. I had heard that food and service were uneven at tis establishment. With all the excellent eateries around I am not sure I would venture to Le Chene again. My suggestion it to get rid of those chalkboard menues, cut down the items by half and hire a new chef who knows classic French cooking, especially the art of making a sauce. By the way, even the desserts were average.

I was married in the garden at Le Chene and we had our reception in the banquet room. Its a beautiful place to get married as the gardens are green, and the water wheel is a wonderful location for pictures as is the rest of the garden. It is hard to judge the banquet room when it is not set up for an event as it will appear dark and dank, but when they prepare this room for a reception, with formal coverings on the tables and chairs and your flowers and centerpieces it is a bright and lovely place to be married. The food can not be beat for the price and even an open bar is an option as its not too expensive. They will work with you on every detail for your special day, and Tom can even make the groom a strong drink should it be needed before the ceremony!

I fell in love with their patio area and the inside of their restaurant, but was very disappointed with their wedding ballroom - very old and in need of cleaning!

If you're wiling to brave the long drive, this is the absolute best place to go for a fine meal. The food is delicious, I have been here several times and it has never failed to meet all of my tastebud's expectations. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and you can often see the owner dining there or walking around greeting his customers. If it's in your budget or you're celebrating a special night out you must go here. And try the chocolate moose!

Pros: Food, parking, service, ambience

Cons: Location is a bit far

when i made the reservation, the receptionist was very unfriendly and robotic. when i inquired if anything special is done to celebrate special occasions she said " they just send a chocolate mousse cake to the table"...nice?...sounds more like an incovenience than acknowledging a celebration. our server had no personality and approached our table to take our dinner orders only. i had to inform her we wanted cocktails before dinner and then a bottle of wine with our meal. this is more forgiveable if the restaurant was busy but with twenty tables and five servers!?...the food is ok but a bit salty. the food prices are GREAT compared to la prices...straight forward french bistro. the wine list is worth the visit; great deals can be found with some basic wine knowledge. le

Pros: extensive wine list with great value outside la, beautiful ambiance, great value

Cons: average servers, windows need cleaning

It turned out that they allowed so many reservations that they had to open up their ballroom dance floor to seat everyone; this is where we were originally seated. The table we were on was one of those roll-out banquet style tables with hard metal chairs that gets stacked. It was almost laughable to think that this was supposed to be a romantic dinner setting.

The food was made in mass quantity with the cheapness you would find at a low budget wedding reception. The so called filet minion was nothing more than pot roast slices and gravy. After the snooty host reluctantly switching us to an "indoor" table, we finally finished our meal in what will go down in history as the worst Valentine's day dinner in my entire life... oh, did I forget to mention that my bill was over $200, not including wine? STAY AWAY!

This is my absolute favorite restaurant of all time. The food is melt in your mouth delicious, especially the filet mignon w/bordelaise butter and the filet tips with bernaise. They have a wide variety of foods such as duck, quail, escargot and hard to find delicacies. The house salad is amazing, and the hot crusty fresh fench bread is delicious. Creme Brulee and Chocolate Mousse are by far the best in this valley. The atmosphere is romantic with the stone walls and the beautiful garden area outside with a stream running through it. Worth the drive the Agua Dulce. Nice bar with an extensive collection of wines.

PROS: If you're looking for delicious authentic french food, this is the place.
CONS: Expensive, but worth it for a special occasion.

The outside of Le Chene has the look of a small castle, made of river rock. Once you open the door the rock motif continues through the entrance then opens to a large bar overlooking the garden and an open patio shaded by oak trees. Incredible food - extensive wine list. It's expensive, so save it for that "special occasion."

This is, without question, my favorite restuarant in the entier Greater Los Angeles Area. You MUST try this place, even though it is out of the way. The atmosphere is so peaceful. The food is exquisite, easily competing with New York and LA's finest. And the service is impeccable. Try the Bison Ribeye... excellent. I love this place!

Le Chene is hidden away on Sierra Highway several miles north of Soledad Canyon. It's a romantic gem with a wonderful selection of interesting foods and great atmosphere.

Avoid big holidays; food and service aren't as great as other times. The menu and setting are reminiscent of European restaurants; leave the kids at home and enjoy the romantic surroundings.
