Applegate Garage

Our car broke down outside of Colfax and was towed to this garage. They were kind from the very start, even the woman who answers the phone. The previous mechanic in Sacramento had done major work on the engine incorrectly causing our engine to seize. Applegate garage kept the car until the mechanic came back from vacation and never charged us for looking at it or keeping it there. We ended up having to take it to the dealer and the engine will be rebuilt (over $8,000). If we lived closer to Applegate I would have had the work done there because they were honest and said to take it back to the previous mechanic as he was probably at fault.

This is the best garage in and around town. Best service and their hours are flexible. With Summer coming I have had a cooling issue and Zach has stayed late multiple times to try and help me. FOR FREE. No other shop has ever offered their service after 6 pm.

Thank you Applegate Garage and Zach....you guys have been life savers...

We have been taking our automobiles and minivans to this auto mechanic for the past 16 years.

Mike Schlender (owner) is very honest, to a fault.......because he won't order any unnecessary repairs and never before its time. I cannot count the times the dealership said to make a repair, but the Applegate Garage mechanic gave us a Second Opinion and vetoed the unneeded repair. The dealerships like to suck you in with the $19.00 oil change, then they stick it to you with extras and upsells.

At Applegate Garage, a routine oil change can cost up to $50.00....but they are much more thorough than the dealership (even though you don't get the free car wash).
Nevertheless, my cars keep running seemingly forever when we send them to mike.
