Never again. Very high-end prices for zero quality service. My boyfriend and I came here to get our haircut and left with a massive line in his military cut because the barber who thinks he's worth $40/hour can't do a simple fade. Honestly we probably just shouldn't have even paid him. Lisa the manager invited us back for free cuts and then canceled on us 20 minutes before our appointment - I guess we just wernt a priority. Do yourself a huge favor and just try cutting your own hair before you come here. This place sucks.

My friends recommended the salon so I thought I would give it a try. One of my buddies says after tip, he never drops more than $50 bucks for a haircut. I figure, I'm gonna get a shave, so I'm willing to spend a little more. Not $50 more! They quoted me $44 and then charged me $96. UNBELIEVABLE! I have been to many fine establishments for men's grooming, and I have never been charged $52 for a shave, even when I have had places shave my entire head with a straight razor. It didn't help that it took over an hour to do my hair because the stylist kept talking and talking about his view on life. I am never opposed to good conversation, but it was completely one sided and he stopped cutting for at least 10 minutes so he could re-express the same point he'd been talking about over and over. Miserable experience, if I'd a known I was gonna drop $100 before tip, I would have spent the money on some new razors and done it myself.

I've been a customer at 18/8 in Pasadena for almost 2 years and I would definitely recommend it to others. The complimentary beverages, massages, and upscale men's salon-atmosphere are nice extras. By now I suppose I'm used to this kind of special treatment, but I can remember before I found 18/8 it was a struggle just to find a place that could deliver a decent haircut. What is really important to me is great customer service, and most of all a quality haircut -- and 18/8 delivers on both.

Although 18/8 is going to be more expensive than any generic salon ($35 range) I think it's worth it. You might be surprised how often women can tell the difference between a Supercuts/DIY haircut and a professional one. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment if you're in the area. Also, you should request Patricia when you book an appointment. She is a senior staff member, very skilled and knowledgeable in men's grooming/care and she will not disappoint!

Well...the place had a nice look to it and a great concept, however my experience there didnt really impress me too much. My cut seemed rushed (30min or less) and the stylist didnt really listen very well. The haircut wasn't bad, just was not what I was hoping and trying to have done. O well, lesson learned.

ps. It wasnt the cheapo $25 cut either, it was a cool $42 + tip.

pps. The girl at the front desk offered me a drink, but where are you guys getting free massages? No one offered and I definately didnt want one from my stylist...maybe the receptionist though...

I have been going to 18|8 for about a year now, and of all the places I have ever gone to get my hair cut, 18|8 is by far the best. In my opinion, it is really the ONLY place in a Pasadena where a man can get a great haircut.

What stands out first and foremost, is the quality of service provided to the customer. They call you the day before to verify your appointment - a nice professional touch. Once you arrive, the staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. They provide comfy leather chairs and offer wine or water to pass the time as you wait - which tends to be no more than few minutes.

The second thing that stands out is the skill and professionalism of the stylists. They work with you to find the cut and style that will work best for you. They are very friendly people, which is important to me - I want to be with a stylist who actually CARES whether I look good or not. Supercuts, for instance, made me feel like I was at a triage unit in a war hospital - "Get him in stat - sit, cut, dry, get him outta here. NEXT!" The stylists at 18|8 by comparison, will not only give me the best damn haircut I've ever had, but will offer neck and shoulder messages too. Very cool.

One stylist in particular deserves special attention. Her name is Patricia and she is, without doubt, the best hairstylist I've ever had. She is the Master Stylist, and it definitely shows. I've always had problem hair, mostly due to always getting my hair cut by different people who didn't really care. Thanks Supercuts! (sarcasm). But in the year or so that I've trusted Patricia to take care of me, my hair is exactly where I want it to be. Thanks Patricia! (high praise). One more thing, she is the sweetest, friendliest person you will meet. She WILL make you feel at ease and she WILL make you laugh. Treat her right, and Patricia will make you look like the best-looking guy in the world.

I didn't realize how much men can be pampered, and 18/8 really does the trick. They have complimentary beverages, even beer and wine. The stylists really know what they're doing. I got exactly what I wanted. They have really good products, and give great massages. This salon is perfect for every man. Ask for Patricia, Laura, or Michelle.

18 8 at the Paseo Colorado complex,in Pasadena provides men's haircare in an upscale setting catering to men. I've have been a road warrior for years and never had the pleasure of having a steady place to get a hair cut. This is the first place I've been a repeat customer where I felt I was treated with a personal touch and they cared about me looking my best.

People say that you pay more here than other places, but with the packages available and the special treatments you'll get more as than any other place for a better price.

Patrica styles my hair and is an individual that really knows how to get it just right, she help you look your best, tips on thing you can do to improve your looks, and maybe a hot towel to refresh your face or a neck message to reduce the stress. This is the best place in town, hands dowm.

PROS: Talented Staff, Friendly, interested in you and having you look great.
CONS: NONE

I thought I'd try it out since it's "Men Only". I paid more than I normally would and wouldn't have mind it if I came out with a great hair cut. But it seemed as though the person that cut my hair just come out of school and wasn't too familiar with what she was doing. I paid about $40 and came out a bit disappointed to say the least.

I finally found a place where I can get a very good hair cut and still feel like a man and not a fluffy chick in a salon or hit and miss at a super cuts.

I think 18/8 in Pasadena rocks. Ara cuts my hair there and he is very good. Actually, the best hair cut I have ever had. I can't say enough good about it. It's no super cuts price but it's not that bad either... I've paid more at other places. Yea - they try and upsell their products - but so does everyone - just say no thanks.

I have clients and my hair cut is important. I get my hair cut every 6 weeks there. Now I know what to expect and its the same great hair cut everytime with Ara. Also, I feel cool there because it's for guys only. No chicks in hair rollers running around.

PROS: Great cut, great service, great location
CONS: upselling the products

I have been a loyal client of 18/8 Pasadena for over a year now and I love it. You have to experience it for yourself in order to appreciate it, but I'll try to explain it as best I can.

This a one stop shop. You sit down, get shampooed, cut, rinsed, "and a hot face towel while you condition" then a shoulder massage and your blow dry/finishing. How great is that?? Who does that today??

And the best part is that they are reasonably priced!! Much more so than Carlton, or Regis, or the other chain salons.

Worth every penny, ask for Helena (my stylist) and she'll take care of you!!

18/8 offers a great selection of men's hair care and personal products as well as exceptional services for your grooming needs. And be honest, you probably need it. They don't just "cut" your hair, they "shape" it. That's what my stylist tells me anyway. All I know is, I look a heck of a lot better than when I walked out of supercuts. Clippers bad, scissors good. Dudes, treat yourelf. Go here. You won't be disappointed. And don't worry, no one will laugh at you when you're getting your eyebrows trimmed. Your friends will thank you.

Eighteen Eight in Pasadena provides men's haircare in an upscale setting without that uncomfortable "I'm a guy in a salon" feeling. I've been extremely picky about my hair for years, and this is the first place I've been a repeat customer at since the barber shop back in my small hometown in Texas.
You'll definitely pay more here than at "Supercuts", but you'll get more as well, like a stylist who wants to really know how to get it just right, and maybe a hot towel to refresh your face. They offer a full line of men's hair care products as well.
Conveniently located in the Paseo Colorado complex.

I went when they first opened and had a terrible cut. I was a bit scared to see what it looked like when the lady was done. They have an interesting concept, but it does not live up to its advertising - the web page is a bit misleading. The second time I went I met a guy who has since left, who I continue to go to. If you do try this place, just be careful.

For $26 you get a great cut with lots of personal attention and time, and a shampoo. The $35 cut adds 5 minutes of head & neck massage. Feels more like a spa than a barber. They serve men only.

Salon that specializes in men's haircuts. They do a nice job to make you feel that it's ok to be a man in a salon environment by having Maxim and Sports Illustrated instead of Vogue in the waiting area (not that I'm insecure in my manhood). In the $25-$35 price range. Convenient parking, friendly staff, decent haircut. On the ground floor of Paseo mall.

I did have a negative experience where on one visit I decided to have someone else cut my hair, which created a bit of a squabble between stylists. I guess I broke the unwritten rule of sticking with one stylist in a salon, but the new stylist was definitely an upgrade to the first one.

PROS: Atmosphere, Price
CONS: My hair causing a controversy

The overated chain salon is nothing but a bunch of burnt out wanna be hair stylist working minimum wage giving horrible hair cuts and pushing for you to buy products for which they have no knowlegde of its content or ingredients. I'de rather have my 80 year old Granpa cut my hair with both his shaking hands then to step foot in that modernized wannabe Supercuts. 2 thumbs down!!
