Amazing place. We were sent here by our vet to see Dr. Patlogar because she said he was the best. Our dog was really sick and thanks to Dr. Patlogar she is home with us and doing much better.

Not exactly where we planned on spending the christmas holiday but what a fantastic place. The Doctor was extremely nice and he took time to explain everything to us and make sure we understood what was going on even though they seemed really busy. The staff was really nice and seemed to care about our dog.

It is never a good thing when you have to go to an emergency pet hospital but this place was amazing. The staff was very caring and Dr. Patlogar went above and beyond with our dog. We love our regular doctor but it is nice to know that there is someone like him around for us when our doctor is closed. As with any emergency clinic prices were a bit higher but worth it. Thank you!

well i don't really know what to say about this place i guess its not a very good pet clinic to go to because they just leave you waiting while your pet is dieing rite there!!!Instead of doing there job they're eating making your ass wait.....I took my dog last night like at 10:20pm i think..and my dog wasn't really feeling himself and i was crying because it looked like he was going to die so they checked him and they saw that he had parvo when i found out i was crying so much my heart felt like if it just fell apart!!!
OK so my dog was dieing and they asked my brother if he was willing to pay $2,000 or more so they could try to save my dogs life and my brother said "yes" but they were going to make us wait til' the morning so my dog could get hospitalize i didn't want to wait that long by the time they take my dog to another hospital he was probably gonna be dead by then.....And if we were going to wait there til' the morning they were going to charge my brother more!!!!
So it wasn't really for sure that they could save my dogs life so my brother told the Dr. to put him to sleep!!!I asked if i could be there when they put him to sleep and they said "yes" but i told them if i could spend 20 minutes w/ my dog and only 10 minutes passed and they were already going to put him to sleep!!I was hugging my dog and they just injected him my dog looked at me w/ a sad face and his head just bent over i was so sad and crying!!!My dog was a pit bull he was like 8months old, black and white so i named him OREO!!!
OK so back to the subject so when my dog just bent his head over the f*ckin Dr. just slammed my dog's head in the table and then the fat ass Dr. went back to go eat!!!So i just kept on crying and i didn't know how my life was going to be without my dog and now i know its horrible!!!
BUT YEA I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PET CLINIC AT ALL!!!

OMG I MISS MY PUPPY SO MUCH!!

If you go and are fortunate enough to get Dr. Patlogar then you will be as pleased as we were. The staff was very caring and he was always willing to go over things with us talk to us on the phone, even at 4 in the morning. We knew this might be the end but we could not have picked a better place. Thank you soo much!

I rushed my dog to this clinic when she became sick in the evening on a weekend. This clinic was recommended by my regular Vet for emergency care. I found the staff caring and helpful. The bad reviews here seem to be connected to one vet in particular, but the doctor I saw with my dog couldn't have been kinder, more helpful or concerned about both my dog and me! They gave me treatment options and the cost was much more reasonable than I expected. The support staff was kind and gentle with my dog and spoke to her as if she were one of their own. \r\nWhen I was there, another woman came in with an injured cat who was not doing well at all. The doctor rushed out to the waiting room to take the cat for immediate care and to stablize her. I was pleased that they seemed very motivated to take care of the worst patient immediately. \r\nThe next morning when I called my regular vet for a follow-up appointment, this Emergency Clinic had already faxed them a full report of their findings and treatment. \r\nI would not hesitate to take any of my pets here for Emergency care.

It must depend on who you see. My dog had an infection from not being fixed. We saw a younger vet who knew what it was right away. The staff was nice and they even gave her a bath when she made a mess of herself. He fixed her and she came home 2 days later. She is doing great. Great experience.

I just recently took my puppy there that ate pig ear. The doctor told me he took it out from my puppy's esophagus. That was totally a lie. He just wanted to me to leave. I later toook my dog to my vet and they told me it was life threatening to leave that there.

I paid a total of $300 at the ER pet clinic and in exchange I get unmoral doctors who would lie and put a life on the line. If you care about your pet, go to All-Care pet emergency. They took the pig ear out with microscopic camera and it was painless with very professional doctors that do care!

Had to wait to see vet but well worth it. Could not afford estimate but Dr Paloger worked with us anyway. Did not charge us for consultation or an injection for pain and told us we could get medications from drug store. Our dog is much better thanks to him!!!!

I HAVE TO GIVE A STAR! DOESNT DESERVE ONE. THEY SAID MY GERMAN SHEPARD NEEDED EMERGENCY SURGERY AND THEY WANTED $3OOO.OO UP FRONT NOW (THEY SAID HE HAD DEADLY EMERGENT CONDITION) AND THE COST COULD ESCALATE, AND I HAD TO TAKE MY DOG TO HIS VET IN THE MORNING. THEY WANTED MONEY FOR SURGERY BUT NEVER OFFER TO DO A SIMPLE X-RAY WICH WOULD HAVE SHOWN THE PROBLEM MY DOG WAS HAVING. I WAITED IN THE MORNING AND TOOK MY DOG TO OUR VET AND COME TO FIGURE IT WAS A BONE THAT WAS STUCK IN HER TUMMY NO SURGERY WAS RECOMMENDED.
MY DOG IS DOING GREAT
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE NOT EVEN TO MY WORST ENEMY.
for the customer who is sueing them I hope you get them shut down, feel free to contact me for my complete story.

My dog was run over by a car on a Sunday evening. We frantically rushed her to the nearest emergency vet clinic, which, unfortunately for us, was the Emergency Pet Clinic of San Gabriel Valley. We waited for 45 minutes before a technician came in to take her temperature. Twenty minutes after that, the vet, EDDIE CHAVEZ, came in. He looked at her for less than 5 minutes and said she was fine. We were a little shocked since she had just gotten run over by a car and asked a few more questions after this. We must have been severely inconveniencing him, because we had asked TWO more questions to make sure our dog was going to be OK and he said ""Well, I don't know what you want me to say, we CAN keep her overnight and charge you for it, if you want."" He went on to add, that we seemed to know all the answers, when we merely asked if the gashes on her posterior that the technician had failed to mention to him were anything to be worried about.\r\nEDDIE CHAVEZ is the absolute worst veterinarian. He is rude, unsympathetic, and will treat you like you are inconveniencing him. This guy should look in the mirror and ask why he became a vet. There are way better veterinarians out there that will treat your pet and you with respect.

February 8, 2008 at 3:30am My husband let our puppy out to use the restroom next thing I knew is I was woken up by his awful cry and my husband in such shock not knowing what the hell happen to our puppy we think something spooked him anyways all I remember seeing is my puppy crying in pain and his right paw sticking straight up and the bottom of is paw facing him '' like a twisted tree branch'' We didn't know what to do. My husband ended up calling 411 and they gave us this number to the El Monte Emergency clinic. He called and explained to them what happen and told them that he is in alot of pain. They told my husband that they would give him a shot to take the pain and that the visit was 64.00, we got there and nothing they had me fill out paper work while I have my puppy in my arms crying I told the nurse weres his shot you told my husband you'd give him, she said I cant give any shots until the vet looks at him 15mins go by the vet finally came out from sleeping and told me to place my dog on the table I told her I'm not putting him down he cant even stand he's in to much pain I told her give him that shot and then I will. She took him out of my arms and put him on the table to just tell me he needed x-rays. Well duh I think I knew that before I went in. Anyways they came up with a cost of 622.00 I told them we dont have that kinda money we didnt get approved for there care credit either. I told the girl at the front desk that we would come back with the money she told us until we get the money we can't help you. We ended up giving 220.00 and told them there now we have to go to our house to get the rest from family, After giving them what we had they never gave him that pain shot all they did was throw him in a cage with his hand sticking straight up and him shacking to death, I heard him crying and said why is he crying they told me that wasnt my dog, I knew they were lying do to the fact there where no other cars or people there. My husband and me left hoping he would be in good hands, We went home to get 400 more bucks and left back to el monte when we got there the vet came out and said your dog will need surgery right away showed the xrays to us and gave us the copy. The vet told us that she put a splint on his hand so he wouldnt move it and to keep in place and bandaged it up. they gave us our dog and I noticed he was breathing funny very fast at times and then so slow you couldnt feel his heart. We took him that day to the vet we have they told us no surgery just casting every 10 days we said ok. Well as of Friday the 22, 2008 he was to get a new cast, well if things couldnt get any more worse they did. The vet took along time with our dog 2hrs almost just for a cast I thought well come to find out my dogs paw was never placed and attached the way the El Monte Pet clinic claimed it was just dangling there for 14 days my dogs paw was like this, meaning gang green, all lost of the paw 73.00 in meds that were useless. I thank god for my vet he replaced his hand back into place and gave us a discount. When we got home I was so mad upset and sick that some one who wanted to help animals in need could be so cruel. I told my husband that what if they never gave him the shot and he felt everything that they did, it still hurts now thinking that, I ended up looking at are bill from them and they charged us for a Robert Jones spint notice splint is spelled wrong I think this place just loves to Robb people blind and torment our animals. I want this place shut down and the staff there to be charged with animal abuse, I am in the works of suing this so called Emergency Animal Clinic. So DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR ANIMALS TO THIS HELL HOLE TRUST ME AND THE OTHERS HERE THEY WITH JUST HURT YOUR PETS AND YOUR POCKETS.

Do not use this clinic. I took my twelve year old cat in tonight who was hit by a car his tail was severed off and he was bleeding badly. The vet techs couldn't help they had no idea how badly he was injured they said he would have to be sedated put on IV's and go in to surgery then they could see if his rectum was pulled out with the tail. Dr Tsugawa refused to get out of bed and come examine him. We heard her tell the tech no, you just handle it. We had three vet techs trying to guess what his treatment would be. They killed time by weighing him and taking his temp stalling because Dr Tsugawa refused to come and see him. But the techs were quick to quote us a deposit of $1,000.00 but the bill could go up to $3,000.00. Believe me the money was no problem the care of Clark was. Finally because we are intelligent people and lacking a licensed vet willing to examine an emergency case in an emergency clinic. We had him put down. This place needs to be shut down allowing a cat hit by a car to suffer while they killed time trying to get the vet to get out of bed and handle an emergency. This is the second problem I have had with this same vet at this clinic. She tried to spay my dog 24 hours after she delived pups by c-section claiming, without examining her, she had a pyometra. Again because I am very knowlegable I picked her up took her to a different clinic and she was ok no pyometra. I was a 30 year client of this clinic and will never go there again and hope other do the same for the animals sake.

I came back home from work to find that my dog has eaten practically 12 trident sugarless gum that my sister mistakenly put unsafely from my dog. I was frantically scared and looked up online to see what I should do and what would happen to my dog. I found out that sugarless gum has Xylitol in it and that causes dogs' blood sugar to drop dangerously low and that can lead to liver failure. Then I called the nearest Emer. Pet Clinic that was open and I told them what happened. They asked me some questions about my pet and served me calmly and attentively and told me that my dog needs to throw up. They even gave me two options: To either make my pet throw up at home ,in the case of no money, or take my pet in and the cost would be 94 dollars. So I took my chances and after calling them back like 3 times during the process, they helped me through without sounding annoyed or anything. I'm very glad I had them at that time of hour and their good service. Thank you so much for just telling me what to do!!

My dog had was very sick, and thankfully I had this place to go to in the middle of the night. The staff seemed knowledgable, and caring. I felt my pet was taken care of and well looked after. I am grateful there are places to go for your pet when your regular vet is not available.

Emergency Animal Clinic (??EAC?) was recommended to me by the clinic my dog normally goes to. I later find out that one of the vets at my dog??s regular clinic as well as one of the ??receptionists? also work at EAC. I rarely write reviews, but my experience this weekend compelled me to do so. Below are my opinions based on my personal experience.

Over the weekend, because my poor dog was extremely sick to the point in which could not walk without falling and landing on his back, I called ahead to EAC to tell them that I would need a stretcher. However, when I arrived, I was told that one was not available for whatever reason and my boyfriend, who recently had chest surgery, had to lift my 70+ lb dog into one of the exam rooms. The receptionist, though pleasant enough, appeared totally clueless and did not offer to help. In fact, she directed my boyfriend to two different areas before directing him to the exam room in which eventually we stayed in. When asked what would have happened if I were the only one dropping off my dog and could not lift him, she indicated to me that my dog would have had to remain in the car (presumably until she can get someone to help lift him). This comment signaled me to a lack of preparedness.
However, other issues subsequently arose which I found extremely frustrating.

First, during the vet??s examination of my dog, I indicated to her his inability to walk. Understandably, she wanted to see him attempt walking. When I asked whether he could simply attempt walking around the exam room, she indicated to me to open the exam room door. As expected, my dog attempted walking to the front door of the clinic to leave an unfamiliar place, slipping and falling along the way. To make matters worse, my boyfriend had to lift him back to the exam room. Seeing my dog this way just broke my heart. It made absolutely no sense to me that the vet had to see him walk about 12 ft when she could just have easily seen within the confines of the exam room that he was unable to walk property. Looking back, it scares me that he could have injured himself during one of his falls.

Second, when asked regarding the up to date cost (after about 19 hrs of care), I was told by the receptionist that I??d have to wait till 7 p.m. (about 8 hours after my question) to ask the vet herself. This response shocked me as I thought that they would have up to date costs for their clients. Further, I believe (and reasonably so) that as a customer, I was entitled to such up to date information without having to wait 8 hrs.

Third, when asked whether I can take my pet home on Sunday evening since the EAC essentially requires pet owners to pick up their pets at 7 a.m. on Monday morning to visit the pet??s normal vet, I was told that I??d have to ask the vet myself, again, at 7 p.m. I indicated that I wanted to leave a message for the vet notice regarding my question, but this receptionist (a different one) again told me that I??d have to ask myself. This shows me a lack of customer service and comes across as an attempt to shrink from responsibility (how hard is it to simply leave a message?).

Overall, these are only a sampling of incidents which I am extremely unhappy with. I must say that there were two male technicians who were very nice and helpful. In fact, it was one of them whom I learned my dog??s the diagnosis from (the vet, who I believe lacks interpersonal and communication skills and with whom I had actually spoken to earlier, had given me the impression that all the tests she ran yielded to no diagnosis for my dog).

The bottom line is that as a customer who is paying a premium for a service, I would have expected a much higher level of client service. And on a personal level, as a clinic specializing in emergency pet care, I would have assumed that the employees would be more knowledgeable and caring as pet owners and their pets would not be there but for the fact that an emergency has arisen. As for my dog, I believe that he is receiving adequate (but not great) care. However, I don??t believe that I received good value for my bill of $1350 (and climbing). I am just glad that I??ll be able to take my dog away tomorrow morning to his normal vet. I would definitely not return there unless I had no other choice.

I brought my pooch in for a chronic dry cough and shortness of breath. My vet was closed and he seemed to be having too much trouble breathing for me to ignore it and put it off until morning to see my regular vet.Dr. Tswugawa was extremely pushy about tests and xrays and quilted me into believing that it was a life or death situation. And that they could not treat his life threatening problem without xrays and tests. They estimated my costs (just testing, NO treatment) at 900.00 to 1100.00 $. I maxed all my credit cards, and applied for their credit to do all of these tests. I left a deposit of 700.00$ and left him for a few hours. When I went back to pick him up, I accumulated another 500.00 $ in additional costs and he still had not received ANY treatment. For a life or death situation, why was he not treated with anything. Its appalling that vets like this raise their prices so much that it cripples the average pet owner to treat their animal. Shame, shame, shame on them! They told me to take him back to my regular vet for follow up treatment. However, I haven't got one penny to spend on treatment now. And all of my credit went to them as well. My only option I'm afraid is to put him down instead of allowing him to suffer.I will NEVER take any of my pets back to this clinic!!! Ever.

my dog got really sick, and no one still really knows why. Could have been from that bad dog food thing going on or she ate some type of poison. Anyway it was late at night so we took our dog to this emergency vet. They were nice and tried to help as much as possible. The Vet wasn't sure what was going on with the dog. She was there over the weekend and we had to go pick her up on Monday morning. However, she wasn't well enough to go home. We had to take her to another vet. To make a long story short, the emergency Vet recommended a local Vet down the street. The Vet even met us over at the other clinic to see how the dog was doing. In the end we had to put our puppy to sleep, but they were all really nice and helpful. We did have to spend a lot of money to only end up putting our dog to sleep and not finding out what was wrong with her, but the vet was very sympathetic and i was very pleased. I guess it depends which Dr. you get when you go, but this man seemed as if he really loved animals.

Our dog was holding her tail oddly when we came home from work one night. Her regular Vet was already closed so we headed down to San Gabriel Valley emergency clinic.
Wow bAAAAAAAAAD IDEA! Bad!
Dr. Tsugawa hadnt even touched our dog yet { hadnt even shut the door to the examination room } and she was already saying that our dog was "wild" and would have to be sedated for xrays because her tail was broken. First of all I admit my dog is super friendly even when hurt but geez the Dr. was acting as if she was going to get bitten. Something our girl would not do. Something she ought to be able to guess working with animals everyday. I have in the past and I could tell....you develop a sense.
Then, before even examining her tail or explaining to us what was going on she began insisting upon sedation again and x-rays { again keep in mind BEFORE fully examining the dog or explaining what she was finding or costs} Stating
" Ok so were going to go sedate her and take x rays."
Something she said Repeatedly being extremely pushy 'as if' she had finished the exam,
all things were explained
or perhaps even mentioned
and we had agreed on a price. { not!}
My boyfriend had to literally stop her and say " Wait, explain this to me...you havent even finished touching the dog much less explained to us whats going on or the costs and you just want to wisk her away and do all of this?" { a 600 dollar cost come to find out}
At which point she got very rude. And said " look im touching your dog right now."
Geeze!! I know this comment is all over the place but honestly I feel more concerned and way worse after going to see the doctor. Plus now I owe them 160 bucks for nothing. Im seeing my real Vet tomorrow.
I'm a level headed person, my dog is super friendly and I own a business so I know whats just wrong when dealing with customers and let me tell you, that sucked.

I agree with the lady below. Bad experience but the male assistant was cool. Beware. Sereously.

My poor poor doggy! She had a life threatening experience and we were very worried and it was extremely late at night so we took her to Emergency pet clinic -- only place that was opened. As soon as we took her in, this extremely rude Filipino veterinarian was very apathetic and she seemed annoyed and didnt like animals. She really should not have chosen this profession in that case. The male assistant seemed nicer! Looking back if I had known I would have driven further out to another emergency clinic. In addition, the cost was nearly $1000. I would NOT NOT NOT recommend this clinic to anyone. STAY AWAY

PROS: none really
CONS: just about everything --- especially the prices and service
