Great food, awesome bartenders, and great service!! I have been coming here for years, and if you want to try it out I would recommend coming during lunch. Prices are cheaper and on Tuesdays they have a Tri Tip Sandwich special, the chili beans are EXCELLENT but you can only get them during lunch. Most deals coming with a salad, and garlic bread!! Try the ribs, they are the BEST!!

Dating myself, I was barely 21 first time I went to dinner at Henry's and Henry Puckett was alive and talking opera, etc and the bartender was Mike (a teacher) and Arturo was "the cook"...best food ever! When I walked into Henry's, someone would yell "Barbie Doll" and I would be embarrassed, but felt very at home there and introduced many people over the years to my favorite eating establishment.

I will be visiting the Bay Area the end of May and will be dining at Henry's and hope the food is still as good as it was since last time I was there...that was back in the late seventies!

Pros: BEST STEAK AND RIBS EVER!

Cons: NONE

I've been coming back to this joint with my family year in and year out. It has always been packed

with regulars for a reason. There are just some places you keep coming back to, because you feel at

home.

It's not the most attractive restaurant. In fact, it is a hole in the wall. Certainly not the place

to impress a first date! But, let me tell you, I've always enjoyed the tasty and juicy ribs, and I

never tire of it!

I've never been disappointed at Henry's and would highly-recommend it! Five stars for life!

This place is a total dive joint. There is no place to really park and at first sight you are thinking why am I here. Stay! Try the food. Head towards the back and have the ribs. They are so tender and fall off the bone. It comes with bread and a side and is well worth the money spent. They also have a few TV's in the bar area. Small but if you're trying to catch a game and have some ribs, this is the place.

Great food, great service. The only "problem" is that one needs to completely avoid the restaurant between the hours of 5:30 - 7:30 anytime The Sharks are at home!!! It is so bush then that you can't even find a place to stand, much less sit. Richard the owner/bartender is great, as is the food.

Henry's has been around for a very long time and I have been going there since the mid 80's. Every time I have gone, I have had great food. The experience is different from other restaurants. Henry?s can be very crowded, especially if there is a Shark's game going on. When you get there, you need to take a number and wait for them to take your order. The menu is on the wall along with the prices of the meals. But whatever you do order, you will not be disappointed. I personally do not care for the "butter" that the put on the baked potato so I ask for plain butter. You have to order their mushrooms, as this is a great side dish with your food. Yes it can be a bit pricey, but the food is great!!! I would recommend this place if you love BBQ meats. If you bring friends from outside the area, when you pull up, they may say you have to be kidding. But once they taste the food, they will thank you for bringing them there. Parking can be hard, again especially when there is a Shark?s game going on that evening.

Cons: parking

This is not your typical steak house, first you come in and get a number and drinks from the bar. Then the waitress takes your order and then they call you into the dinning area. It is a lot of fun and good food too!

I Iove this place! I'm so glad they have a location near my work. My experience has always been great at Henry's. The food is very fresh and the service has always been prompt and friendly. I've tried prime rib and ribs and its always really tasty and flavorful. The meat just melts in your mouth! It was so good! I mostly dine in evening when it is most crowded. The food at this place is fantastic so I dont mind paying a little more. I also really dig the environment, fun and relaxing. I've been to plenty of other places, but this place still rates the best in my book. I'm not sure why others I have asked had average food experiences here, but hopefully I dont have to encounter this when I go back..

The food here is always good. As for me, I get the baby-back ribs every time. Sometimes they are merely very good, but sometimes they are mind-blowingly good! My wife gets the steak or prime-rib and loves it every time. But the best part of all is how simple the place is... and I mean simple.... the decor, the potato and salad that comes with the meal, the building, everything. However, its hard to find a place like this if you are looking for something about as un-pretentious as it gets but with good chow. Sometimes its fun to go to Il Fornaio, Left Bank, Spago's, Bella Vista, Evvia, MacArthur Park or some other SV place for top notch food, higher class ambience and decor and so on... and sometimes its fun to go someplace really divey and simple but with good stick-to-your-ribs kind of fare. This is the latter. So come with the right frame of mind when you go here and just look to have some unpretentious fun!

I've been going to this place since 1988, and I aim to keep going there as long as the food and character stay the way they are!

Henry's is the best. The food is simple and great. The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. The ambiance is a trip back in time in a wonderfully historic part of the city. We've been loyal customers for years. It's a great place in the middle of a lazy afternoon and unbeatable before and after a Sharks game. The staff is enthusiastic and goes out of their way to help. We (two women of a certain age) wanted Henry's Grand Prix tee shirts a little early because we were leaving town and Jimmy gladly went in the side room and got us some. Go to their website and look at the great video. It's all true! Thanks guys!

I've only had the chicken here, but it was pretty good. Smokey and plentiful. However, the prices are a bit high for bbq and the wait was a little long. Sides are OK - nothing special. We've been there a couple times and the quality of the food is consistently good. Also, full bar for while you wait.

The parking is on the street, and the street can be kinda dicey. Otherwise, pretty good for bbq in the Bay Area.

I love the Hi-Life! I always order chicken dishes, which are delicious. The chicken is always moist and comes in large portions. Accompanied by the wonderful never-ending garlic bread and BBQ sauce, I usually walk out of there ready for a nap!!

I went here for lunch and had a New York Steak, but it wasn't so tasty. I though it was kind of flavorless. The bread and potato were ok. My coworker ate with me as well and he had the ribs. He said it was only ok.

Henry's was recommended by co-workers for the best steaks in San Jose. We knew to expect low ambience, but we were also disappointed by the food. The steaks were tough (overcooked) and not very flavorful. Maybe the BBQ ribs are better? The garlic bread and baked potato were good, salad ok, and mushrooms not worth the price. The waitress was overly-efficient, like asking the same thing too many times and clearing dishes before finished, which became annoying. I can see how some might enjoy the "rustic charm" of this restaurant, but I thought the extremely dimly lit atmosphere was an attempt to disguise the dirty walls and hide the quality of the food you are eating.

The SO and I headed to Henry's as a cure for a bbq jonesin' we were having. The place was exactly what we expected - decent BBQ at a price that wouldn't break the bank. The service was average, the seating was quick (7pm on a Wednesday night...it was looking crowded when we left, though), and the servings were huge (we shared one bbq plate between the both of us and still had leftovers).

Their menu is about 7 items, but get the ribs! The ambiance is sorely lacking in 'charm', but that is not what you go there for anyway, its the food.

This charming old place is like something straight out of the movies. The crowd is friendly and down-to-earth. The service is a little gruff, but hey that's part of the place's charm.

The food is magnificent. The ribs fall off the bone and the prime rib is probably the best in town. Its only served on Friday and Saturday or when the Sharks are playing a home game. So plan accordingly. And the prices are not bad at all. Give this place a try, you won't regret it.

I regret to say, that I cannot say a single nice thing about this DIVE. When I arrived, the first thing I saw was the butt cracks of old drunken men who reaked! When I was finally seated for dinner, I received a wilted salad with too much dressing. The martini was too stiff, and somehow, the steak ended up tough and undercooked, the potato was not fully cooked either. THE worst thing- the prices. For the poor quality of the food- the prices were sure high. I could've gone to Outback, or Black Angus! At least there, I would've had a good meal and great service.
