Good coffee, friendly to all ages even kids. Great for people watching.

by Neil S. | insider Insider | Rank: 23,256

The sidewalk location is excellent, the coffee is too. This is the corner for the neighborhood. A well designed iterior too, play area for the kids and it is still quiet and relaxed in there...

PROS: The best in the eagle rock area
CONS: none, starbucks across the street will stop this neighborhood

check out this scene.

by Katie D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,787

If you're ever driving through Eagle Rock, check out the corner of Colorado and Eagle Rock Blvd. At most any hour of the day, I can guarantee you this place is PACKED. I have only been there once, but I had some sort of coffee drink and gelato, both good. The environment is cozy and the scene is fairly young and hip. Also, a plus for parents, there is a small play area for kids in the shop that could certainly come in handy. The crowds must mean something, right?

Lovely people and good coffee

by Mirena R. | insider Insider | Rank: 32,283

Very nice staff. The environment is great for computer users as well as parents (there is a great toddler play area complete with toys). The coffee drink menu is extensive and the music they play is always good. Much better than Starbucks, and with more character.

The best coffee destination in L.A., bar none!

by Joe R. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,044

With an Ikea-friendly name like swork (yes, they don't capitalize their name), who could go wrong? The place is roomy without being cavernous, there's an entire kid's section with toys to boot, computer workstations, and there's a HUGE menu selection that includes t-shirts! Last but certainly not least, they've got the best blended drinks in town (and some that are sugar-free!). Check them out...you might never go home again!

An Eagle Rock Favorite

by C O. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,880

Although I was first a little wary of Swork because of its trendy vibe, I came to love it during my time as a student at Oxy, just around the corner. I love that the owner lives in the neighborhood and that there are a lot of locals who hang out there. I recommend the Mexican mocha.

PROS: sleek, locally-owned, can stay and relax for hours
CONS: drinks are slightly pricey

Excellent Coffee

by Adrian M.

Great atmosphere. Very hip. Try the Mexican Mayan Mocha. Finding parking can be challenging during high traffic hours. But the quality of the coffee is well worth the short walk.

Great Coffee - Computer Access - Patio Seating

by Justin M.

1st off I am biased. I went to OXY and while a student there spend a number of evenings (probably in the 100's) studying or hanging out here. The coffee drinks are great. The ice cream is great. There are computer terminals inside. There are seating areas for conversation and single seats for "work time." If you attend enough you start to get to know the locals. Some professors live in the neighborhood and bring their families here. There are some arts and crafts stores in the immediate area - a lot of those folks hang around too. It is what a coffee bar is meant to be - more of a "Bar" and less about selling large volumes of coffee. Granted there is not much parking, but come on folks walk a little.

PROS: All drink and snack offerings - better than Starbucks
CONS: Sometimes there are war protesters on the opposite corner and they guilt trip you for not protesting with them. Isn't it enough to have voted?!?!

Swork has everything. The coffee is great!, there are plenty of tables, there is a play area for kids, there are computers - although I have never used one. I highly recommend the low-fat mocha - all the taste with 1/2 the carbs and sugar.
