This place is great!! recommended by a friend, I decided to drop in and try it out. I dropped in on a Tues morning & they were able to take me right away. I asked for someone to focus on my shoulders (to get the kinks out) and I got a Thai lady who did a really great job and stretched my neck at the end too. I got a $5 coupon (on top of it being $47???!) so I'll be going back REALLY SOON!!!! p.s. recommended to anyone in need of a rub down! :)

Pros: Great price - great therapist ;-))

After a wonderful massage from Grace I was treated extremely rudely by a woman at the front desk named Carole. I found out later that she is the mother of the owner, so, good luck getting anything changed. But, hopefully this review will caution those of youthinking of going here. I gave my credit card to Carole after the massage. She asked me what my gratuity would be. I said 20%, thinking that was a good amount, $8.00. She immediately "corrected" me telling me I should read the sign saying it was common practice to give $10 - $20 per massage. Her manner was so gruff I was taken aback. I upped the amount to $10, however, if she'd presented it in a more gentle way I would have given the entire $20. The massage was great. But, Carole was curt, condescending, and clearly intended to guilt-trip me. She then proceeded to tell me how they worked really hard and deserved it. I agreed, and had naively given less than "expected." But, being shocked by the way she was talking I told her I was surprised at the way she was presenting this. It was uncomfortable for a customer who innocently thought they were giving an appropriate amount. She continued with "you know some of the masseuses won't even work on you again unless you leave at least $10," again, in a rude and condescending manner. I told her I was embarrassed by the way she was talking to me, especially in front of others. She said "You are embarrassing because you would leave such a small tip." Wow! Can you imagine? I found out later this is the way she treats people. No matter how great the massage, she ruins it. So, I highly recommend Grace as a masseuse, but, caution you to patronize "The Massage Place." If she really cares so much about treating their masseuses and masseurs so well, she and her son would pay them better rather than expect the customer to make up for what THEY don't want to pay. AND, if they cared about repeat business they would treat the customer better, as well. What a dive!

Pros: Grace is a great masseuse, but, only works on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Cons: Rude woman at desk

I work at a few of these places, and I was curious as to what the reviews would say..I think it's funny that someone who considers themself a good tipper(because they are the "east coast", of course they are) would think that a $10 tip on a $44 massage is a good thing...you obviously have never given a massage. It isn't bad, but it isn't great. Please feel free to go to a spa and spend a minimal of $115 dollars, to get a massage and a steam, then tip 20% on that. You are correct that is a GREAT TIP, but why when you are spending $44 dollars on a massage and no steam, you find it acceptable to tip$10??? You are tipping the therapist for the massage, not the spa. I have had NUMEROUS spa massages throughout my life, and I would still rather go to The Massage Place, spend $44 on a massage, then tip $20, and still have spent less then half of what I would have at a spa. Not every therapist here has been my favorite, but I went to someone different the next time, and have been amazed quite a few times. Do I expect a $20 tip every massage, of course not, but it really validates an hours work when a client recognizes that unlike restaurant staff, I only have one client an hour. I am not making "20%" off 5 clients at a time, with a new group of 5 clients every hour. The owners keep the prices so low, to keep the places busy, and in return we get to keep working, and pay our bills. We live off of the tips our clients leave us. Massage isn't something that can be done like most jobs, the body just can't take it. So next time you go get a massage please consider the fact that your therapist, whether they are the best massage you have ever had or not, is just trying to do what you do...keep the roof over their head, food on the table, gas in the car, and trying to help make the people in this world a little less disgruntled!!!

I love massage. I prefer Swedish, though I've had many varieties.
I called today to book a massage here, and the woman on the phone asked me what kind I would like. I said Swedish. She told me so-and-so "could do Swedish."
My massage was anything but Swedish. I found it very abrupt and pokey with lots of jabbing with the thumbs--hardly relaxing. At the end the massage therapist leaned in and told me "I hope you liked it. I didn't know what kind of massage you wanted so I gave you a combination."
Back at the front desk, the receptionist explained that my therapist doesn't give Swedish massage! I asked why the woman (from my phone call) had matched me up with that therapist. "Oh, that's the manager," she explained. "She's kinda..."
Well she's kinda short-sighted. I'm sure the manager put me in with whoever was available despite the fact that that therapist doesn't give the type of massge I asked for. This is the manager! This is how this massage place is run: get 'em in, get 'em out, next customer!

If you want cucumber water and eucalyptus scented oil, don't come here. But if you're looking for a really great, affordable massage, this is the place to go. The massages are excellent. Be sure to specify the kind of massage you'd like, because they have therapists for every ache and pain.
