My son just graduated from this school and had been going there for 3 years. The teachers are great and my son loved all of them. My son had some separation anxiety in the mornings and the teachers handle it wonderfully and when I left I knew that he was going to be fine and have a great day, which he always did. Now that my son is in kindergarten I see how lucky I was to have found such a great preschool that totally prepared him for kindergarten.

My child has been going to Murphy Canyon Preschool for about 2 years now. Everytime I drop her off she goes in with a big smile on her face and when I pick her up that smile is still there. Hugs are always waiting not only for my child but for me as well. It is a very confortable environment to walk into and I feel great leaving and knowing my child will be happy all day even though I can not be with her. I love this place.

Pros: Best I have found

Cons: None

Our daughter has been attending Murphy Canyon Preschool for the past 3 years, and has really enjoyed her experience there. She was in diapers when we first started there. As a "graduate", she now knows her ABC's, can count to 100, spell her name, recognizes words and is learning to read, and is understanding simple math. They have prepared her well for the challenges of Kindergarten!

I was very anxious to get my son into a Preschool when he was 3 and now he is graduating and starting Kindergarten in the fall. My son has had a wonderful experience at MCP. He has made some friends and truly adores his teachers and staff. I love how much work he brings home as well. Whether it??s a picture he colored or the project they did for the day. I remember being shocked when I heard him in the back seat singing the alphabet a while back. I was very confused because he hasn??t sung that song since he was really little. When I looked back in my rear view mirror he was signing the letters of the alphabet in sign language. It was amazing. He is so proud of himself and so am I. Thanks MCP

Our daughter has been attending Murphy Canyon Preschool for the past 3 years, and is about to graduate from there and begin Kindergarten in the fall. I love to pick her up from preschool, because she always tells me what she did that day, and often we sing all the way home to the songs that she has learned from there. She likes all the teachers and has many friends and even likes to go to school on days when we can keep her at home! Murphy Canyon Preschool has a well-trained staff that you can tell really enjoy working with children. They are very professional and keep all the children??s' safety and well-being as a first priority. I would highly recommend Murphy Canyon Preschool to any parent who is concerned about their preschooler being in a safe environment with academic and social developments emphasized. Murphy Canyon Preschool is not a babysitting service or daycare! They truly prepare your child to enter Kindergarten! My daughter was in diapers when we first started there. As a "graduate", she now knows her ABC's, can count to 100, spell her name, recognizes words and is learning to read, and is understanding simple math! I know she will miss it there and we will miss the exceptional care and the feeling of security we felt. Go check them out and see for yourself!

This preschool, tucked away in a safe, bright corner, has been a wonderful experience for our family. We found Murphy Canyon Preschool through a neighborhood mailing and are thrilled to have had our son enrolled for the past 9 months. We plan to have him attend another year, through pre-K. The caring staff knows each child well, and provides a great combination of fun, education and nurturing. It's comforting to know with whom he spends each day, and that he's both learning academic skills for elementary school and having a lot of good play/creative time as well.

After unpleasant experiences having our daughter in some of the "posher" SD area preschools, some even touting themselves as Montessori-based but turning out to be a nightmare, we are so happy to have found Murphy Canyon Preschool for our son.

My child started at this school when he was 18 months old and now has 1 more year till he has to leave to go to kindergarten. At first my son had a hard time in the mornings with crying when I had to leave him however in about a week or two he was running in to give the staff a hug and play with his friends. While he was having a hard time at first I called a lot. The director always made me feel great letting me know he was fine in minutes and was having a great day. To this day he is very happy going to school in the morning. As far as being clean and safe When I walk in very early in the morning I can tell things have been scrubbed and it looks and smells great. At the end of the day it just kinda looks like they had a great day but things still look clean. As far as safe I trust these people with my child's life on a daily basis and feel great knowing they are caring for my child better then anyone else I could have found. I am blessed to have found them.

I started my two sons at Murphy Canyon Preschool more than two years ago when I went back to work. I spent the first few days shadowing my child to make the transition easier, and to make sure I was comfortable leaving my kids in their care. I have one day a week off, so volunteer frequently and can tell you that the staff really care about each student there, and do their best to make it the most positive learning environment possible. They may not have the resources that $200-250/week programs do, but they make the most of the the resources they have. My older son 'graduated' from Kindergarten at his elementary school way ahead in reading and math and he received every citizenship and acedemic award offered throughout the year by his school. The foundation he received at MCP is a big reason why.

I have 3 children who currently attend Murphy Canyon Preschool and they all love it. We have been there for 1 year, and I am so thankful for this school. Not only are the staff members great teachers, they are all very caring with all of the children. I have never had any doubts that my children were being loved and very well cared for. Although all of the staff members are wonderful, Ms. Christina has been such a blessing for my boys. She not only helped me with potty training them, she has made such an impact in their lives, they ask for her on a daily basis. My daughter has strengthen her knowledge in reading and writing, and she is very well prepared to start kindergarten. I thank Murphy Canyon Preschool very much for the love and devotion they have given to my children. Every morning, when I see Ms. Cindy, she is always greeting the all of her students with love and a great big smile. I would recommend Murphy Canyon to anyone looking for a loving, caring place & SAFE place for their children.

I have Weds off, so volunteer frequently and can tell you that the staff really care about each student there, and do their best to make it the most positive environment possible. They may not have the resources that $200-250/week programs do, but they do the most they can with the resources they have. My older son is now almost done with his Kindergarten year at Birney Academy of International Studies (an IB magnet), and I believe that his current reading level of 10 (the state standard requires a level 3 by the time they leave K) has a lot to do with the foundation he received at MCP.

My 3 year old child attended this school for about six months in 2007. I remember feeling regret each time I dropped him off - not because of separation anxiety, but because something about the school just didn't seem right. (It was my first experience with a preschool and I had little point of reference.) The majority of the instructors were poorly groomed and seemed more like babysitters that teachers. One teacher had a bumper sticker which read "Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult". ??? The toys were quite worn (i.e. baby dolls with broken parts) and scarce, despite frequent fundraising by the school. I'll always wonder how the money was spent, because it certainly wasn't evident. In the end, it was the too-frequent smell of diapers that got me -- I couldn't stand the thought that my child might spend a day somewhere dirty. My lesson: If a preschool smells funny; looks drab rather than bright, clean and engaging; and if the teachers and staff aren't well-trained and passionate (!), do a little more research and find a better fit.
