I just got back from Whole foods on Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica tonight. I got there at the end of the day, and I know that people want to go home after a long day, but I was just trying to buy something. I knew what I wanted. I wanted some breakfast food and a little pair of baby slippers for my friend's baby shower in the morning. I saw a sign that said the slippers were 28.00, so I decided to get them. It was 9:55 and the store was closing so I got in line. The line was long and I was waiting. Then they announced that the garage would be closing in 10 minutes. So I was worried because they said that the gate would close promptly in 10 minutes and if your car was there it would be stuck for the night. I was about to leave without buying the things, but a nice person let me go in front of her in line. So I bought the stuff and darted out to get out of the garage. When I got out I thought about my total and it seemed higher than I thought it should have been. So I looked at the receipt, and sure enough they overcharged me for the baby slippers by about 10 dollars.
So I pulled over and knocked on the front door and asked the man behind the locked door. It was raining pretty hard and he just watched me as I got soaked standing in the cold. He said that I needed to go back the next day to get it cleared up. I have been going to this place for seven years and have supported that store. I am taking the slippers back tomorrow and never shopping there again. I just felt so unappreciated as a customer. I felt if anything like I was impinging on them and should never have gone there in the first place. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

If there is one thing I have learned in this horrible recession, it's that the people who buy things from you are supporting your business. Without them you would go broke and be out on the street. If someone is nice enough to support your business you should be great full and treat them that way.

I've visited a lot of whole foods and i expected a lot more from this prime location -- unfortunately, the whole body dept is NOT among the best i've seen -- they no longer carry Ecco Bello vanilla shampoo/conditioner and the Weleda salt toothpaste is always out! I suppose these could be the fault of the manufacturers, but still.. with a store that is frequented by celebs & folks w/high expectations, i'd expect more. that said, they have a great cheese selection -- try the animal rennet-free version (it'll say 'enzymes' or 'vegetable rennet.' yummy!

Whole foods has a great deli, salad section, and if you love olives, don't miss the Olive Bar, with about a dozen varieties available. There is something for every palate, whether your yen is for cheeses, fruits, vegetables, grains, meats, or whatever. In the deli, there is plenty of pre-made stuff you can eat cold or cook at home (or even in the office microwave). This is definitely not an indulgence for the budget conscious, though. If you want to save a few sheckels, get your farmer's market fresh fruit and veg at the farmer's market instead.

I've bought whole dungeness crabs as well as king crab legs here and they're out of this world. Their produce is crisp and very fresh--the last time I bought corn here it was perfect! Their drink selections could be a bit better but they've got so much of everything else, it's awesome. Free parking.

Huge cheese selection, plus the knowledgeable employees will recommend things and even offer you samples. The entire supermarket is very clean with a nice layout. Large produce department with all the staples and some surprises. Good seafood (I normally get my seafood at the wonderful Santa Monica Seafood, but occasionally Whole Foods will rival their freshness and prices) and great butcher department. Decent prices for organic meats, usually EXTREMELY fresh. Although just this week I bought a steak from them that turned out to be not so fresh, but that's the first tie it ever happened so hopefully that was the exception to the rule. Very nice hot and cold salad bar (love the edamame salad) and wine selection. Plus the other good stuff a natural foods grocery store sells. BEST THING about all Whole Foods stores is they don't sell any products with partially hydrogenated vegetable oils (trans fats) so you don't have to read labels for that. Only complaints: the parking garage is built for small cars and unfortunately the reality is that a lot of people drive SUVs. And those people often don't know how to navigate their huge SUVs in tight places. So I usually try t o find a spot on the street. Also this location gets very crowded during the weekends, especially Sunday, so I recommend shopping during the week if possible.

I have never actually shopped at Whole Foods for groceries. What I can see as I walk to the lunch food area looks nice.

I am, however a raving fan of the lunch selection that Whole Foods offers. There are ?made-while-your-wait? sandwiches, sushi, soups, pizza, pre-made meals to eat cold or microwave and there is a salad bar. The salad bar goes above and beyond the tradition salad offering and includes enchiladas, pastas, cooked vegetables and more. Everything is good. Everything is fresh and healthy (well? as can be).

There can be lines and sometimes it gets crowded. The ?system? is self serve so getting behind a 1st timer or an indecisive person can cause a wait, but it is worth it. Lunch at Whole Foods is not inexpensive, but for what they offer it is a value. You can eat a healthy lunch that is filling for about $10.

PROS: Great Lunch and everything else

This is one of the biggest Whole Food stores near my home. Okay, the negative is the parking (street parking in front is almost nonexistent). They have parking in the back and that isn't terrific either. Having said that, this store is huge, and has a wide selection of organic/natural food and products, great produce, meat.

Selection is wonderful, customer service, like all of their stores is generally above what you would find in a Ralph's Von's, etc.

Prices are high, so if you aren't well off, pick and choose your favorites.

I love their banana and lime tarts in the bakery section. Lots of delicious homemade whipped cream. I'm trying to lose my last 10 pounds, so just do this once in a while.

Try this store when it isn't too crowded so parking will be doable.

PROS: Healthy/organic/gourmet food, products, great customer service
CONS: Parking and pricey, but worth the extra cost for products important to you

The Whole Foods in Santa Monica is fantastic. The parking is underground, unless you can find a spot out front, and there are elevators available. They have a huge assortment of items and the layout is very easy to follow. There is a deli section available, and foods that have been all prepared for either eat-in dining (theres a series of tables and chairs outside or a counter with stools inside) or for take out. This food is very good, and at very reasonable prices. The staff is outgoing and can point you in the right direction if youre not sure where to look. This is an excellent spot to head to if youre looking for healthy food in Santa Monica.

This is probably my least favorite Whole Foods location. Everything about it is crowded, from the location to the parking garage to the aisles themselves. The store isn't laid out particularly well either and I often find myself trolling around forever in search of something. Customers here are pretty rude, for whatever reason (the neighborhood maybe).

Groceries are good, though.

There are a lot of good things I can say about Whole Foods. We shop here at least once per week and even though it may cost more than Vons or Ralphs it is more than worth it in terms of the quality and the shopping experience (except for the awful parking garage). For the purposes of this review I am just going to stick to the cheese. This has got to be one of the best places in LA to get good cheese, and specialty meats to go with the cheese such as pancetta. They have a ton of varieties and at all price ranges. If you are into cheese experimentation like me you'll pick up a different variety every time. On the down side I have never had any luck with their olives or their prepared sandwiches. They usually are pretty disappointing which is strange considering everything else is so high quality. But all in all a great place to shop.

PROS: Excellent produce, great gourmet foods
CONS: expensive, addictive

Until they bring Central Market to Los Angeles, anyway.

I can actually get everything I need at Whole Foods. The catch is, it will probably cost me more than it would elsewhere. However, the quality probably makes it worth it, since I don't ever have to throw out things I buy for being disgusting, which sometimes happens with other stores' products.

They always have plenty of tasty produce. Wild Oats tends to run out of things, and Trader Joe's doesn't have good produce in the first place. I am very fond of Whole Foods' prepared fruit cups, which are fairly expensive, but delicious and worth not having to cut up pineapple, a canteloupe, a honeydew, and some strawberries myself.

They also have better than average grocery store sushi, although I still wouldn't recommend anything but the veggie rolls, and you can even get your sushi made with brown rice. The ice cream selection is extensive and includes uncommon brands like Ciao Bella and whatever brand it is that makes fruit and alcohol flavored sorbets, which are a welcome replacement for the margarita sorbet that Haagen Daas discontinued many years ago. They also have a less expensive store brand, and popular name brands like Breyers and Starbucks.

Their bakery is amazing, and so is their cheese selection and fresh seafood selection. They also have a ton of freshly prepared food available for take-out (also not cheap), or you can even eat it there.

Parking at Whole Foods can be a pain--the garage is narrow and busy, and street parking is scarce. It's not enough to deter me from going, but it can make a quick run impossible. I recommend going between 8-10pm if you can.

This is the Whole Foods Market in Santa Monica, which is always clean, with very helpful staff to help you select supplements. I tried their breakfast buffet and it was very tasty. Wide variety of organic produce and health products. They now even carryGarden of Life products! Parking in front of the store is scarce, but they do have a parking garage in back even though it's rather narrow.
