1 Stars: SUPER BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AT FENTONS OAKLAND CA (by R. M.)

Called ahead of time to see if they carried a particular type of pie. I was told they did, they had them in stock and I was given the price. Made a trip there only to be told that the price quoted me was wrong. I understand people make mistakes but the manager did absolutely nothing to gain my continued patronage. He basically said there's nothing he can do for me.
In essence, the manager stated "you called here, was told a price of an item; you drove here expecting to pay that price, you arrive and discover the amount was wrong, well, screw you, I can't/won't make this situation better."
To the manager, I would suggest a refresher course in customer relations and customer satisfaction. Personally I will never treat my customers the way I was treated. I've gone out of my way to accommodate people who are buying from me, whether refunding their purchase price, shipping price or both.
Fenton's you receive two thumbs down from me. I will discourage any and everyone from patronizing your establishment, whether family members or business associates. It may only be a small dent but sometimes those are the ones that really hurt.

5 Stars: Fenton's Creamery is Great! (by Rhonda G.)

Now this is a special place for me and my family! We love to go to Fenton's to get a huge cone of ice cream! It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold outside when we think of some good old ice cream to soothe our appetites, we think of Fenton's

5 Stars: Great ice cream--HUGE portions (by Nicole K.)

Fenton's--ahhh an Okaland classic. Bring the kids, all of them and their friends and prepare to pig out. Food is good, ice cream and Sundaes are even better.

4 Stars: Two Words: Jersey Fudge (by Brandon K.)

Pros:
Good ice cream, great toppings (Jersey Fudge = awesome). The sundaes are huge. You think the two scoop seems wussy, but it's not. Underestimation is key here.

I haven't had the food, but it looks like a typical greasy spoon (think nicer Denny's / Mel's).

Cons:
Parking -- there is absolutely no parking and they really pack 'em in. On any weekend and a lot of week nights, expect not only to wait, but to park really far away.

2 Stars: horrible customer service (by jamie d.)

The food there was great but the service there is horrible. my family waited 25 minutes just for place settings & our drinks to arrive not to forget that we had to ask the waitress for soda cause she never asked us. When i went to find her for a refill they were security guards every where because of a fight in the front of the resturant. after waiting 15 minutes i had to find her agian to remind her about our refills. Horrible customer service & would never go there agian.

5 Stars: Fantastic Ice Cream, great service and a nice environment (by Deb S.)

Really, truly nice ice cream and sundaes. Service with a smile in a beautifully reimagined restaurant (the original burnt down a few years ago). My family are lacto vegetarian so there are not loads of options here on the regular food menu but thankfully, the ice cream has no egg yolks in it according to staff. There are a few sandwiches and the gardenburger for veggie people but many more options for the rest of the world. What looks to be a huge menu. I have had the curly fries and they are great. My friend always got the BLT and raved about it.

Go here for a huge sundae to share with your family or for a birthday sundae where the whole store sings the song. You will leave happy.

5 Stars: very creamy, very tasty (by Gavin W.)

Indulgence is pretty much the word of the day when you come here -- lots of people crowding to get a table at this eatery that serves ice cream as its specialty. Imagine having to get on a waiting list just to sit down to eat ice cream. I mean what is it made of, gold?

Well whatever it was made of, I'd have to say the wait was worth it, cause I left there feeling mighty full and satisfied.

The ambience is fun and family oriented, even late at night.

4 Stars: Fun place, good ice cream, long lines. (by Chris C.)

Fenton's is the place to go when you want to take lots of people out for a good amoutn of ice cream for a good price. Being a student at Cal, we get 10% off but when you take a group of about 5-6 people and load yourself up with a jumbo platter of ice cream, everyone is going to be walking out of the store with an ice cream hangover. This is a fun place to go to with a group of friends, the ice cream is standard but a good selection, but expect to wait 20-40 min for a table on friday and saturday nights.

5 Stars: The perfect place for a perfect date! (by Julio G.)

When it comes to Fentons I have a lot of good memories. I just going to give you a pointer about my game: For the past two years every first date have, fentons is one of the places that i go to. The enviroment is smooth, people are nice, they have good food, and lets not forget about the ice cream. So, next time that you are not sure where to take that special person, go to Fentons, at least good food you are going to have that day.

PROS:
CONS: Parking, and college freaks.

5 Stars: I scream, you scream... (by Greg H.)

Fenton's Ice Cream is our favorite is our favorite ice cream parlor. They have over a dozen flavors and even more ice cream creations like sundaes and massive floats. The ice cream and ingredients are high quality and delicious. They also have sandwhiches and salads, but the ice cream is the resaon to come. Expect to pay somewhat higher prices than normal and to wait in line and to be surrounded by noisy kids, but the ice cream is simply worth it.

4 Stars: Best Butter Brickle (by Jay D.)

Fentons Creamery is something of an East Bay Landmark. Here you can have a giant sundae or a simple scoop of a time-honored flavor. I'm partial to the Butter Brickle, though sometimes I think there could be a little more Brickle in there. Creamy homemade ice cream in an ice cream parlour setting.

4 Stars: Great ice cream, crowded (by Dan B.)

This place offers intense ice cream and sundaes. Definitely an indulgence. They're quite popular so lines can be long if you actually want to sit and eat. (They also offer standard American style food, but I'd pass unless you want the complete "malt shop" feel.) Instead, take home a pint or two...

5 Stars: Perfect Ice Cream (by Ajna R.)

A Fenton's ice cream cone is a delicious mess of creamy rich ice cream filled with large chunks of chocolate, nuts, cookies, or your choice of poison. You can either be served directly from the counter by a friendly harried server or wait to be seated at one of their old-fashioned booths or tables and eat there.
A word of warning: Even the smallest size is gigantic, so be sure to bring a friend to help you eat it.

PROS: delicious, friendly, inexpensive
CONS: fattening

4 Stars: The ice cream is served in a truly old fashioned cherry topped creations (by Lucinda T.)

Fenton's is so hot with locals and customers from miles around that when it burnt down several years ago, they didn't hesitate to rebuild. Their handmade icecream is heaven and worth the price to sit and eat in luxury in the red shiny booths. Personally, I can never finish mine. If your in the Oakland, CA area, make a stop for one of thier specialities.

5 Stars: yummy ice cream (by jennifer i.)

this place is great. a very typical retro family ice cream parlor.

the place is always crowded. the young kids that work there look exhausted. the place is crazy. plan to wait to get a table. it is much quicker to get a cone to go and take a walk up and down piedmont avenue.

the ice cream is good and the portions are off the hook. a regular scoop is the same size as a double else where - be prepared to grab napkins and an extra cup to plop your cone down.

great ice cream and a great place to take the family and friends while in oakland.

5 Stars: If you like ice cream, visited the Bay Area, and never been to Fenton's... (by Tornado W.)

...I don't know you.
Just Kidding.
I've been to Fentons for over 10 years. And it never ceases to amaze me how great their ice cream is. What's special about Fentons? The ice cream is made on site (hence the creamery title) and you can purchase their ice cream to go. The portions are huge, prices are very reasonable, and the service is fast. There's usually a line out the door and around the building on the weekends and at night (open to 11pm on everyday and Midnight on Fri and Sat). Fentons is a local landmark and many generations have been going there for years. Fentons is also a great place for the family. I've only ordered the ice cream, so I have no idea what the other food items (burgers, salads, etc.) are like. But if their ice cream is any indication of the quality of their other foods items, I'd have to say the food should also be great. Oh, and they take reservations!

PROS: Best ice creamery in the Bay Area. Casual and nostalgic atmosphere. Very Reasonable prices for the amount of ice cream you get. Popular among the locals. Great for birthdays. Just go there already.
CONS:
