I do not know what all the hoopla is over. My wife and I ate at this joint and had to wait an hour. The service wasn't memorable and the food was...meh.

I honestly do not know what all the fuss is about. I last ate at this restaurant with my husband after a lengthy 1 hour wait. The service was forgettable and the food was nothing special, whatsoever.

The mixed reviews of Ebisu below are understandable. The place used to be one of the best sushi restaurants in the City. It has been oversold and simply can't truly accomodate the level of traffic it endures, at least on weekends. I regularly dine out in Tokyo and, although the restaurants there are small in size, they are generally not elbow to elbow crowded once you are seated, as is Ebisu. In short, the experience (and food) is being compromised by the facililties. Time to relocate. (Note: The two previous reviewers must have gotten lost. Paella?)

Whether you sit at the sushi bar or at a table, service will be great and the food delicious. They even have a tatami room if you want to sit on the ground (which I recommend if you have small children).

PROS: Delicious food, friendly staff.
CONS: It gets packed very quickly.

The sushi was great with fresh sashimi also. The wait can be very long sometimes. Also, parking can be very difficult. The restaurant is also kind of small.

PROS: sushi
CONS: parking, price

The food is great here and service is excellent, however I always end up waiting since it gets really crowded. Its kinda hard to find parking in the area. The sushi rolls are great, just thinking about it makes me hungry. I think this is one of the best sushi go-to's in the city. Highly recommended.

One of the better sushi restaurants in SF for the price. Great, fresh fish and creative rolls (try the '49er). They don't take reservations, so get there early or expect a wait.

Ebisu is a longtime favorite with sushi connoisseurs. If it's available, get the toro (fatty tuna belly); the meat seems to melt in your mouth. The yellowtail, sea urchin and sweet shrimp are reliably first-rate (the last served with their…
