I have two children going to Challenger School Middlefield campus for two years now. My son is thriving there and my daughter is getting so much personal attention and care, I cannot thank enough for administration and teachers' effort. Mr.Figueroa who recently left school had been amazing with personal care of each student and Ms. Kamilah, my daughter's kindergarten director is simply an amazing and warm person. I know everyone has different views and experiences with the school, but for my two children, I cannot think of a better place. If you want your child to be responsible, self reliant and learn to deeply appreciate any subject with confidence, you need to experience this school.

Challenger School is a great organization with a mission that our society really needs. I love what they are trying to achieve. However, as in seemingly every project, execution depends on the people involved.

In the Sandy location, a woman named Mary who seemingly has no concept of the Challenger mission is riding roughshod over students and teachers alike and trying to establish a police state. Unfortunately she has enough authority to cause a lot of trouble. Morale at the school is very poor, teachers are looking for other jobs, and some of the children are feeling persecuted and emotionally damaged.

I don't recommend you send your child to this branch of Challenger.

Challenger school education is good but they only focus on academics but no field trips or sports. In the curriculum kids need some time for field trip which is also a practical way of learning things.Challenger is not good in hiring teachers and they hire very low education teachers since challenger dont want to pay very high salary to them.Though they charge high fees from parents and keep on increasing the fee every year.I believe they don't treat their staff well since teachers leave the school and dont want to come back.Management should understand that challenger is surviving only on fees from Asians. They should listen to the parents which they don't they don't want to pay any heed to parents comments and don't want to improve. It is human nature that they learn from their mistakes

My son went to challenger school. Good thing is they have good reading program. Rest is pretty bad. They bring on board really low quality indian teachers(who cant speak english very well themselves). Since they accept really low salary( no body else is giving any work). Challenger is purely business, ruthless school. They put the number of kids in a class at the states highest level allowed in a class(1:32). Worst than public schools. I had never seen smile on some of the teachers face. Basically you are paying really high fee for low grade teachers. They are collecting money based on brand name, not on good teacher or facility. Administration is miserable. Stratford is booting them out. Recently challenger closed pomeroy campus, stratford just opened a new branch there. Thats a clear indication of slowly they are loosing business to stratford. Also the teaching is based on 1970 model. If you look at the dvd's, they give to kids for 4 years(preschool), all the actors in that dvd's are dressed like 70's dresses. They never even bother to change the dvds. Their fees are about 50% higher than stratford(17000 vs 12000) for preschool. Send your kid to stratford and extra reading practice, you can send your kids to http://www.thereadingclinic.com/, where they give one to one direct training. Still you will save lot of money.

I have had two children in Challenger schools. The younger one is in Challenger, Palo Alto now and I am very impressed with the school's approach to educating him. The staff expect a lot out of my son. The two desirable outcomes are that even in meeting part of the expectations, he is learning a lot. More importantly, he is kept so focused on his goals he does not have time to get into trouble.
I am very happy with the school.

You get what you paid for.... "what they think is an education worth $$$" I feel that the challenger in Palo alto sucks because of the uncaring management... "drop your kids, we give him/her the education we think is good. Don't be interested, don't ask questions and don't bother us, we know what is best for your kids.
What Challenger in Palo Alto needs to do is to improve and educate their staff. The school targets the Indian and Asian community and has no diversity. The directors have no communication skills and feel they work for corporate not the parents therefore no need to communicate with the parents.
It may be that they are underpaid and overworked.

I had very good impression about challenger schools, but when I sent my kid to Palo Alto school, my impression is completely changed. Staff at Palo Alto school is completely ruthless, they are just money minded and they do not show any courtesy with parents. Their directors are very frustrating; I am not sure why their management not taking any action or teaching some customer care classes to their directors.
I never recommend any one to Palo Alto challenger until their directors are replaces especially in their pre school program

We've been very happy with Challenger Pre-School.
Our 4-year olds go there and they come back full of facts and
seem happy learning. The staff is supportive and helpful.
They're a bit expensive but worth it.

PROS: Excellent academics and supportive staff

What set this school from the rest is the attention each teacher gives to each student. They don't treat you like another person. They want to help you grow and want you to learn. They take the extra necessary steps to influence you in your school work.

If your child is ready for an academic preschool program, I think you'll find he or she will be happy and make a lot of progress. Most kids come out of the preschool knowing how to read a bit.

Our younger child went through this and was excited when he arrived and when he left at the end of the day. If your child is both learning and happy, there's a lot to be said for the program.

The staff was very good. They are a highly structured school, which leads to less inconsistency in the preschool teachers.
