They have the best thin crust pizza here and what separates them from everyone else is their crust!! The garlic rolls are also very very good and price is so affordable! $8.50 for a whole lunch special (which includes an individual pizza of 6-8 slices, a side salad, garlic roll and drink)

I used to live nearby and my friends love pizza. So I treat them, and they always smile as soon as they have the first bite. The flavor is good. That's important, plus the sause, cheese and bread. I suggest getting a large salad to share and order one large pizza you and your friends can enjoy. I've spotted a few local hollywood artists picking up a slice or two. Don't stay too long or you'll overstay your welcome.

I've been ordering pizza from village for a few years and have usually been very satisfied.....but lately, the pizza has become too soggy. Ask for it extra crisp does not matter. I will give it one more try then will need to find a new neighborhood pizzeria :(

My husband and I love pizza and we love walking on Larchmont. Although we have dined at Village Pizzeria a dozen times, our experience is always the same. The wait staff seems to rush us through our meal, giving us the check before we have asked for it, even when there is no one waiting for a table. The pizza is just OK. It's usually a little soggy because they don't bake it long enough but the toppings and the thickness of the crust are good. If I order a slice of pizza, I only get the cheese. When you order a slice with toppings, they put the toppings on a slice of cheese pizza and reheat it so the toppings are still raw and crunchy. Not good.
Basically, this is not nearly the best pizza in the city but the location is convenient for us and the price is reasonable.

This place is superb. Great pies, great toppings, quickly made. If you are sitting down, relax, if you are ordering form your house, pick it up. It's too good of a pie to complain.

We all know that good pizza is hard to come by in LA, but fear not, as Village Pizza has come to save us all!

They've just opened a new store in hollwooy, on Yucca. Which just so happens to be a 3 min walk from my office. Most lunch times are now pizza or some variation thereof.

Their calzone is to die for. I highlt reccomend it. Everything else is just as good and the price is excellent.

Hopefully they'll open up a store on the west side so that i can eat it for dinner to!

What a bummer. I was really looking forward to finding a good local pizzeria. I moved to Ktown recently and have been looking for a good pizza place. With the Zagat ratings the Village has, I thought I'd be eating yummy pizza. Unfortunately not. My pizza dough was soggy. The toppings bland. Totally disappointing.
I ordered the feta, artichoke pizza. I think it may be too ambitious of a pizza for them because it didn't work. Everything fell off the dough and the dough was soggy. The sauce was bland and the consistency strange.
So my quest continues for a good pizzeria option around Koreatown.

Having been born and raised in New York and lived in Chicago for years -- I know good pizza. This is awful. I am convinced that those that post positive comments here must be the owners. If not, then you need a taste bud transplant. Is there anyone who can tell me where there is GOOD pizza in L.A.? I'm not even asking for great pizza - just good pizza!

every village has one and the owner of this place truly is it for larchmont. took my family there about 2 weeks ago for a early dinner. my wife sat with the kids as i ordered at the counter. after finishing my order i sat down and proceeded to wait for our food. after waiting for about 15 minutes, i was told that they boxed up my food because i had ordered from the counter i would not be able to sit with my family and eat in the place. does this sound normal to you. its a pizza place. i was at a loss of words. i know they are from NY but what the.... by the time we got home the pizza was so soggy we ate about half of it...i know its not fine dining but if i am spending money in your place please treat me with respect. that will be the last time i wll go or order from there. and my wife will be telling everyone at the kids school.

The pizza at this place is better than average, the service is decent, but the owner, Steve, is a miserable and rude human being. He hovers over tables, tries to pack up your food in to-go boxes before your are finished eating, brings the check while you are still eating, and makes faces when kids are in his restaurant. He also mumbles under his breath to his staff that people take too long in his restaurant. He needs to understand that is is a very casual pizza joint where families should be able to take their children. All he cares about is getting customers in and out of his restaurant as quickly as possible, even if nobody is waiting. I would much rather go a few doors down to Barri's and have a nice experience. Chill out Steve and be thankful that people continue to eat at your restaurant.

I am sad to share that the poor customer service will prevent my family, friends and I from ordering pizza here again. After attempting to call in an order and hearing the Village Pizza employee swear left and right while on "hold" we had to cancel the order. She shouted "I'm going to bl#w a f&*#n gasket right now just so everyone knows..." after making a mistake on our order and having to start over again. Sorry if listening is not your strong skill. I asked to speak to the manager and she said she was and made no effort to apologize for her rude behavior. If it's too hot in the kitchen, get out. We called Berri's instead were greeted with a very friendly employee and know that not only is the pizza good, but so is the service.

No joke--Village is THE best pizza you will ever eat. Even if you scour all of Italy. Great atmosphere, families, young couples, old couples, groups of friends, singles ...
Reasonaly priced for one of the best meals in L.A.
Larchmont is a really cool area to stroll around before or after ... Baskin Robbins, Pinkberry, every coffee shop you could imagine.
Thin crust, zesty yet not too tangy marinara, fresh mozzerella, array of toppings to choose from.
Steve, the owner is awesome. So is everyone else who works there. It's just the BEST!

I have read all the review both positive and negative. I must agree with those that rave about Village Pizzeria. Yes, it is small and busy, but the food is worth the wait. I have never had a bad eating experience there in the 5 years that I have been going there. Lately, my wife and i have been going for early Sunday dinners there. For us, it doesn't seem like a Sunday night unless we've each had our slice and garlic rolls. The best part of the experience is the food. Everything is fresh and you can taste the difference. Plus, the prices are more than reasonable.

If you can deal with a little wait for a table and the parking situation on Larchmont (those who go there know how to handle it), then Village Pizzeria is the place to go. The price is right and the food is superb.

As a (native) NY-pizza fan, I can honestly say that this is the best pizza I have tasted in this city. Technically speaking, I have yet to find an actual "NY style" pizza joint, where you can walk in and throw a couple of dollars on the counter and walk away 5 minutes later with a fresh hot slice on a paper plate - without the obligatory sit-down fiasco. I miss that simplicity, however - as far as flavor and texture, this stuff reaches the mark closer than any others I've tried in L.A. And don't forget about the Sicilian - wow! Near perfection in my book - crispy bottom, with the perfect fluffy yet chewy inch and a half crust - just divine, people.

Having come from NY and knowing what good pizza is, this place has it all! The best pizza I've ever eaten here in CA. I can't say enough good things about how fresh, hot and tasty the pizza is. The salads are great too. Just beware of the wait because this place fills up fast and there isn't much space. Going with a party of 4 or more can mean 30 minutes or more before getting seated. But, it's all worth the wait. Everything tastes good here.

Does the owner(s?) really think people don't know that he is posting about his own restaurant? What a class act!! I recognize his writing style (run-on sentences, no punctuation, excessive "-----" usage) from the rants that are posted around his restaurant. The pizza business must leave a man bitter....

If all you want is good pizza, the village pizzeria has some of the best is Los Angeles, for whatever that's worth. I also like Domianos, Cheebo, that "casa" place, high times, and Albanos just fine. But, what is something as common as good pizza worth if it supports bad people? It's kind of like how buying illegal substances supposedly supports terrorism.

If the place is so good, then why does the owner write bogus reviews on here? Why not just let his joint speak for itself? What a class act!!!

we read these reviews --we care -we appreciate positive feedback --we are sensitive to the feedback which at times seems more personal than anything
i am the owner and i am sorry for any problem you may have had --but again --we only ask that you characterize a true and accurate accounting of your experience
when i visit your business i will follow your outline so that you may operate at your best -perhaps should you visit my place again -you will allow me to operate mine as i see fit -you have the right to choose another restaurant
as for unhappy complainers not satisfied -i am sorry -sincerely

The pizza isn't bad. It's not the best, not the worst , but we recently dined at Village Pizzeria (granted they were busy, but the dine-in experience took 1 hour and 45 minutes.... for just pizza and soda) and then we asked the waiter to split our bill three ways, no problem, that is until a crazed manager approached our table mumbling about how inconsiderate it was to ask such a thing on a "busy" night and then running away before we even had a chance to respond. We then went to find him and apologize (I never thought it was a huge inconvenience and since the bill was $36 divided by three.... it can't get much easier) he began to lecture us on how we must only dine at restaurants with tablecloths and napkins (not really sure what that means), not joints like his, before then running away again mumbling. If he's going for NY attitude, take it from an east-coaster, he failed; in NYC they stay and argue if they have a problem, not run back to their oven. Then to top it all off our pizza crust was pretty badly burnt in two corners, and we didn't even complain. I don't think we'll be going back again, but I just wanted to put the word out so others will know what they are in for if they choose Village Pizzeria: New York name, LA attitude. Yuck.

The last review sounds like the owner. From what I know of him, he's defensive and specific. Look, the pizza is fine. It isn't New York, and it never will be. As for the toppings issue-get what you want and ask for it crispy. If they can not accomodate you without getting in a huff about, it then go somewhere else. There is one thing that he needs to realize; This is California not New York. You can keep the spirit of New York, but your clientele is different. Deal with it and accept change. I believe that part of the reason this place is so busy is because the food is dirt cheap and and it is in a great area. The service is fine. It would be better if the waiter didn't have over 11 tables. The cooks will have an attitude if you return the food. So, with that said, if you are looking for no variety, a typical slice, and to keep your mouth shut, go to village pizzeria.

angry people who don't get their way always show themselves --then they run home and hide behind their computer and write a harmful review about quality and service ---"cry me a river"---- go to the corparate restaurants and get your free meal voucher after you complain .......
yes pizza with lots of toppings get soggy and are hard to get crispy-----
yes pizza that travels in a box for a minimum of 10 minutes gets soggy --
new yorkers know this .......
however -we grew up eating PLAIN CHEESE PIZZA --NO TOPPINGS !!!!!!!!! (maybe pepperoni or black olives ......maybe ...)
spend one day in the restaurant-----food service business and you will understand better about customer service and the complainers that are never happy-
i know these guys --and i know how much they care --and i know how good their product is --how fresh and of top quality -
oven temp is between 525 and 575( as it should be )-
people who do not get their way always complain -it's their first amendment right
if you think you know about pizza --go yourself -you be your own judge............and be fair...not angry.....

Village Pizza in Larchmont is definitely a place I'll NEVER be returning to. I ordered a half-Sicilian. It came with the dough overcooked and burnt on one side and underneath. (Upon superficial inspection.) I had them take it back only to have the cook trying to convince me that the dough had to be that "well done" in order to prevent the dough from being raw and the toppings uncooked. Upon eatting it, the dough was worse than expected. The secret is most likely old, pre-cooked dough (pie) that had toppings placed upon order and cooked again to the point of being burnt. Shame on me for not sending it back the first time permanently.

If you want great pizza...go to Pagliacci's in Seattle or Giordano's in Chicago.

Was treated rudely once again so here I am hiding behind my computer to write about it.. We had just started eating our pizza and were told that they "needed the table" and had to give it up. So if you order at the counter don't expect to be allowed to sit down. Maybe this kind policy is common but it sure ruined our visit to the place.

Nothing fancy... just feels like you're in The Village (Greenwich, not Larchmont)... the crowds, too few small tables, thin crust: it adds up to a nice New York Atmosphere... Pizza's pretty good, too... but the crust and sauce are more authentic and tasty at Albano's (which is my absolute favorite New York style pizza in L.A.).

The food was late. The calzone was made POORLY. All the cheese was mashed into one corner and there was NO sauce!!! The salad was basic as was the dressing...nothing wrong the salad or dressing but nothing special either. I have eaten here before and had the pizza which is decent. Too bad on the delivery and Calzone.

Yes, there are drawbacks to this pizza joint namely the lack of parking. The pizza is a bit expensive but very good! Reading thru the other reviews, I have also noticed that the pizza can be a little soggy by the time you get it home~I would recommend eating it there if a table is available. The people watching is also very good in this area.

If you like NY style pizza, this place is it. Since marrying a New Yorker, I've been dragged to thousands of pizza places throughout Southern California. He's finally very happy with this place. I would have to agree with him; this place is pretty good. It's quite a distance for us (almost an hour with no traffic), but it's worth the drive.

The pizza slices (one topping) at Village Pizzeria are only $2.25. A good deal.

They taste OK. But they are really thin -- not really my preference.

I probably won't be coming back here unless I'm in the area and I'm really hungry for pizza.

I love pizza (doesn't everyone). For real New York pizza, this is the spot. Nice thin crust, marvelous tomato sauce, good stuff. Of all the spots, this is my number two fave behind Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock. Nice folks too.

After eating their thin crust pizza I could not eat any other pizza. The pizza was so good and perfectly constructed. The amount of toppings was perfect. The thin crust was not soggy despite the toppings. I really love their homemade meatballs. THe price is perfect too.

I have been eating here for years...this is by far the best pizza I have found since moving to LA from NYC 6 years ago. Just follow the simple rules of ordering to go and actually taking your food to go and when wanting to eat in the restaurant sit at a table and allow the waiter/waitress to serve you and you'll be fine!!!

The crust is thin and abit on the wet side, but thats just like NYC pizza which is quickly thrown into the oven and at the customer. The clam and garlic pizza here is worthy of a try on a afternoon you feel like strolling and people watching Larchmont which I pair with their novelty sodas. I personally like it better when I throw this pizza in the oven at home to crisp though.

I have yet to find the best place for pizza in LA. My personal favorite pizzaria uno is in Chicago and compare to that standard.

everyone is raving, but I have to agree with the few that are less impressed for the most part. perhaps because of the high volume production, it doesnt seem that the oven temperatures are close to ideal...in fact may be over 100 degrees too low. this is average NY pizza (which is a compliment). there are plenty of crappy to middle of the road pies in Manhattan, and these are better than that. the sauce is nicely understated and the cheese is certainly of high quality, but I can't say that this compares to New York or New Jersey when it comes to care or production quality. With that said, it is enjoyable pizza especially when ordering by the slice since it gets cooked twice. The service is as good as it can be under the circumstances, and the people watching in that area is tops. It's worth a try...but I'm not rushing back every week

New Yorkers who say Village Pizzeria serves pizza comparable to New York pizza have been here too long or the "shmutz" in the air is beginning to decay their brain cells. There is no comparison. New York pizza is still the champion source of pizza. If they said Village Pizzeria was the best in Los Angeles, then I could take them seriously...even though I don't agree. The reviewer who made a comment about how soggy Village Pizzeria pizza knows his pizza. I too am in doubt as to Village Pizzeria's dedication to serving great pizza is. Cause we too complained and the reaction was always apathetic and typically bored with our complaints. But as a hint: put it into the oven for how long it takes to crisp to your taste. Village Pizzeria's delivery is usually slow, so order with that in mind. AND: Someone please tell me where to get the best pizza in town.

Everytime we drove down Larchmont, we noticed Village Pizzeria was ALWAYS crowded. So, one day we decided to give it a try and sure enough, we figured out why...Their pizza is sooooooo good and comes out fairly quickly. The service is great and the people are friendly. We definitely recommend this pizza place to anyone!

In over 30 years of exhaustive searching, I've found three places that served pizza that would pass muster in NY. The only one that is still open is this one. (We're still mourning the loss of Vito's on Vermont.) Always order it by the slice, and remember that when the pizza is quality, there's no need to overload it with toppings. A plain cheese slice here is heaven. Friendly service, bargain prices, lovely outdoor tables.

The best in town, bar none.

PROS: Actual, authentic, delicious NY pizza. At last!
CONS: Too small a delivery radius!

I've never come here to write a review but I felt the need to inform anyone who moved from NY and thought their pizza eating days were over that there's no need to worry. Village Pizzeria will save you. While it's not as perfect as Johns or Lombardis (what is?) it can easily compete with other NY pizza places. It's REALLY REALLY good. And the delivery is fast.

This is the best pizza that I have had in the greater Los Angeles area. If you are ever near Larchmont Blvd. and just want a slice of pizza you definitely need to stop in. There Village Special pizza is great, but you need to minus the anchoives, unless you're into that kind of thing.

I had heard about this place by word of mouth. I wasn't expecting too much, but was hoping for some good pizza. Was I in for a pleasant surprise. So far it's the best authentice NY style pizza I have had in LA. The crust is perfect; thin, crispy and pliable. Cheese and sauce was excellent. A perfect 10 for the pizza. Salad was Ok, and garlic rolls were pretty dull and tasteless.

My favorite pizza this side of the Hudson River!! This is the best New York Pizza you can get out here in Ca. The portions are huge the owners could not be nicer, it a regular site to see them schmooze with the clientele or simply welcome you to thier restaurant. Larchmont is the perfect location for this place you can get a slice of pizza and a slice of a real "old neighborhood" feel. I only wish they would deliver a little farther.

Being a true New yorker, my search for New York style pizza has come to an end. Village Pizzeria offers the real deal . . . thin crust, good sauce, great cheese!!! The staff is fantastic and the owners are always there with there NY personality to make you feel at home. Parking is hastle but worth it. Sports and music fans will love the decor.

If you are a New Yorker and you to are searching for a piece of home, look no further and go to Village.

i am in search for the best pizza place in town. after being sick of corporate own pizzerias and being cheated out of quality ingredients, i decided to start this quest.

first stop, village pizzeria.

great prices! i ordered a slice of neopolitan (thin slice) and their thick crust pizza.

although the crust is a tad undercooked for the thick crust, the pizza is still really good. the service is prompt . the ambiance is pretty chill. its a great place to kick back after a morning of shopping at the farmer's market a few stores up.

they have free delivery. i will definitely be going back.

I grew up in New York City -- Home of THE BEST Pizza in the world -- and I am here to tell you -- the Village Pizzaria is hands-down THE BEST *Real New York* Pizza in Southern California!!
Having lived in So. Cal and sampled many pizzas here -- some very very good -- there is no pizza I've ever had in So. Cal. that is as New York as the Village Pizzaria. What's more, the service is impeccable, prices are reasonable and I have NEVER had even 1 order confused by anyone. Guess this all comes from the Owner being a good old Queens boy! :) My only wish is that they were bigger and closer to my house so I could have my pies delivered. THE BEST!!

What you order isn't always what you get. Despite a relatively easy order half the pizza slices arrived with the wrong toppings (3/6). Service was also slow and the pizza not actually that great. The position of pizza-maker was posted at the door. Maybe we got the stand-in. Allied to the difficult parking overall experience was fair to middlin'.

Consistently the best good, hot, fresh, pizza in Los Angeles. And it's great leftover and cold.

Of course it's crowded, it's excellent. And I'm glad it's not expanding to meet demand, as that might mean Steve would need to cut corners. I'll gladly wait for a table and take in the stellar view of Larchmont's pedestrian traffic, which is, er, arousing. The crust and cheese are the best.

If you're lucky, Owner Steve will be hanging around outside watching the wait staff run around like crazy. Excellent pizza but be patient, usually only 1 or 2 people are on hand to serve.

This is one, if not THE best NYC style pizza I've had. Only downside is that is does get very crowded during the lunch hour, (best time to go is after 3pm or weekends) which makes it virtually impossible to get a table or parking...but it's worth it!

the Eggplant parm sandwich is the best I've found in L.A. Virtually stuffed to the gills and oily and with good sauce. Pizza's pretty darn tasty too.
