Great food and ambiance. My husband and I sat at the communal table but still managed to have a nice quiet dinner together. We ordered a few small Vietnamese dishes and they were all very delicious.

Tamarine: great food/poor service

Loved the food, but the attitude from the waiter up to the managers were poor in my opinion and impacted our enjoyment of the restaurant. I think this place has become complacent as they have been sold out for too long. Ah such is life.

The restaurant was strongly recommended by friends for a business meeting. The food was delicious and even though the restaurant was full it was still easy to talk. I'd highly recommend for a great night.
PROS: Fantastic food and quiet to talk

Tamarine is definitely the place to go when you want to treat yourself (or your friends) to a great meal in a lovely setting. Yummy calamari appetizer with great sauce, excellent shaking beef. I encourage you to try their Lychee Martinis -- the best around.

Beautiful Setting, Delicious Dining
by Dey R.
For any special occasion, Tamarine Restaurant fits the bill. The food is excellent and the waitstaff pleasant and courteous. Eat wonderful, fresh pan-asian cuisine in an artistic atmosphere, with enough variety to satisfy even my picky eight-year-old.

Fantastic atmosphere! Excellent food. TONS of vegetarian options. Fairly easy to just walk in and get seated (they have tall tables by the bar for that purpose). Fun & tasty drinks. just a different eating experience in Palo Alto. A bit pricy - but worth it!

This place doesnt look like it would be the happening foodie place it is from the outside. I had heard good things, but never thought what could see from outside was appealing. Recently went there with two work colleagues and I have to agree 100% with Lisas review. Sit at the bar, relax and ask Joe what to order. You wont be disappointed, except potentially by the price. Not exactly cheap and for the most part worth it. Unusual fusion interpretations of Southeast Asian dishes. The place has a nice buzz going too. Not a bad place to hang out by yourself. And as a big plus its not deafening loud like many other trendy restaurants these days.
PROS: Good food, nice crowd and not too loud
CONS: a bit over priced, but hey its downtown Palo Alto after all

This upscale asian cuisine is excellent -- the menu changes with the seasons and is always exquisitely prepared. It's not a great place for an inexpensive meal but it's worth it. I prefer to sit at the bar -- it's got more energy than the quiet, more formal dining room. Joe the bartender is excellent -- he'll greet you with a smile and a solid set of recommendations on both the wine and food menus. Enjoy.
