The atmosphere is great, not noisy. The baristas go out of their way to explain some drinks to me and make great suggestions. Get's a little crowded so there are times I can't find a seat, but it's an overall good coffee shop

Ratings_icons Cafe with personality

A haven for studying college students, the living room's decor is a mishmash of different pieces of furniture tossed together to make it feel like someone's living room. Beware, some chairs are not very comfortable. Great blended drinks but sometimes the cakes don't taste very fresh. Good atmosphere with plenty of outdoor seating. This place gets very busy around finals time.

Ratings_icons Bigger and better

The Living Room in Hillcrest is much larger than its la jolla counterpart. The crowd is more interesting. The coffee is always good and so is the food.

Ratings_icons Coffee and a cool breeze

Vanessa M. | insider Insider | Rank: 23,823

The Living Room is towards the end of the public side of Rosecrans. It's quiet even on the front porch with great coffee, great music and a nice, cool breeze. Patrons will be enjoying a quiet conversation, the morning paper or just people watching.

Ratings_icons Great place to study

Renee M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,219

This place always has a good amount of people and with good reason. Its the retreat for students. Its a great atmosphere to just go and meet with people or to go and have a study group or just go by yourself and read a book. They have outside tables, as well as inside tables and comfortable chairs. They have internet hookups for those carrying their laptops and they not only serve coffee, but sandwiches, baked goods and snacks. A great place for a student to hang out and get their work done.
