Several people have recommended going to Best Tile for the greatest selection of tiles and prices. And so I listened when it came time to redo my bathroom floors. Never having done it before I did a little research before going to the stores, checking on quality, different ratings, which is best for wet floors, etc. So I decided to go to a store that specializes in these products and not some big box like Home Depot so I can get seek advice and knowledge from the experts. WOW, this place is run by a bunch of kids who know nothing about tile, nor do they take the business seriously. I'm sure they're the owner's kid who think they can do and say whatever they want.
After walking thru their showroom, I asked the woman (and I use that term loosely) if someone could answer some of my questions. She looked at me puzzled, as if I asked it in a different language. She looks around at the 3 boys next to her, all of them fooling around as if they're at the arcades. They all heard me ask for help yet none of them offer any. She reluctantly replies "what kind of questions". So I ask what the difference between ceramic and porcelain tiles, and it's textures and which of their tile has a PEI rating suitable for bath floors. All 4 kids haven't a single clue, one even has the audacity to lie and say they don't come with ratings. I called him on his lie to which he admitted the tiles do have ratings but Best Tile doesn't know what they are.
Now it's not a crime not knowing specifics like that, especially when you're not trained. However when you represent yourself as a bonified tile shop, it may come in handy to know your product. And here's a thought: maybe it's a good business practice to find the answer instead of brushing a customer off.
I will never shop at Best Tile again, nor will I recommend it to anyone else. In fact, the lack of knowledgeable adults is probably giving their next door neighbor tons of business, which is where I went right after being blown away by Best Tile's lack of professionalism. To the owners: fire those kids and get some real adults working there.
