Yeah somethimes the customer service is not all that amazing but if you are looking for cheaper books and BETTER BUYBACKS then Ross Books is definitely the way to go. Last semester my most expensive book was bought at the Grossmont College Store and I got 30 bucks back from it... and my other book was purchased at the Ross Bookstore and I got more back from that and it was 30 dollars cheaper. I think this semester the people who are there are very helpful and not inconsiderate at all. I have went in twice already and no one has been rude to me.

I've been to Ross several times. A middle-aged gentleman (presumably the owner) is very rude and condescending. When he's not helping customers, he's busy holding up the counter with his belly, and supervising the employees.

Otherwise, the rest of the staff are very friendly and helpful. They will direct you a specific book you are looking for, and if they don't have one in stock, they will suggest other stores.

Don't sell your books there, go to http://half.com because you can price them for whatever you want, and you don't have to worry about being denied, or offered chump change for your books.
Sure, Grossmont and Cuyamaca may not use a particular book anymore, but think of all the other schools across the nation that still might. That's why I use Half, if possible.

Maybe the students who shop @ Ross should try no be a little less high when they go in there. If they did that, then the staff might not be so gruff toward them and actually take time to explain and answer questions. If they wernt all asking the same dumb questions over and over with the answer right in front of them, then staff members are likely to become more courteous to them. Students: be smarter!

I have been going to Ross for about 4 years now, not because it is good, but because there aren't really any other options. If there were then Ross wouldn't be in business. They are absolutely horrible to their customers. It doesn't matter if you are buying or selling, they are still going to ignore you and just be outwardly rude. I know exactly who the last post is talking about; that guy has worked there since I've been going there and not once has he in anyway been a semi-nice person. The rest of them aren't much better but he is just horrible. If you can get your books online, do it, because this place doesn't deserve customers.

I've attended Cuyamaca and Grossmont college for nearly 3 years now. While attending I've bought books from students, searched varies sites like Amazon, half, com, and other books buying sites and out of all of these Ross Books is the worst. I will pay the extra 5 dollars that it takes for shipping to get it off a site and not have to haggle with the owners because the book I bought for $160 I got $40 for and it was in PREFECT condition. Every time I go in there its like going to the DMV, but the DMV is nicer more respectful and will actually help you! I DO NOT suggest shopping at Ross Books, the owners are just rude beyond all means, when you ask for help with a book they roll they're eyes like its a huge hassle. From a personal experiance of the owner literally laughing in my face, please do not shop here. Save yourself money and time and go some where better.

The employee greeted me with a frown and his head in his palm on the desk. i needed a refund, i couldn't afford my classes after i bought this book. he read me the back of the receipt, which stated that if i had my proof of no admittance to class, and the original receipt, i could get a full refund. I had both. He told me he wont give me a refund because i BOUGHT the book after the end of the first 2 weeks of school. I had opened the book literally once 3 hours ago. I would suggest against this crappy store. this 200 page book retails for $130. they sold it to me for $110. it is full of highlighter marks.

The store is only about a minute away from Grossmont and you will save a considerable amount of money going there rather than buying from the school, so you got nothing to lose (not even gas money). Unfortunately, they don't sell books for Cuyamaca college classes that aren't also at Grossmont which was a disappointment because I'm taking some online classes at Cuyamaca. The staff is very friendly and helpful so if you are a Grossmont student or are taking classes at Cuyamaca that are also offered at Grossmont, this is the place to go.

As a college student we're often faced with decisions, books or food? Even though I am a state student I often find my books at Ross for cheaper than even KB. Organized store, friendly staff, affordable pricing, easy parking, one qualm: they didn't check my ID even though my credit card clearly states: SEE ID. BIG Security hazard.

PROS: Organized store, friendly staff, affordable pricing, easy parking
CONS: check ID!!!!

The store is laid out easy so you can find the text books you need for each class. The text books are much cheaper than you'll find at Grossmont College so it's best to buy them here. Ross Books offers sell back too during certain times of the year. Unfortunately, if the book will not be used the next semester or a different version is coming out, they will not buy it from you.

If you're a student at Grossmont College than this is where you should be buying your text books. A small store but they have all the books and selection you need. A friendly staff member is always there to assist you. The text books are typically $20 or more cheaper than the bookstore.

Check this place out before buying directly from the school. You won't be sorry.
