by Debbie V. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,473

my in law introduce us to this place a little while ago, and we have been back since. The food is absolutely great. The place is fun to be in for casual food. The price is very reasonable.

Wonderful and Family Friendly

by Jorge M. | insider Insider | Rank: 21,053

Our family is in absolute LOVE with Luigi's. Everything we have ordered from Pizza to Pasta and Salad to their homemade Tiramisu is positively divine. The staff is very friendly and always full of smiles. I highly recommend Luigi's to everyone and anyone who is just looking to have awesome food and good beer in a laid back homey atmosphere. Bring the whole family!!

All Time Favorite Restaurant

by theitalianstallion

Take it from a regular... this place is great. I eat there every Saturday without fail, and though I get the same thing every time... I've been eating there for over 20 years, so I have tried everything, and it's all great. Over time I've found my favorite... Tortellini Fiorentine. I highly recommend it!

Pros: Great food and great service for a great price.

Cons: NONE!

EXCELLENT FOOD EXCELLENT SERVICE EXCELLENT PLACE!

by ncmagic17

LUIGIS D ITALIA IS THE ONLY PLACE IN CALIFORNIA WHERE YOU WILL FIND GREAT TASTING FOOD AT A FAIR PRICE. ONCE YOU SMELL THE SCENTS OF THE GREAT FOOD, IT WILL HAVE YOU DROOLING AND YOU CANT WAIT TO GET YOUR FOOD, IT IS THAT GOOD! THE PIZZA IS GREAT, TRY IT AND YOU WILL BE COMING FOR MORE ATLEAST ONCE A WEEK! IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, THEN YOU DO NOT KNOW ITALIAN PIZZA, THATS FOR SURE (THAT IS NOT AN OPINION, IT IS A FACT!)! ONE OF THE MANY GREAT TASTING DISHES ON THE MENU, IS THE TORTELLINI D' ANGELO. THE TORTELLINI D' ANGELO IS, TORTELLINI (MEAT STUFFED PASTA) WITH AN AMAZING TASTING TOMATO CREAM SAUCE WITH CHICKEN AND MUSHROOMS. IT IS DELICIOUS! WELL, MAKE SURE YOU STOP BY AND TRY THIS PLACE OUT, BECAUSE IF YOU HAVEN'T EATEN HERE, YOU SURE ARE MISSING SOMETHING AUTHENTIC! BY THE WAY, THE DESSERTS ARE ALL HOMEMADE!

Pros: GREAT FOOD, ALWAYS THE BEST! ITALY IS HERE!

Cons: NOTHING BAD ABOUT THIS PLACE, 100% GREAT

Avoid at all costs

by extatic

The place claims to have NEW YORK STYLE PIZZA. All i have to say about that is HAH!!!
The "Hot Bread" was horrible, and the calamari was like chewing gum and half the place was full of legs and i think they actually gave me a whole squid. When our main course had arrived
we let it cool for a bit because it was very hot.. i guess they like overcooking things at this place.
My chicken parm was horrible but i was starving so i had forced myself to finish about half of it. My wife ordered the Chicken Picata and that was also horrible, She gave me a little piece of hers as we tasted each others plates and i nearly s p i t it across the room it tasted so bad.. It was supposed to be chicken in white wine sauce and lemon.. the sauce was dark brown... i guess they must have burned it or something who knows at this place, it was LOADED with garlic. Trust me the food is horrible at this place. A couple next to us ordered a pizza and they barley ate two slices.. When the waitress asked us if we wanted to Box up our remaining meals.. which was almost what was placed infront of us to begin with, we both laughed and said NO!!!
How can you claim to be an "Italian resturant with New York style pizza" when you have mexicans who just crossed the border cooking. We should have left right away when we saw them cooking.

Trust me i am from Brooklyn, NY and this place has food nothing like it, you would be better eating at McDonalds then this place.

Pros: Soda tasted normal

Cons: Food is Horrible

Highly recommended, especially for the value.

by xzfr

Luigi's is the type of family-owned place that I'm more than happy to patronize, to the point that when I'm hungry for Italian it's tough to go anywhere else. The quality of the ingredients and the recipes are all top-notch, with rich, complex flavors. The goings on in the kitchen are front-and-center when you walk through the front door and they clearly put a great deal of care into the quality of the food. One quibble is that the menu isn't very diverse -- it's more the American perception of Italian food (lots of tomato and cream sauces) rather than an actual general representation of Italian food, so don't go looking for polenta or risotto. Also, the bread and salad that they serve as starters are instantly forgetable.

Pros: Tough to get a bad meal there.

Cons: The decor is a bit sterile.

Growing Old together...

by feeenux

I've eaten at Luigi's since he was located at the other location. The food is always the BEST, the service is good, the prices are fair, and I start thinking about when I will come next before I finish the current meal. It is THAT good...the spaghetti sauce is made right there and D&%$ it is da BOMB!

It's a bit of a drive from the south or the north, but gas up and go. We love it!

Pros: sauce, pizza, ciappino

Cons: area is not the best

good pizza

by jills0182

This place has the best pizza I have been able to find so far in Southern California. Always keeping an eye out for good pizza. Since I grew up only and hour and a half from Chicago, I have high expectations. This place has good pizza at a good value.

Pros: Pizza, Casual, Not Busy

Cons: Small Place

Luigis, We love you.

by nuclearchicken

I've been going to Luigi's since they opened, and everyone I've told about Luigo's soon agrees it's the best Italian Restauant in OC. Dominic was the best (God rest his soul), and made everyone feel at home. EVERYthing on the menu is great, and I've tried it all. When we moved to Seattle, they gave us a bottle of wine to take with us, and everytime I fly back to OC I go to Luigi's. simply put, there's nothing like it up north...or anywhere!

Pros: Wonderful Food, Reasonable Prices, Relaxed Atmosphere

Cons: Crowds

by behrens rossberg

If you want to eat at an excellent North East (New York City) style Italian restaurant this is the best one I've found in Southern Ca. Over the years I think I have had every pasta dish offered. They are all excellent. This is nor a fancy place but the food is about as good as it gets. In the kitchen is Luigi himself. He takes great pride in everything he creates. Pasta dishes cost between $9.00 to 15.00. Steak, fish & pizza are also on the menu. There is ample parking in back.

Pros: Inexpensive, Good Parking, Great Food

Former Customer

by sabela5

My waiter never smiled and barely made eye contact. Made us feel as if we were bothering him. Service was EXTREMELY poor. They apparently are unaware that no matter how good the food, customers won't come back without good service. The mgr could care less!!

Pros: good food

Cons: , no refills, manager didn't care
