I recently visited the Maritime Museum in Santa Barbara and was pleasantly surprised. They had a great art exhibit by Hans Skalagard up and interesting movies playing in the theater. Next time I'll plan on more time to explore some of the history and definitely bring the kids. Admission is inexpensive and I can't wait for the surfing exhibit to open in January. My only complaint is that the sport fishing exhibit i heard about was closed for upgrading.

The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum is not one of the best museums in the Santa Barbara. I recently took some out of town guests there and we were all disappointed. They do have a neat feature, where you can virtual fish. It allows you test your skills and see how strong you are trying to catch several sport fish. There is old diving equipment displayed. Inexpensive admission fee.
