1 Stars: Taqueria La Cumbre is crap now (by RunJane R.)

La Cumbre has had a significant downhill slide. What used to be a great place with delicious food prepared with care and pride, has become sloppy and careless, with attitude. Tough, gristly carne asada (when the order was for carnitas) was inedible. They've lost an over-30-years customer. Blech.

1 Stars: Never. Going. Back. (by RunJaneRun)

La Cumbre has been one of my favorite places for over 30 years. Hadn't been there in awhile, but stopped last night for a burrito to take home. First there was a misunderstanding about the cost, which got cleared up, but the outcome was a bit frustrating and could have been handled with more grace and good cheer. But imagine my surprise, and disappointment, when I opened my burrito at home and discovered that although I had ordered carnitas, what I had been sold was carne asada, tough, grisseley, and I don't eat beef. Might as well have tossed $7 onto the sidewalk. Couldn't eat it, had granola for dinner, after having my heart set on carnitas all afternoon. They hadn't been particularly busy - they just were operating on auto-pilot. Not my favorite anymore, and they've lost a good customer.

5 Stars: I put that Burrito before you: (by Buzz Hazard L.)

READ IT IF YOU CAN. Taqueria la Cumbre, when I was feeling oh so lonesome, wandering around the city of San Francisco by myself on a weekday afternoon, despairing, starving, and unable to conceive of my true home on the East Coast, you provided me with a pillow of meat and cheese wrapped in a delicious flour tortilla, and for that, well, I know not how to thank ye.

4 Stars: The Taco Mountain (by shadrack m.)

La Cumbre Taqueria or 'The Taco Mountain' (as I've translated) is a fine fine taco-munching establishment. Nice service and tasty treats. HMMmmmmmmmm

4 Stars: A great burrito for cheap (by John W.)

La Cumbre has weathered the years on Valencia Street, witnessing whole neighborhoods appear and disappear around it, all that time serving a fine burrito. The atmosphere inside is quiet, with plenty of seating for groups or just by yourself. As far as the food, burritos are the trusty warhorses round here. Check out the hot sauce they serve also.

5 Stars: Delcicious tacos! (by deluxewendy)

Their super vegetarian tacos are delicious. Just the right combination of gaucamole, sour cream, melted cheese, soft fresh tortilla, rice, beans and salsa. The ingredients are very fresh, and everything is cheap.

5 Stars: El Mejor (by CherryBomb)

This place should have won best burrito....I"ve never been disappointed with their super grilled chicken burrito. The meat is superior...none of that knuckely, gristley stuff you can get in other places. The overall burrito is juicy and savory. My only complaint is, they should get better chips! Theirs are too thin and often stale.

4 Stars: Best Steak Burrito in Town (by EricRorer)

There was a time when this taqueria was the most popular in San Francisco. There wasn't much competition back then, though, and now this old standard falls a little flat in comparison to La Taqueria, Taqueria Cancun and Pancho Villa. Still, though, you won't find a better carne asada burrito at those up-and-comers. La Cumbre's seasoning of the meat and the special house salsa make a glorious combination, unmatched anywhere else in the Bay Area.
