The University of California Recreation Center at UCSB is primarily used by college students who get their workouts here. Memberships are also available to the public and is a good alternative to driving downtown to Santa Barbara. The facility is huge and has lots of equipment. It does get crowded though, (20,000 possible student members) so going at "off hours" might be a good answer. There are several racquetball courts, a couple of basketball courts, a huge lap pool and a 17 foot deep diving pool. Prices run about $25 a month for membership, which is quite decent.

Large locker rooms also.

Campus parking across in a large lot is plentiful, but you have to pay for that too.

PROS: huge facility.
CONS: Have to pay for parking, gym is crowded at peak hours.

This gym is great if you are a student and good if you are not one. They have 2 places where you can do weights or cardio, and up to 9 basketball courts. Also have a large pool, although it is often full of childern. $8 dollar charge to get in if you are not a student, the machines are pretty new and standard.
