Sorry - No go on this place

by DanielG2009

The place was a great restaurant and bar to visit. New owners are homophobic and running us out of the place, including the great staff of bartenders and waiters. Too bad this historic place will be no more. The owner should at least drop the name so as to bring it no shame. Instead of an "H" bar it has become a hookah bar. LA and its following will miss this place. DG

Pros: Great Staff

Cons: Gay Phobia

Exceeded my expectations... and then some!

by abraz

Numbers is the perfect embodiment of the West Hollywood dining experience. The decor is modern yet retro - a classic dinner club taken to present-day. There is a bar and a dj, but not over-powering - a very subtle and enjoyable listening experience. Good people watching goes without saying. We had Salmon medallions with homemade gourmet sauces (they are known for their original sauces), a filet mignon that rivals Mortons, Oysters (flown in) that surpass Ocean Ave's in SM, Sea Bass, Halibut - the list goes on. Their fries are better than McDonalds... They specialize in Cosmos (they have a huge drink menu). We threw caution to the wind and just kept chewing and swallowing all the way through dessert. All we knew is that we had to eventually muster up enough strength to make it back to the valet - and we did. Make sure to ask for 'Maz' - if this unique and interesting owner is there, he will surely steer you in the right direction with your order.... I almost enjoyed his run-through of the choices as much as the meals themselves. He is the quintessential restaurateur - he cares and it shows. Come here if you want a feast, or even if you just want to have drinks and take in the scene (being on the 2nd floor yields fine and expansive views).

Pros: atmosphere, food quality, staff

Nice, lovley crowd, friendly bartenders, great music.

by andeyv14

Had a great time here after work yesterday with some friends. This place is really cool. I liked sitting at the booth, which is very comfy. I had a sip of a friend's Peach cosmo and let me tell ya, it was good. Shoestring fries were great. They had two flat screen tv?s by the bar that were playing clips of classic movies.

Great place to drink and have a good time.

by evfernand1

This is my new favorite bar. For some reason, it reminds me of a place in New York., with it's chic furniture, dimmish lighting and good atmosphere, and a resident DJ.

Good times

by amorgan792

Beautiful restaurant, very modern but still a comfortable dining experience. Everything from the food (fantastic), to the cocktails, to the service (excellent) makes this an easy return for me. You will drop some cash on this place, but its worth every cent. The music is always good and nobody bothers you.

Not the place it once was

by mauibabyg

Went in for dinner and we were greeted by a lady hostess HOW RARE. We enjoyed the food but we were very surprised by the atmosphere and how dead the restaurant was. The food usually is somewhat good but has also gone downhill. There were no nice looking men any more and we felt totally out of place. My partner and myself as well as any of the other patrons that once visited here are NO LONGER WELCOME. The music is so loud and is being played by some kid you can not even hear yourselves talk even if you were sitting on each other. Even though straight people are welcome here you are treated even better if you are a woman, The owner only paid attention to them and even bought them several shots and drinks when we spent over $180.00 and he did not even acknowledge us. So if you are a woman this is the place to go for FREE drinks and be flirtatiously harassed by the owner in return for the free drinks. Sad to see this place has gone downhill. What was he thinking!!?!!!

Pros: Nice looking bartenders and we love the manager

Cons: Gone down hill since they are going STRAIGHT

Rare gem of a lounge

by smsmeyer710

This place is on my top 5 list. I've been here a least 3 times. The service is spectacular and every time I go it gets better and better. The interior is calm and modern. Each table felt private. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

What happened to a great place?

by Whathappened

I have been going to Numbers for almost 30 years. My last visit, on May 29, was a horror. The music was the typical "club muzak" you hear in every gay bar in Weho. When we confronted the DJ and asked if he could play some Cole Porter or something classic, he responded, "Who's Cole Porter?" He substituted with some Dean Martiin tunes, but they were played at such high decibels that even the waiter said he couldn't hear us give our order.

The place has changed for the worse. I will not be back.

Pros: Nice waiters

Cons: Music, attitude, women

Great food and atmosphere

by JeffC1

I recently went to the "new" numbers and had a great time. The staff is super friendly and, as always, very hot. It has the feel of a neighborhood bar, and has a lot of class. The food is always great. I highly recommend a visit.

Pros: Friendly, attractive, and knowledgable staff

The only gay place in WEHO with class.

by JuniorBleach

I had been to the old Numbers on Sunset and I was very upset to see it go, but the new place is fabulous and oh-so-close to Hyde and all the paparazzi, so if you like that it's good too. The food and service is and has always been firts-rate especially the endice and mushroom salad. Numbers has a rep for being a hustler hangout, and maybe it is, but it's not at all sleazy by any stretch of the word, and it has far more class than the joints a few blocks west. I think it's better than The Abbey which I find to be cliquish and played out -- Numbers has the kind of style that will never fade away. If you are visiting the LA area, and you are gay, human, fun loving and you like good food, Numbers would be my choice.

Pros: Food, service and atmopshere are great.

Cons: Guys shouldn't wear tank tops in a place like this.

"not so happy" happy hour

by beulla

pleasant atmosphere, (after an extensive remodel), food is adequate, however, the happy hour, (or so-called happy hour) leaves much to be desires!! It's a shame, because it could be much more succesfull with the right P.R. person behind it........If your going to charge "Abbey" cocktail prices, then their should be at least a decent crowd of people in the place, or why bother...........Rots-A-Ruck!!!

Numbers Restaurant

by thenightisyoung

This place is GREAT! We went there for a friends birthday and the staff was so nice, the food was Great, and not to mention the waiters weren't bad to look at! The night we were there they had a DJ with an incredibly hot guy dancing on the bar. Meanwhile the cute bartenders were serving drinks without there shirts on! Can't wait to go back for another incredibly fun and delicious night!

Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere

Cons: None

Excellent dinner served by handsome friendly servers

by Bill951

I decided to have dinner at Numbers after a business meeting in Torrance and a cocktail down the street at another club. The greeting at the maitre'd station was warm, and throughout the evening everyone was friendly and solicitous making sure I was satisfied with the excellent meal, the wine. I left after dinner to meet a friend, but came back for a cocktail because of the positive atmosphere. I hope the club returns to the high level of patronage it once had, because the staff certainly wants the clientele to enjoy the time there. It's a distance for me to patronize, but I certainly will do it again.

The hottest boys in town!

by rachelsmintz

Ok so what if they'll never look twice at me because I'm female. They're still a barrel of laughs and always make me feel like a queen (not the drag kind either). My girls and I love coming to Digits to oogle at the luscious men and gossip about what they might be like in the sack if they were straight. Regardless the drinks are awesome. I don't know why everyone keeps bringing up wine...Digits is a place to party, not go to sleep!! Well, even if you aren't in the mood to party, there are romantic and classy tables next to floor to ceiling windows with views of hollywood for you romantic types. Great dining with friends as the food is A+ (the chef used to be ronald regan's chef!! Im a fan of the food even if I'm not a fan of the ex pres). Seriously, you gotta check this place out...if for no other reason than to people watch. I think I'll make a visit tonight!

Pros: People watching, atmosphere, romantic, classy, friendly service and tons of fun

Cons: there are cons here?

Pros: FOOD, met the Chef - very nice guy, portions

Cons: Parking, in a strip mall setting

by chaselangford

The best gay restaurant in town bar none! The food is always perfect. Love the Turnados (sp). Fun scene there too, every table has a story!
Wine list is limited & weak....the cocktails are excellent.

Pros: The food is always GREAT, fun scene

Cons: weak wine list so have a martini instead!

Not there anymore

by tlarsons

The new owners ran the place into the ground and the Chef who had been there for 20 years moved down the street to ELEVEN cause he never got paid. They lost their new Chef for the same reason. If new owners take it over it may come back but for now there is no reason to go there.

Pros: n/a

Cons: you name it

Be Prepared!!!!

by sickofweho

This is not a bad bar or restaurant, however it hasn't managed to shake it's 20 yr old history of being a place for "mature men" to find / pay for their company for the evening. I stopped by with a couple friends. We were chattin at our table and within an hours time 3 older gentlemen came by our table and basically propositioned us. Very uncomfortable. Its also a little bizarre, as any attractive, younger guys are standing in lines inside/outside the bar... I'm assuming putting themselves "on display" for any buyers! We watched a very attractive younger guy proceed with an older guy to his car (assumingly) only to return 15mins later. I think we can guess how THAT transaction went down! LOL

Cons: VERY Aggressive Older Men

Cool spot

by littlemiss_e

I dined here the other night and was quite surprised at how tastey the food was. It's a small, cozy place which reminded me of a few places I discovered in NY. The service was absolutely awesome!!! Our waiter checked on us several times and was quite pleasant. I am not gay so if the gay thing bothers you--this is not the place for you. Not much of a mixed crowd since I was the only female in the place. Definitey would hit it up again for dinner--since its in a central location to hollywood bars and nightlife.

Pros: service, dinner

Cons: parking

The best steakhouse in West Hollywood !!!!

by charles55555

Who would have thought that in the heart of West Hollywood on Santa Monica blvd you would find this gem of a place. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by a very friendly maitre'd who I heard is also the owner. The place definitely has a flare about it, it reminds me of a place in New York a crowded bar scene dark lighting black booths over looking the bar...very cool vibe. Wasn't sure what to expect on the food side but we were blown away by the steaks. The proportions are a good size just like you would expect to find a steakhouse. Loved it! We even stayed at the bar afterwards and had a great time with the bar crowd, very eclectic from young to not so young to gay to straight and anything in between...Overall a fun evening.

Pros: ambience, Service, Food

Cons: small martini glasses

Now this is a bar!

by charles55555

I have heard about the reputation of this place so was a bit hestitant to go with some buddies but what a surprise. It was nothing like I imagined, it was very cool... the amtosphere was great. Excellent bar, amazing mix of music, interesting crowd. You could actually enjoy yourself and have a couple of rounds of cocktails for the price of just one down the street in those other places on the blvd. I heard that the owner is putting in a lounge area with couches, that will make it even more appealing can't wait. The only place in on Santa Monica Blvd where you can kick it all nite have great drinks and great conversations with your friends and people around you, very friendly....

Pros: Music, prices, Location

Always a pleasant experience. A sleek black & mirrored room with walls of glass facing the street. Most of the waiters have worked here a long time and are attentive and personable. Great food, always well prepared (my favorite--Salmon) and also enjoy the steak tartare appetizer! Wouldn't mind larger cocktails however. A lively bar crowd always adds to the ambiance. One of the (very) few predominantly gay restaurants left!

Pros: Ambiance, Waiters, Food

Cons: small cocktails

Very cool !!

by zaxx

I went to Numbers Bar with a group of friends after work on Friday and we ended up staying most of the night. Between having a great time at the bar listening to a wide range of music mix yet still being able to carry on a conversation, to have a great steak for dinner, it;s no wonder people have been raving about this place. It reminded me a New York lounge with a mix of all sort of people. It was one of the best meals I have had in LA for a long time. We had the chance to meet the new owner, very personable and full of great ideas for the place. Overall a great place to hang out for the evening, thank god we have aplace like this in West Hollywood getting tired of the cramped thumping bar scene that is going on out there.

Pros: Music, Atmosphere, Drinks & Food

Surprise! This small, 20 table restaurant has the best Filet and Liver you can get in L.A. All dinners come with starch and veggies, so share a salad beforehand because you wont leave hungry. Multiple nominee of WeHo awards, (residents pick their favorite places in and around Los Angeles) has won Bartender and Waiter of the year before, and are consistently nomoinated for Best Restaurant. Valet parking underneath!

Pros: quality of food, patio with dining and, parking

Cons: older clientele

Food is still A++

by gerryjim

I ate here again and found the sole stuffed with salmon to be so good. The vegetables were equally good with plenty of them. My partner and a friend ordered the sole as well and loved it too. The service was a little slow this night, but the waiter complimentarily gave us our two desserts and coffee I can't say enough good about my several dinning experiences here at Numbers. The May to December side show is an extra bonus.

Pros: Food, ambience, fun place
