If you want to stay in one of the most beautifully appointed B&Bs in S.F. then you must stay at the Chateau Tivoli! For a birthday treat my partner and I, whose birthdays are one day apart, treated ourselves to a night stay at this inn and were blown away by the setting and the staff. The antiques throughout this inn are spectacular, the attention to details in the restoration of this painted lady make it a photo op for visiting tourists, and the level of service provided by the staff is fabulous.
I looked at a number of places in S.F. and was getting discouraged by the prices and locations until I found Chateau Tivoli. I checked out there website and was so impressed by the virtual tours of the rooms I called right away and the manager Jonathan was so nice over the phone I felt our birthdays would be very special.
When we saw the exterior of the B&B we were stunned at how much time, effort and money went into making this painted lady the standout of the block. The photos only tell half the story, you have to see this place in person to really appreciate it. Then we went inside and were amazed at the quality of antique furnishings and efforts made to restore the interior to it's original Victorian period splendor. The wallpaper motifs on the ceilings are a must see, the carved banisters must be touched, and the rooms are so comfortable that you will never want to leave.
When we checked in we were met by Jonathan and Meredith and given a tour of the inn and shown to our room. They were so wonderful to us and went out of their way to make our birthday special! They made a birthday greeting for us and gave us a bottle of wine as a birthday present. Jonathan and Meredith were such great hosts and made our stay so special that we had a hard time checking out. They made our birthdays unforgettable and we plan on staying there again. If you want a romantic setting with great hosts you must stay here, you will be so glad you did.
Pros: Great location, setting and staff. Beautiful rooms and a full breakfast.
Cons: Hard to leave and go back to the real work world after staying here.
