Gombei Japanese Restaurant

All the nissei like Gombei as their first choice. I like it for a lunch with friends, but not anything intimate or romantic, for sure!! It's a practical sort of restaurant, busy and crowded. Everyone's seated right next to each other and there's no privacy. But the food is fine and it's nice they have unagi (eel) on the menu. Used to stop by there with a friend after class and have a bowl of unagi donburi for lunch - yeah, that hit the spot!

Their tofu dishes are wonderful because they buy it fresh from the tofu store right next door. I have never been disappointed the last dozen times I have been there. The fish is amazing. I especially like their miso marinated fish. Lunch combos are written on a white board on the back wall and go for $10-15 a plate.
