After many years , I decided to change my dentist. I was just paying to much, even for my regular cleaning. I was referred by a friend to Dr.Tehrani's office. I don't thinkl I thanked her enough. I received the best service and the best care and it was all covered by my insurance. Great staff, clean office and great work.

I have been going to Dr. Tehrani for almost 4 years now and have had excellent service every time. He has been very kind, always and has never pushed any extras on me. In fact, when I went to see him after I had my son last April, I had a deep-root cleaning (his recommendation since your gums get bad during pregnancy)and filled a few cavities with the composite filling (white) and a few other things and when I was leaving, he told the receptionist to not bill me for anything. He said whatever the insurance covered would be fine, that was his gift to me for my baby. I thought that was a VERY nice gesture for being a loyal client.
He has always been very nice and the last time I went for a cleaning, in June I believe, I went during my lunch hour and was out in 35 minutes w/no cavities! He definitely wasn't trying to get money out of me or my insurance since he told me happily that I had no cavities.

This has been my personal experience with Dr. Tehrani since January of 2005.

Hope this helps.

Ratings_icons Dr. Tehrani ROCKS!

Victor P.

I had not gone to the dentist for various years for the fear, however since I arrived at Dr' Tehrani's office I was greeted by friendly staff which made me feel comfortable. Now, after all my treatment has been completed I regret that coming sooner. Everyone should go to Dr. Terahni's office.

I saw the review done by Rich A. and could not believe that someone could think these are fake reviews. If you want solid proof go to the office and see for yourself. All I have to say about this office office is positive!!! Give it a try and you will also give it 6 stars!!!
I recently got my treatment done in Dr. Terahni's office and I had an exceptional experience. I got an implant done and I do not regret it because it was pain free. I would recommend everyone to come and experience the honestly and care of this office.

Ratings_icons Beach Cities Dentistry does great work

Justin B.

My experience has been a very positive one. Dr. Tehrani diagnosed my splitting headaches as TMJ and recommended orthodontia as a remedy. I began the treatment in early 2007, and my headaches went away within a couple of months. I'm nearing the end of treatment, and my teeth look great. More importantly, my quality of life has increased as a result. If you have TMJ, I highly recommend Beach Cities Dentistry.

Ratings_icons Overcharged and Refuses to Even DISCUSS

Anonymous

It is amazing that this office even remains in business. After grossly overcharging us, the dentist refused to take our phone calls or discuss the matter (yet continues to send bills).

We have since been forced to contact the insurance company to dispute, and they are in full agreement that we were overcharged and are owed a refund close to $1500, yet the dentist even refuses to respond to them.

Our opinion - Stay away!!

Ratings_icons FALSE Estimates, Exceptionally Poor Customer Service, and No Responsibility

Anonymous

After being provided a written Good Faith Estimate by Dr. Tehrani for dental work to be completed, he later billed us an amount over 500% ABOVE his initial estimate. This difference made the amount we "owed" literally THOUSANDS of dollars above his initial estimate.

Upon contacting him DAILY to discuss, he refused to return telephone calls and asked his receptionist to tell us he was "out today" or "at lunch" or "with patients" and unavailable to speak to us. Once we finally tracked him down, he indicated that due to a "computer glitch" the error in his estimate had been made, and he was not willing to take responsibility for the error. We disputed further, and he would not budge. We even offered him a settlement amount (which, by the way would still pay him several hundred dollars ABOVE the amount of his initial estimate), and he refused, calling us "crazy" and telling us to "think long and hard about what you are doing."

Our Opinion - this is a dentist to avoid at all costs if you're looking for honest and credible business dealings, and adequate customer service including return telephone calls.

On a side note, we agree with the previous posts about him pushing expensive and unnecessary dental procedures! We are now almost $4000 out of pocket (after a $646 estimate) and he continues to refuse to take our calls or discuss the matter!!

Ratings_icons Beware - overbills & incompetent

Anonymous

I was billed a total of $443 for three cleanings and one filling. After being suspecious of the continued billings, I called my insurance company and they informed me that I should have only paid $167.07. Although I didn't get a 2nd opinion, I couldn't see a cavity in the x-ray but Dr. Tehrani insisted I needed a filling. I had to go back to get the filling sanded down since it was malformed and I couldn't close my mouth comfortably.

He ended up telling my wife she needed two crowns and a filling, but after getting the filling, she had to get it redone three times due to months of severe pain. Neither of us had ever had to go back to a dentist so many times to get something fix. If this just happended with one of us, then it could have been a fluke.. but two people, something is wrong with this guy. If my main dentist (Dr. Aaron Gerson) was available, I would have seen him rather than getting suckered in by Dr. Tehrani.

I have to agree with other reviewers that they do push expensive procedures. I suspect it's to pay for the useless camera equipment he uses... also overhearing what the other patients were undergoing, it sounds like nothing but fillings, crowns, and bridges... I honestly wonder how many really needed that kind of work done.

Word of warning: 1) Don't go to Beach Cities Dentistry; 2) Call your insurance company and double-check your bill; and 3) Get a 2nd opinion if you must see Dr. Tehrani.

I cannot determine who this patient is. However this does not make sense to me. 3 cleanings generally occur over 1.5 years so why was this man's main dentist not available? I do not think most patients could see a cavity on an ex-ray - I like to think that this is skill acquired in dental school. As far as returning to my office to have a filling adjusted for comfort - this is something we try to take care of in the first visit, but sometimes when a patient's mouth is numb everything feels fine, but when they get home and the numbness wears off it feel different. Then we kindly adjust the filling. And I simply cannot address the other claim of having to fix a filling three times because I can't refer to a chart. Every office is about cleanings, fillings, crowns and bridges - that is General Dentistry. I recommend treatment, I do not push it. And my intra-camera is a wonderful tool to show you what is in your mouth. It is paid for many years ago.
Ratings_icons Good Dentist bad businessman.

Scott S.

His office sat on insurance billings for 6 months causing a huge mess up and I got stuck with the bill. No apology or acceptance of a problem. Stay away.

In response to the review posted by Mr. Scott S.: The issue in question came from his insurance refusal to pay for services performed on 11/21/05. We billed his insurance correctly and received partial payment for the service performed. Scott was responsible for the remaining amount, but he asked that we waive that for him. We sent him a letter on 12/11/06 explaining that we could not waive or discount our fees. We simply asked Scott to pay for the balance. After several months of refusing payment, he finally paid his balance on 12/16/2006 A “good business man” would have insisted on payment upfront, before treatment was rendered. I am a dentist and I merely expect that either the patient or his insurance would reimburse me. If Scott is angry, he should direct it at his insurance company, not me.
Ratings_icons Pushes Expensive Treatments

Tracy F.

I was a patient of Dr. Tehrani for a year and a half and had several problems with him including trying to sell me expensive dental appliances, not listening to my concerns, crowns that kept breaking, refusal to discuss my treatment on the phone instead insisting I make an appointment just to answer questions, and crowns that kept breaking. I only stayed with him after my first problems because my orthodontist's receptionist said he did good work. But, after the crown problems and the rude treatment I received because I questioned his treatment approach, I left and found a dentist I could trust.

PROS:
CONS: Poor communication, Pushes expensive treatment options

She came to our office on 9/4/02 for a check up and consultation for a missing tooth. She knew that at the end of her ortho treatment, she would be missing a tooth and wanted to explore the options to replace it. We discussed 3 options. She chose an implant. While waiting for her ortho treatment to be finished, our office got a pre-authorization from her insurance company. The implant was placed for her on 6/24/04. This is almost 2 years after her initial consultation for this treatment. She was completely aware of her co-payment. Tracey decided to change her insurance mid-treatment with the idea that the second plan would pay her co-payment. Unfortunately when she cancelled her agreement with the first plan, they stopped paying. And the second plan considered this a pre-existing condition so they refused to cover the implant crown. We placed her implant crown on 1/5/05. As of 4/08, Tracey has not paid her balance. She asked us to bill the balance to her new insurance under a different code. That is insurance fraud. We recommended the standard treatment; she refuses to pay.
