Eight dollars for two eggplant, five dollars for a pound of apples... this place is drastically overpriced. The employees are also incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful. They make it feel like they're almost doing you a favor when they bag your groceries. I don't know how people in their thirties bagging groceries think they're better than you...but it exists.

Thank heavens for Barbara who guided me to a great remedy She is knowledgeable about her products in the Health section of the store located on the upper floor.

This is a relatively small grocery market in the heart of Russian Hill. They sell fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and other foods. I love shopping here because the people are so friendly and down to earth. The meat dept is great and has wonderful meats and pre-made fish cakes like salmon cakes, crab sakes, etc. The only downside is that prices can be high - I wouldn't suggest going here for a LARGE grocery shopping trip. Buy all your cleaning staples at Target and packaged food staples at Safeway ... and go here for other things you need to get quickly and want very fresh and are willing to pay a little extra for.
