I love roller coasters and this is a great one- there aren't many wooden ones left. And it's location (right at the beach) is unbeatable.

I always take friends here when they're visiting and the coaster lovers love it.

(It's too scary if you don't love roller coasters because it makes a rattle sound that new coasters don't)

A lot of old school coaster charm. From it's disorienting dark tunnel approach to it's extra loud clacking lift, you really get that vintage feel. The ride may seem a bit tame by todays standards, but sports one of the hairiest firsts turns to be found on any wooden coaster. When ever I'm in San Diego, I try to swing by Mission Beach to get my coaster fix. You can literally park right next to the coaster, (free parking) go for a ride, and be back on the road to check out other sites. No admission fees or hassles. Great fun.

This is my favorite roller coast of all times. It's wooden and the turns are the best part. I dont think there are any other wooden rollercoaster that has the non stop fun as this. It's a little pricy at 5 bucks a ride but I always ended up riding it several times.

I once rode this 18 times with an all day pass. The ride changes depending on the winds at the time. It is so much fun riding on an old fashioned wooden coaster next to the ocean. Check out the little exhibit in the kiosk for some history on it as well

Do you ever just want to ride a roller coaster, but not actually go to a big amusement park? Here it is! This is an amazingly fun and long ride for a very low cost. There is never a line, no matter the time or day to ride on this coaster. From the very top of the coaster is a spectacular view of the beach.

The Big Dipper at Belmont Park is certainly not a World Class Roller Coaster, but it is world Famous (it was featured on the intro to MTV's Summer Beach house when they filmed it in the summer of 2000 at Mission Bay). It's a fairly standard wooden coaster that costs about $4 per ride. Located at Belmont Park there is no admission to this park so check out the coaster before you get on.

Whether you are visiting San Diego for the first time or the thousandth time, you really can't miss dropping by Mission Beach. The beach boasts a boardwalk, an arcade, fair style food and rides, as well as this wonderful old wooden roller coaster. The roller coaster has been around for years, and whether you love roller coasters or you hate them, it is tame enough for the entire family, even those who don't like roller coasters. If you are a roller coaster enthusiast, you will appreciate the wooden roller coaster "rickety" feeling of this coaster, and the thrill can be quite nice, especially if there is a slight breeze outside. This is the same roller coaster that was made "famous" in the roller coaster riding radio competition a couple years ago, when a local radio statio had people live in the roller coaster cars, drink warm Mountain Dew, and many other "tactics" to determine who could ride the roller coaster the longest, and ultimately, take home a car. If you watched the roller coaster competition on television when it made the news, and wondered how long you could hold out on the coaster, beware, the price of the coaster is a bit steep compared to the length of the ride. However, you do get a beautiful view of the area, and it's well worth a trip every time you are in the city of San Diego.

Its not cheap to ride the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster at Belmont Park but it's something that every San Diegan has to do-- the roller coaster is supposedly a classic of some sort now. It was like 5 or 6 dollars just to ride the Roller Coaster but even on a busy Saturday afternoon, I didn't have to wait in line very long. I hate rickety wooden roller coasters but all in all, there were not too many big dips and it was a fun ride. Other things to do at the park-- try all the amusement park food there such as cotton candy, ice cream, funnel cake, pizza, etc.

PROS: Fun
CONS: Expensive

This roller coaster is old but good. It is right near the water and has a great view at the top. They keep this coaster up to date so no worrying about damage from age. It is fun and a tradition in our family to take everyone in the summer while in our suits to ride it before we get in the water. I recommed it to anyone visiting San Diego.

This is a must see for guests to San Diego. Old wooden roller coaster that'll keep your heart pumping! It's not too expensive, and it's right on the beach. A totally Californian thing!

This roller coaster is a part of Mission Beach history. The ride may be a little old but man it is fun. The ride will definently give you a little bit of a scare and it might feel like your going fly off the track but its a great thrill.

holy butthole. When I rode this I thought the bolts would fly our the track might crumble and i would go flying in a big ball of flaming wreckage and death onto the street next to it...not even fun...just...horrible. I was actually thankful getting off the rollercoaster and seeing the line of people distancing me even more from the inevitable bore and destruction.

This rollercoaster definitely gives you a ride worth while yet it is a little short and could be put into a different scene. The ocean view from the top of the first hill is worth the pay.

This rickety roller coaster will get your adrenaline rushing. In the heart of mission beach, it is close to shopping and the beaches. It is fun and exciting.
