I have been feeding feral cats in my neighborhood at my own expense and I am retired. I called when one of them was injured by a car and left several messages. no one ever returned my call. I even called the other number of the executive office as they suggested , well, no one called back. I even offered to volunteer or have a fundraiser for them
I finally had to take the sweet kitty to my local vet cost of 480.00 verifiable and then had to have the kitty euthanized I doubt if this will even interest them since all they care about is money not pets..

We adopted our little fox terrier "Lily" from Animal Samaritans 9 mos. ago and she is a ray of sunshine in our life. The experience went fine through the adoption process. They interviewed us and we mentioned that we have a 13 yr. old pug at home, they asked that we bring her in to be certain that the two could coexist and get along, which made perfect sense to us. The staff seemed very caring of the animals and wanted to be certain that they were going to a good home. I would recommend using them and their services, we were very pleased. The new pet care facility is very nice with lots of seating available.

Animal Samaritans SPCA has been in animal welfare business for over 33 years. They provide about $300,000 in free services to the communities annually. Spay and netuer services are very affordable compared to the market. Yes, discounts may be given, which are usually done because another organization has helped pay for services. The person with 3 animals saved considerable dollars, probably about $300.00 minimum. Cash is taken at the time of service to save on bad debt, bad checks and expenses, keeping fees low. And yes, some adopters are refused based on credible criteria. Animal Samaritans does not sell animals and does not farm out animals to pet stores. The cost of adoption does not even cover spay and neutering and vaccinations. Becasue a person can pay does not entitle them to an animal adoption and does not mean that they will take care of the animal.

The organization is caring and compassionate about animal welfare.

went to the new facility and had 2 females and one male doggie spayed and nuetered. The cost was 350.00 ..well ok it is worth it but I had to pay up front and was ok with that also. I am hard working and it is expensive to have pets I understand this but to not even be gievn a cone-collar after the surgeries and to be told that we could buy them there cheaper than petco,it made me a little irritated that I spent as much as I did and after that saw a lady who said she couldnt afford to pay her bill after her pet had surgery and that she didnt know that they dont accept checks? and they said oh ok...and then proceeded to give another discount right in front of many people who had actually paid for their animals to have procedures.... uugghh I was pissed. otherwise it was an ok experience, over all my animals are safe and I AM thankful..and will return for the next round of shots...I will be over it by then.. ;)

After I had to put my girl cat down after 18 wonderful years it was time to add to my family again which was hard to do. I went into Animal Samaritans on a Saturday and saw Mercedes but just could not bring myself to adopt her that day. I left so empty and talked with some friends on Sunday. They said, You have been sad and lonely long enough! It is time to find another little girl. On Monday, I prayed Mercedes was still there and to my surprise SHE WAS! I could not get there fast enough. She is not a replacement for Jazmine but her baby sister! Animal Samaritan was so caring and understanding to my feelings and allowed me private time with Mercedes to make sure it would be a good match and boy now 9 months later how HAPPY we both are! I cannot thank Animal Samaritan enough for their questions about me and how I would care for her making sure Mercedes was going to be taken care of the right way. Mercedes and I thank you all for all your hard work!!!

From experience I mention this. Animal Samaritains has turned down many people for unbelievable excuses. I will not donate to this company, they say they care about these animals and want to make sure they go to loving family homes. Yet they lock them up and let them sit in cages rather than sell them to those that will give them a home. I feel if a person is willing to buy an animal, then they will take good care of the animal. These animals are spread out in different stores and cared for by the staff within that store not Animal Samaritains. They don't even see that animal after they send it out. Yet you go through the process of filling out an application through the store and Animal Samaritains has the decision to except you as an adoptable family? They never even seen you or really talked with you. The staff at the store has though. And the application even asks for their opinion. My store put down that we were a great family! Yet we got turned down. I even offered a credit check and a home visit. These people are cold hearted and yet we donate in the health and safety of these animals. Tell me how are these animals taken care of by donation if they are being feed by the staff and the store they sit in? Were is your donation being used? Are you paying their paycheck? They must not want to sell animals too bad if they keep turning good homes away! Keep in mind who this is and pass this info on to whom ever you know. If you want to see for your self go to your local Pet Smart Store and apply yourself, It doesn't cost anything to apply, but I'll bet they give you an unbelievable excuse that you can not adopt! Save a heart ache for yourself or your little one that falls in love with the cat in the cage. Animal Samaritains told me to go to the local pound! At least there your donation's by purchasing will go to the feeding and care of the animals, Not Animal Samaritains Pay Checks!

Recently my family and I were at Pet Smart looking around. My husband and children had noticed a beautiful cat sitting in a holding cage. This was an adoptable cat through Animal Samaritians. We injured through the assistant manager about this cat named Tank. After my children, husband and I spending over and hour with Tank, we decided to adopt Tank. We filled out the paperwork and the manager sent it via fax to Animal Samaritains. The next morning my husband received a phone call from this company and did an over the phone interview. She stated "she would give the information to her manager and we would be hearing something". Later that day on Valentines Day mind ya. We received a call from Animal Samaritains with a turn down on the adoption because we have a 100 pound lab that does not reside in our home but is kept outside! Our lab comes in once in a while but apparently needs to live in our home to qualify for a cat adoption. Now it was stated that it was unknown if this cat even gets along with dogs but must live inside with the dog. Since when does anyone have the right to tell you who or what must live in your home? This was our families Valentines present. We have taken in many animals in off the streets and helped find their owners. We have opened our home to foster care and provider for children. But we did not qualify to adopt a cat! Animal Samaritians advertise "Adopt a Pet, give them a loving home, we only have so much shelter space!" Please, Please , Please! Help us feed these animals! Yet that does not require an application for you to give to them. I offered a great home to Tank, and you need to know that there are many more out there that has been turned down offering the same. However these animals are still being feed by everyone that donates to this non profit company. However these animals live in cages hoping to be adopted and are not allowed to be! That seems to cruel. You may email me with any questions about my experience with Animal Samaritains.

We are low income and were unable to afford the high prices of the local vet in Desert Hot Springs, so we called the Animal Samaritan SPCA clinic and had appointments for our 3 cats made in like 2 days and we weren't charged for the surgery or the shots. They were awesome! You have to qualify for the low income by bringing some proof of income with you, but the entire surgery was paid for by some angels here in the desert. We were so grateful and they all came out of the surgeries just fine. We highly recommend this clinic for their true caring for the animals.

PROS: Excellent service, competent vets.
CONS: None that we could see!

When I need an animal to be spayed or neutered this is where I take them. It is a low cost vet clinic. Some of my pets have had their shots done there, also. They also have other services. I had a special situation with one of my cats. I took her in and it turned out she was okay They were patient with me about it. They are very organized. They accept volunteers, also. The also have an adoption service for cats and dogs. They love animals very much.
