I took my old Honda Accord to Floyd for a checkup (he is certified by the Auto Club), and he found that the old jalopy was just about ready to give out ?? pointing out a crack in the front end that would have sent me over the side of Interstate 5 if it had given way. To make a long story short, I decided to have all the repair work done (and there was a lot of it, both front and back ends, brakes, etc.,) and I spent a bundle ?? basically because I didn't want to go through the hassle of junking the piece of junk and buying a new car. Anyway, if Floyd was as disreputable as Marley C. makes him out to be, he would not be an Auto Club-certified shop. I will be taking the car back to Floyd for regular maintenance and follow-up, but I will hang on to my repair invoice just in case I have the trouble that Marley had. I recommend them because they did good work, they took me to my doctor's office for an appointment, and they arranged with Enterprise for a car rental when I had to leave my creaky old Honda with the for the repairs.

I find it remarkable that Tune-Up King is still in business. After having over $1000 worth of repair done at the shop, my car failed 8 months later due to problems related to their original work. I had the car towed back to Tune-Up King, and they gave me an exorbitant quote that included parts and labor from the old repair (i.e., they had no intention of honoring their 1-year, 12,000 mile warranty). This didn't sit well with me, so I called around to a few other mechanics to know the right kind of questions to ask and to make sure that I wasn't being taken advantage of. When I called back to get more information about the new quote with my old invoice in hand, they asked me to bring the invoice down to the shop(!) Bring it to the shop??! My CAR is at the shop. They had obviously lost the original invoice, which was less than eight months old. The employee then said, "let me try to bring it up on the computer and call you back," and he never called. I waited and waited, and finally called the shop myself ten minutes before the shop's closing and he acted as though I was wasting HIS time, saying things like, "I'm working on cars right now, helping customers, you know."

So here's a brief rundown:
1. Shoddy, incompetent service that failed eight months later.
2. No intention to honor warranty related to parts and labor.
3. Lost previous invoices and asked me, the customer, to return them to the shop.
4. Rude, even offensive treatment over the telephone.

I feel that Tune-Up King tried to take advantage of me because I am a college student, and when I did my homework and demanded clarity and specificity and professionalism on their part, they resorted to brushing me off as a customer, as if to say, "we have other customers, so it's fine if we lose you." I had over $1000 work done at Tune-Up King and I regret every dollar. Please, please take your business somewhere else.

I have been taking my vehicles to Floyd at Tune Up King for about 7 or 8 years now, and I have passed on his talents to other people looking for a trustworthy and good mechanic. You can feel that Floyd is trying to do what is best for your car and his customers. I had my vehicle about 1 mile from falling out of warranty, I took it to Floyd prior to taking it to the dealer, he found a fluid leak way up on the side of the motor.....When I took it to the dealer, they totally missed it....I had to argue with the service writer to get the vehicle up on a lift and look at the motor from the angle that Floyd recommended that they view the problem......sure enough.....I was getting a call back from the service writer saying "I stand corrected". If it wasn't for Floyd and his thoroughness....I would have been out a lot of money fixing that problem out of warranty...instead....it didn't cost me anything at all......GO SEE FLOYD.....HE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU.

PROS: Floyd finds the problems and fixes them, saves you time and money
CONS:
