My family and I have stayed at the Pacific Terrace Hotel several times over the last five years. The views are breathtaking and the location is very convenient. However, this last stay at the hotel, during December 2008, we noticed several changes that made the experience less enjoyable.
First, there is no more late afternoon wine reception hour. We were told this had been discontinued for the winter months this year. Additionally, the free continental breakfast in the lounge area has also been discontinued. You may, instead, purchase a "breakfast package" reservation. Finally, the parking in the alley due east of the hotel (on hotel property) had previously been free. This year, we were told that this parking is also $20 per night.
We have always loved this hotel, and there are still benefits to staying here. However, we miss all those special touches.

The rooms are beautifully decorated and each comes with a refrigerator. All of the rooms have balconies. Our room had a beach view. We could relax on the balcony and watch breakers rolling over the beach after a hard day of sight-seeing.

Nicely located in Pacific beach this hotel is good place to stay. It is conveniently located on the beach, making it a desirable place for beach lovers. And the rooms are nice and clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and the pool area is nice. The only complaints I have is that you have to pay for parking and that I believe there is no room service. However, there are some restaurants in the area that you could drive to.

The Pacific Terrace Hotel in San Diego is my absolute favorite hotel in San Diego. It sits right on the beach in Pacific Beach. Even the "non-view" rooms have a lovely view of the ocean, you are just not directly in front of it. The rooms are beautiful; our bathroon was giant with lovely marble floors. Lots of extra lovely touches like thick cotton bath robes and nightly turn down service with chocolates on your pillow. Do plan on paying an extra $15 a night to use the sub-terrainean parking, otherwise parking can be difficult as this hotel does sit directly on the beach.
